Threatening Reach with a Whip

I'm trying to make a whip-dagger user in 3.5, and I'd just like to know if there is any way to get the whip's reach to threaten attacks of opportunity, other than using the Lasher PrC.

Ranged Threat from Dragon #350. Requires Point Blank, Precise Shot, and Combat Reflexes, 6 BAB, and you may have to hold a ranged weapon in off hand, depending on whether whips count as ranged or not.

You can also borrow Improved Whip Mastery from Pathfinder if your DM is game.

That seems much less convoluted than Ranged Threat, try for that one.
