I know there are a number of people in this thread with interest in this particular technology, and a story turned up in my Social Media feed today. Thought I'd share, since no one else was mentioning it.

In other news, California has become the first state to ban the "Gay/Trans Panic" Defense! While it hasn't really been admissible in a court of law for some time, now it's actually illegal (in California) to claim that a murder should only be a manslaughter because it was an LGBT Hate Crime!

...It's more than a little bit disturbing that it was ever not unacceptable to do that, but progress is progress.

I always found that reprehensible. I can't believe it's something that NEEDS to be addressed.

Though sadly, I live in california and there was a case of a transpanic defense not too far from me. Apparently a local gangster had a girlfriend, and they had sex a lot, and a year later (somehow he hadn't noticed before) he found out she was pre-op, and, well...

Depends. Though usually the least likely scenario is the 'kill it all to perish in the flames of trolls ire forever.'

But we could say, get banned for a week. Or one says something not entirely wrong in response, but advocates something else the board seeks to avoid discussing. That's when they start calculating how many dwarves need to be in a Banhammer army to put down our coup.

It's significantly more worth it the less time you spend worrying about who you are and the more time you spend doing things and having experiences. That way, "who you are" ends up being "this person who has certain skills and enjoys doing certain things" and not "this person that constantly worries about who they are".

Because the answer to "Who (or what) am I" is subjective, the "popeye answer" is just as good as anything else you can spend years worrying about.

While I admit to having my doubts and some uncertainty on there being a great differences between bisexuality and pansexuality... I would take your sexuality seriously and would befriend you.

Perhaps I unfairly singled out straight people there, I've seen this from other groups too. Asexuality included.

Great, it seems like whenever I get the resolve to take a step forward with transition I find out something that scares me back I constantly fear that I'll feel how the person in the article does. Will I feel like myself? Will I miss what I have now? I don't know what I want right now. I wanted that surgery... until I found out dilation is a thing that stays for life. I don't know if I can take that constant reminder of... I don't want to say "fake" but... So then I decided I didn't want it, but as soon as I decided that I started getting dysphoric about that part of me, which I hadn't really felt before. What if hormones don't take the edge off my face? And my freakin SHOULDERS! Dammit they're too damn broad...

I just realized I don't really know what I'm talking about anymore :/ Depression has been getting to me.

Different people have different stories. Don't worry too much. If you want bottom surgery, chances are, you'll be happy with it.

That said, I've seen plenty of couples who have been together for more than a year without necessarily seeing each other's genitals AFAIK. And even so, "local gangsters" aren't terribly well-known for their conduct. It's entirely possible that the violence occurred for some unrelated reason and he realized that he could get a lesser charge with such a claim in his defense. Doesn't make it any less a murder or any less crappy, though.

I think one incident I heard of several guys killed a preop girl in high school when she got outed at a party. So maybe he ignored it until someone began to shame him. Which is of course still horrible.

She was MtF. I can't find a news story on it, but it was a story I heard from my then girlfriend. Apparently the woman was in her support group, and she was well known and liked by the trans community in the area.

This is all second hand information and hearsay mind. It's still important to bear in mind that being careful is important.

I believe you may have gotten a couple of letters mixed up, posting ban and pi instead of pan and bi.

Onto the post itself... if someone says they are bi or pan I would believe them. If they tell me they like both genders who am I to say that they are actually heterosexual or homosexual with commitment issues?
