    Spoiler: Operation 1: Silent Sword/Fallen Scepter

    Fireteam Alpha and Beta were dispatched to two different sites in Hausenberg and Dracomar, responding to news of attacks by X-D forces. After initial encounters with the invaders, the fireteams were forced to withdraw in order to respond to an attack on X-COM HQ - Mount Irongullet.

    Overall Rating: -


    Spoiler: Operation 2: Hewn Stone
    Show

    Returning to Mount Irongullet, both Fireteam Alpha and Beta were both shot down by an X-D flying object. The survivors of each crash banded together and fought their way over to the H.H.A. Archangel, which had also been shot down. Managing to get the air cruiser airborne again after a desperate battle, the combined fireteam returned to X-COM HQ, finding it under heavy assault from an unending stream of X-Ds. Despite this, the group managed to rescue Tygrin, Fireteam Delta's manticore carrier for their Skyranger, Professor Vallen, X-COM's chief researcher, and the commander of X-COM Aurelius Silvermane, along with a handful of other personnel. The group then boarded Delta's skyranger and successfully escaped from the mountain base before they were overwhelmed by the still-incoming swarm of X-Ds.

    OPERATION AVENGING VALKYRIE
    Location: Nuwessan
    Starting Kingdoms: Foretcu, Tablelands, Painted Crags, Yanakhum
    Benefit: Mobile Base of Operations
    Narrative Theme: Action
    Base of Operation: The H.H.A. Valkyrie, the theocracy's newest air dreadnought warship about to undergo christening by Speaker Magdah, leader of Nuwessan's theocratic state.
    Jist of the Operation: You are to commandeer or steal the dreadnought if you have to. (May have repercussions with the relationship with Nuwessan you just patched up by saving the Archangel - assuming you just STEAL the thing.) Fireteam Epsilon was also sent to Nuwessan to investigate rumors of X-D activity in the area - they haven't reported back in. Finding out what happened to them would be nice (optional).

    OPERATION DROWNING TERROR
    Location: Whitehill
    Starting Kingdoms: Whitehill, Nuwessan, Dracomar, Zelezub
    Benefit: Mobile Base of Operations, Access to Sea Nations
    Narrative Theme: Exploration, Horror
    Base of Operation: The W.N.S. Myrmidon, a super-carrier with submersible capability
    Jist of the Operation: You are to investigate the disappearance of the W.N.S. Myrmidon, and if the ship is salvageable, to secure it for X-COM.

    OPERATION DARK TEMPEST
    Location: Dudinnas
    Starting Kingdoms: Underhelm, Dudinnas, Exserpis, Hausenberg
    Benefit: Already Built Base, Rookies (i.e. Extra lives), Access to Underdark nations
    Narrative Theme: Intrigue
    Base of Operation: The X-COM training facility located in Dudinnas
    Jist of the Operation: You are to travel to the X-COM training facility located in the capital city of the drow nation of Dudinnas. Gather the recruits, alert them to what happened, and make the training center ready to serve as X-COM's new base of operations from within the Underdark (and safely out of reach of the X-D's drop pods . . . you hope).

    OPERATION IMMINENT APOCALYPSE
    Location: Elestar
    Starting Kingdoms: Elestar, Cedwigmar, Elfheim, Crimson Khanate
    Benefit: Additional Starting Resources (due to being able to call in favors), Access to Fey nations
    Narrative Theme: Investigation, Horror
    Base of Operation: A new facility in the Eladrin city-state of Elestar, located safely in the Feywild
    Jist of the Operaton: Travel to the Eladrin city of Elestar as a peace envoy team. Convince the Eladrin to allow X-COM to set up a base within the city by any means necessary. Given his status as a war hero, dropping Aurelius's name should at least get your foot in the door. The rest is up to you.

    Location: Dracomar
    Objective: Fireteam Gamma was sent out to investigate strange happenings in a remote mining village within Dracomar.
    They haven't reported back in. Go investigate and find out what happened to Fireteam Gamma, and hopefully the village as well.

    So - when we first started this thread, everyone pretty much answered that they wanted to keep things going at roughly a daily pace. Things have steadily slowed since then, and it's getting to the point now where I'm starting to become concerned about the game's health. Is it just that everyone is busy with real life now? Or is there something in-game that's going on that I might be able to fix?

    I'm still fine with daily posting. Work is being a beast, so I can't post OOC as much as I would like, but it won't stop me from IC'ing.

    Real Life has been shaking things up for me lately. That said, I'll easily be able to keep to once a day posts Monday-Thursday. Friday-Sunday will be more intermittent, especially during the summer. Lately, my posts during the week have been less frequent mostly because it wasn't my turn in the initiative count.

    The problem for me is, that my weekends tend to get fairly busy. And I don't always have time to come on the forums and post. That being said, our busy months at work are now pretty much done, so I will be have a TON of time during the day, during the week, in which to post more.

    Also, if anyone has any non-healing surge healing that they would like to pass Ferrum's way before a short rest.....that would be amazing.

    I believe we should have 1 Akamenos healing left (I'd need to check the combat to see who got healed by what - Azktor, since you are doing just that, would you mind checking?), so you are in luck. Brings up, however, the usual problem of who donates HS to the cause. Cinder is starting to run low, but I suspect she is doing better than everyone else.

    Seems like we didn't blow any of Akamenos' heals; excellent.

    We can use 2 to restore Tygrin to full and have him help us with the remainder of the mission; hopefully he'll be able to tank a substantial portion of the attacks/damage otherwise meant for us by getting in the aliens' face and drawing attention to himself, thereby earning a return on our surge investment. In all honesty the only way we're going to save the science team _and_ the HQ is with his assistance unless the next two encounters are cakewalks. I definitely can't see us doing both without his help.

    I don't suppose it would be at all possible to secure the HQ first, _then_ go to the labs?

    Labs versus HQ is entirely up to you guys - and Tygrin is willing to help.
    Tygrin's eating or not-eating if you don't let him eat someone's body, will not add any time to your short rest.
    So I just need confirm where you are heading next.
    Cinder is still looking towards the research division, and since that was the previously discussed next objective I'll work up that encounter next unless there is great opposition.

    DM is talking about our healing during short rest: you suggested using two Akamenos heals on Tygrin, which do indeed need to be regenerated (Cinder can do one, someone else needs to do the other), and Ferrum did want the heal from Dagrun.

    Grey Wolf is correct - Tygrin is Bloodied at the moment. If you would prefer he can simply take a Short Rest with you and expend his one healing surge to get up to 3/4 health - ~76 HP.
    Alternatively, Tygrin can pay his healing surge to Akamenos to recharge his other infusion, and Akamenos uses both on Tygrin to get him up to his full health of 106 HP.
    Or however you want to do it.

    Dagrun has one healing word left, which Irish mentioned that Ferrum would like as it would cut down on the number of healing surges Ferrum has to spend to get back up to full.

    So, we heal up, and we're heading to what?

    I'm thinking HQ first, then we clear out the lab; it'll take 5 minutes to get to the HQ from the Stables, and from there, 3 minutes to get to the research department. We can lose the latter, but we cannot lose the former.

    Okay. Where the party heads next seems like it's something that is still open for debate. I've started work on the research lab encounter but since it's not done yet I'm willing to leave your choice of destination open to debate. Please decide and give me a definitive answer by no later than Saturday night. That will give me Sunday to hurriedly build the next encounter in time for next week, regardless of whether you end up heading to the labs or HQ. I will warn you ahead of time that it is likely due to having Tygrin along that you will probably not level up by tackling just one of the two encounters. (Because I am a bastard DM like that. Also, between Tygrin and the two Archangel crewmen, you are giving me 600 free XP for an encounter without considering any other allies or beneficial terrain. That is literally a level one encounter for the six of you. )

    So we only got 500 XP total for that encounter for the entire party?

    As for the allies sapping our XP, ICly, it's too hard not to justify bringing them, and I don't want to take the chance that we fail with so many of our resources expended.

    Well also consider that while yes, your allies are sapping XP, they are also going to be absorbing some of the monsters that generate that XP. Getting a full 900 XP from 900 XP worth of X-Ds isn't worth much if that 900 XP worth of X-Ds kill you. I haven't fully built the Command Center fight yet so I'm not sure how much XP it'll actually be worth - it might be enough to push you over. The fight in the research labs I'm pretty sure won't, so that might be another reason to do the Command Center first.

    As for the Stables fight I can re-check the math. Here:

    I have to run, but I vote for Research Center first, for IC reasons: HQ should have more soldiers, more ways to survive an assault, than a bunch of scientists/engineers in a workshop. Of thw two, the ones I trust to survive longer is HQ.
