The villager has been badly hurt by the fall. He has a few broken and dislocated bones. His condition worsens quickly and you conclude he must be suffering from a few internal injuries as well. Without magical healing, it is unlikely that you can keep death at bay long enough to bring him to a more skilled healer.
A wise monk trains both mind and body, but a smart monk is actually a swordsage.

After a moment tending to him, Abbant comes to the conclusion he would have instantly should it have been dark.
"This man needs a magical healer... It seems the fall ruptured something, see this bulging, it's starting to change colour... He won't live long without. And my only form of healing requires he be awake to activate it..."

More resources used. Yet I cannot let him die
Bring him to me standing Niel says, still within the wagon.

The holy symbol dangling on sitting Niel's bare chest glows as he places his hand on the dying man's face. He utters a single word as he draws power from his cause to force the breath of life down the man's throat. Live
The servants (read zombies) takes the now not dying man to his comrades.
It is time for us to leave standing Niel says.

"It is... I'll get someone to come and help you back, but it's the orcs we're hunting who've done this, and I'd rather they not get the chance to do this to others."

Abbant moves back, readying to mount up and ride off.

The not-dying man wakes up with a growl and tries to lunge at the group, ignoring his broken bones, but he is easily restrained and dragged into the pit.

The two men nod sullenly. "If you are successful, they should wake up soon enough. The cloaked woman appeared every now and then and clouded our minds, so her charm cannot be permanent." Says the older of the two. "Thank you for everything, and good luck. Be careful."

You head along the road and soon enough you see ruined farmhouses and torched fields. You know there is some distance to go before you reach the border guard, yet little to no information has made it... After a few hours, you see the village ahead. It sits in the middle of flatland and has a small watchtower on it's edge, facing away from you and towards the border. The houses are ordered in a circular formation around what looks like a small fountain, although it is hard to determine exact details from this far. You are far enough and currently have higher ground, so you are unlikely to be spotted until you get closer, if there are any spotters...

"How often, perhaps we could best wait for her to prevent her from using others... Though loss of her familiar undoubtedly hurt." Abbant smiles a little.

The man frowns, trying to remember through the haze of the recent charm. "I think... Yes, she came twice a day..." The other man nods his confirmation.

The man thinks for a moment. "She came not long ago... Was gone just before we heard an explosion... But the birds... They seem to keep watch. Every hour one comes and the other leaves. If she speaks to them..."

    Agreed, Munin?

Niel sends his raven out to find a good spot to set up camp. A task it has gotten many times before.
