A long time ago, at a Renaissance fair farther away from you people but close to me (Crownsville, Maryland), we held a thing. Would anyone be interested in a thing?
As far as I know I'm the Main Playgrounder in this area now (THANKS TROLLS ) and I can't provide a great deal of lodging, but with some Trogland-esque assistance I can probably book a piece of a hotel for a tolerable price.
As a thought experiment, perhaps Columbus Day weekend? 2nd to last weekend before the end of the faire. It's a teensy bit short notice, but I'd love for it to happen. I'LL BE THERE IF YOU AREN'T!

But (and feel free to join in the chorus if this sounds familiar) over the weekend my car... sort of... died. I don't want to say "the motor blew up," but that's not as thoroughly and entirely inaccurate as I wish it were. Depending on exactly how I go about replacing/resurrecting it, I may soon be critically short on vacation time. Or not, I'm still evaluating options. I will see what I can do, though.

I will certainly attend. Still have more vacation time than I know what to do with, so I'd be happy to spend somemore on seeing Playgrounders. I don't know what I'm gonna do next year when I have 15 days of PAL. The mind fairly boggles.

Second Monday in October. Looking at my calendar, that will be the 13th. So presumably the prospective start date would be Friday, October 10.

Ok, so the hotel I'm looking at right now is the Hilton Garden Inn in Columbia. Rooms are $85/night without any group rate, I'm still investigating the price in conjunction with the booking of their conference room. How many nights are people hanging around?

I assume hanging out/gaming Friday night, Saturday after the RF, and all day Sunday, with most people leaving Sunday afternoon/evening or Monday morning, which would make it 2-3 nights.

So, a friend of mine is having a 'house concert' Friday, Oct. 10th. Here's a link to the event. It's a Celtic Folk Artist, Marc Gunn. I've not heard of him, but like Celtic music. =)

We've all been invited to come. They're asking for a $15 donation at the door and there's a potluck dinner included and drinks. Though if you want decent beer, you might ought bring your own. People are supposed to bring food, but we, at least, are probably not, being as we're flying into town 20 minutes before the thing starts.

Their house is aaaaaaaaaamazing. Like, double staircases in the foyer, they've turned their 'formal dining room' into a pub. They offered to let me stay there when I came in to town for work and told me I could have a wing to myself. Seriously insane house. Might want to come just to see it.

Anyway, anyone interested?

I believe it's more of a one-night concert/event/potluck thingy. I didn't catch an implication of staying there the whole weekend.

It is indeed a one-night thing. They likely would have room for us all to stay, as actually, would another set of friends that I'm hoping will come hang out with us. But it'd be awkward to be all 'hey, can I invite a whole bunch of people you've never met over to stay at your house for the weekend?' But neeeeext year, maybe I'll have places for us to crash, as then they'd have met at least a few of you and would, you know, at least know what I mean when I say 'playgrounders'.

I've contacted a variety of hotels over the past couple of weeks and am now securing us a deal with the Springhill Suites Columbia. It will be more expensive than I thought, $99/night. I'll get back to you shortly with a link to book your rooms. If you have already booked at another hotel, no big deal.


In more distressing news, because my life is awful, I am running into more car trouble and may or may not be able to furnish rides at this event. More on that in a few.
