Cool and/or Explanatory Names Are Overrated - In Character

"If the boat didn't come in sight of you, I can't think what else it would be."

[Tjallen]

"So is this the part where we find the authorities and sell them the info that will explain such a ship? Since we kinda know where it could have come from. Or do we need more information first?"

[rweird]

"You can't actually believe him!" Exclaims the skeptic, before being cut off by the storyteller asking

"What do you know about that ship?"

[Tjallen]

"He believes it, and seeing that island? Well, I would be inclined to believe him. Especially after the one surviving ambusher started talking." Sperr looks downright murderous when mentioning the ambusher.

"What about the island?" Jack asks with interest.

[Tjallen]

"Very dangerous. Magical wildlife and hostile natives. Avoiding it without strength in numbers or personal power is a wise choice."

Though we only saw some wolves and humans. Hellen adds. Why, with all this talk of magical wildlife it was starting to sound like the midget was a bit spacier between the ears then even her.

[Tjallen]

Sperr explains quickly: "It was worgs, not wolves. The difference is subtle, kind of like the difference between a celestial horse and a hornless unicorn. Or actually more like the difference between a monkey and a goblin. This includes their enjoyment from dismemberment."

Magnus pitched in somewhat seriously but with a very faint trace of sarcasm, "Truly, I can attest to that. For some reason, the natives started to retaliate after Aeris preemptively attacked, probably out of panic.

I mean...what were they thinking, yeah? They should've just lied down while Sperr is murdering every single one of them. It was very unfortunate that he only had sated his murderous bloodlust for one living being that afternoon. Stupid hostile natives, alright!."

[Tjallen]

Sperr glares at Magnus, hostility dripping from his voice, teeth showing: "If you had been fighting instead of hiding, you might actually have gotten your hands dirty and your sword bloodied. And on the subject of murder, I hardly think it counts since they already had Boddynock on the ground bleeding before any of them suffered a fatal case of weakness."

Pointing out the obvious Hellen corrects sperr. "...but Mangus doesn't use a sword, he uses powerful magics."

[Tjallen]

Sperr looks at Hellen, switching from downright murderous to surprised almost instantly: "Huh, hiding was a good choice then. Flashy magic is dangerous for the caster. I hope he is some kind of divine caster, but the healing kind usually aren't deceitful. Damnation, I hate healing."

Magnus turned to Jack and addressed him as though talking to an old friend, "Say, Jack, you colorful chap, would you please take us to the island once more? We plan to take further waterbound exploring, trying to reach the lighthouse with a route around the shore, so as to avoid unnecessary bloodshed, which isn't what everyone signed for in the first place!"

All three of the fishermen look on with growing discontent as Sperr talks of the island, and Magnus mentions murders.

"All right, but explain what happened to you last time to me first." He answers worriedly.

Magnus explained, "See, deep in the forest, there happen to be a great war between two native tribes. Seems to me that what looks like a small scouting squad were alerted by our presence, mistaking us for their enemy natives. They had their weapons drawn, likely in case their perceived enemies started attacking. Aeris probably saw this as a threatening enough stance, and so gave a warning shot, despite earlier insistence to refrain resorting to violence.

I avoided harming others due to potential misunderstanding, so I'll leave the unsavory details to our esteemed ranger. It was a truly frightening ecperience for an average citizen like me, and I'm truly thankful to have survived in one piece!

"We were attacked by the worgs before this, and it's more a tribe of savages and a group that gave them the name savages, so possibly pirates, smugglers, cultists or military. But Sper here," At this point Sperr pats Sper on the head before continuing: "And a simple summon finished every single one of them off, except for one they decided we should talk to. He got away. For now."

"Do you intend to kill anyone else when you come back." Jack asks apprehensively.

[ben-zayb]

"That's what'm talking about. You tell 'im, Jack!", Magnus adds as he cheers on Jack.

[Tjallen]

"If they start threatening us again I will defend myself and the others. Maybe except for Magnus, he seems to want to defend himself."

[rweird]

Jack looks confused at Jacks non-response response, and not reassured at Sperr's. "Do the people on the island have bows or boats?"

"We saw a bow, but no boats."

[ben-zayb]

"No boats, aye! 'tis why we thought traveling around shore would be safer. Save for tides, maybe? Dunno how rough the seas can be in that area."

[rweird]

"Very well, I shall take you, but make sure that no-one learns of my involvement." With that, he nervously goes about finishing piling the nets in the boat, and making to cast off, after he is sure you all are on board.

Within a quarter of an hour, you arrive at the same little cove, where Jack ventures as close as he dares to the shore. The cove looks just like it did when you left it.

Aeris nods, understanding Jack's condition.
"Of course not. We've just hired you to take us out to look at a wreck, or something. Now, You'll be here to pick us up again in about 8 hours or so?"

"Closer to eleven hours. Now, I'd prefer if you don't mention me at all if possible."

[Archmage1]

Aeris shrugs.
"We can do that. Silence is a simpler answer. In any event, we'll see you in ten and a half hours or so."
With that, Aeris starts to make his way over to the shore.

Magnus reassures Jack as he starts leaving, "No prob, James...Joe...Jerry? See, I can't even remember your name!"

He then follows Aeris, the "shallow" waters proving to be much more difficult to wade through than expected.

As he instructs Sper to carry him to the shore Sperr remarks to the others:"I am not playing bait again."

You set off towards the lighthouse along the shore. Branches hang low, leaving the way partially shaded. After perhaps five minutes of walking, you come to a little cove. There is a small frozen pool in the center and a frozen stream leading up to it, although it isn't connected to the sea due to the tides. The island rises sharply beyond the bank. A frozen waterfall, no larger than 5 ft wide feeds into the frozen stream. A man appears to be frozen in the pool.

Seeing this, Aeris gestures, holding his hand up, indicating that they should stop.
"Stop, magic up ahead. Don't want to trigger a trap."
