Some of you recall rumors that several of the young adventurers in the training group you were a part of vanished into the underdark during the last month of training. When Koma pulls back on the bow, the string barely budges, he's not strong enough to use it.

Koma loads the bodies up across his mount, and begins walking along side it. "I believe these unfortunates may be the bonded initiates from last season's class. The ones who went missing before they could be dispatched."

Aladar smirks at Koma's pitiful pull on the bowstring, gesturing him to pass it over so he can get a look at it.
"Give me a look at that." He says before he wrinkles his nose and waves distastefully at the corpses.

"Be better to leave those or burn 'em. Better a mystery disappearance than a report of being carrion for monsters. Less stench and bother for us since we wont 'ave to let the masters know, and a shred more dignity for 'em."

He arches a brow slightly as he is hit by an afterthought before he glances back at Edge. "I thought your kin favored crossbows?"

"If we turn the corpses in we won't have to bury them ourselves. Besides, the Roper isn'r just any monster. It's strong and intelligent. Had there been less of our numbers, we'd have suffered the same fate." Edge argued.

"So for crossbows. Yes, the Drow prefer them, but I find them clunky." She explained. As soon as Globber was done bottling the venom, they would set to return to the Fortress.

Mewla looked over the bodies, remembering who they were and her hands glowing as she checks on their spiritual state. "Their spirits have moved on, they are at rest now. We should return the bodies to the Grand Dragons. We can get the items examined then as well. I just wish to be gone from these tunnels. They reek now of rot and death."

Globber is only able to gather a single vile of the substance that coated the Roper's strands. The strands themselves were made almost completely of the substance surrounding a thin tendril, but the flames burned away most of it and the rest seemed to evaporate upon the roper's death. There is only the one vial's worth that can be salvaged, even with Globbers expertise.

The group does not run into any more nasty underdark creatures. The guards let them through, not questioning the three corpses set over the giant gecko's back - they've seen stranger things being brought through their gates. They mention it is getting late, the sun has set enough that the grand courtyard's floors are no longer being touched by sunlight.

The group can go about their separate business once more if they so wish, though they'll want the items examined and should probably find the Name Keeper in the library, to see if they can identify the three dead students and have their names recorded as to their demise.

Aladar grunts when they get through the gates. "You deal with the dead meat and find a mage or artificer to figure out what the gear is. I go to get this slime out of my boots and sleep." He says as he wanders off.

Koma sets off toward the library. He wants to show these dead the respect they warrant. He'll search for the name keeper, as well as a proper burial ground. Afterward he will seek an arcanist to study the gear that has been salvaged.

Mewla goes with Edge and Koma to the Arcane Sanctum, where the library is located. They have no trouble finding the Name Keeper, an elderly looking human with tan skin and silver hair, with brilliant gold eyes. She stands on a raised platform, several tomes upon before her which she seems to flip through, making corrections and adjustments. She looks up as you three approach, glancing up at the bodies you've brought. "What's thus? I hadn't heard of the gates losing any guards. Who have you brought to me?"

She nods, "Missing initiates..." The Name Keeper slides over to one tome, flipping through it the checking some text. "Most initiates go missing alone, or in pairs, sometimes a team will vanish but that is always at least four members or more. A group of just three... here we are. Davis Mettek, Human Fighter from Cadelria; Eldian Swifthand, Elven Ranger from the Saphire Isle; Gendry Aluzami, Halfelf Paladin from the town of Restoss. The made it to the top 30, then were last seen exiting the lower gates to do some 'exploring'. Well, we can mark them as deceased now. Their families will be informed." She takes out a red quill, marking down three X's.

Edge sighed. She was not expecting Koma to want to bury the bodies himself. Edge's stomach growled at her enough already. She somewhat trusted the ratman and the catgirl but they might use this to claim more of the spoils. She decided to help them bury the lost cadets. She'd only have to dig one hole if they all three went at it. Plus, Koma's mount could help.

    She followed Koma and Mewla.

The three end up in the gardens, where an elderly dwarf directs them to the dragon acolyte gravesites. He offers to bury them hinself, as he in the undertaker and they probably should get rest for the coming day. Mewla offers a prayer for the fallen then heads to her room, less bubbly than normal as she departs.

Aladar returns to his room and cleans his armor and weapons, getting to bed.

Globber is in the lab he took over, analyzing the venom. He will need a few hours studying it to determine all it's properties, including how long it will stay dangerous and if it can be reproduced.

Mewla stepped back into her room, a heavy burden weighing on her heart. There was no way they could be saved, but it saddened her to know those initiates had suffered. That their lives were cut so short. She walked over to her bed, softly laying down. Her tender eyes closed, as she let her mind reflect on the events. Her mind soon drifted off to a dreamless sleep.

Aladar wakes early, the Roper sting still sore. "Never again will I be too slow to react." He thinks to himself, eyeing his polished armor hanging on the mannequin in his quarters. He takes his Glaive-guisarme and gives it one last twirl around him before hanging it on the mannequin as well. A solemn look washes over him as he reaches under his bed and pulls out a leather wrapped parcel with a rounded shape. He places the parcel atop his bed and unwraps the leather to reveal an old looking bronze shield with a serrated edge. An image of the sun decorates the front of the shield and the wisps of flame flow outward onto the serrations. A glint of light gleams off of its polished surface as the sun rises. Aladar wraps the leather around his torso and belts it tightly to his muscular form. He cracks his knuckles, then his neck. He clasps an old rusty gauntlet on his right hand and slips the shield over his left testing its weight as if he hadn't used it in years. He opens the door and gives a backward glance to the suit of steel standing at attention behind him. "It is a new day." He says aloud as he leaves this room, perhaps for the last time.

Koma slides his hat from over his face just in time to catch the first few beams of sunlight peeking through the windows. He readies himself and slowly moves out of his room. He walks to the Arcane Sanctum hoping to catch one of the descriptors as they are finishing their shift. He is eager to learn what he had found and distribute the items to those who could use them best or who may need them most.
