Sad to see you go. Don't put anything dumb looking on when you see the Man Upstairs.

First Robin Williams, now Joan Rivers. Depressing.

So the song runs on, with shift and change,
Through the years that have no name,
And the late notes soar to a higher range,
But the theme is still the same.
Man's battle-cry and the guns' reply
Blend in with the old, old rhyme
That was traced in the score of the strata marks
While millenniums winked like campfire sparks
Down the winds of unguessed time. -- 4th Stanza, The Bad Lands, Badger Clark

Joan Rivers hasn't been part of many things I loved with the exception of Spaceballs and Dave the Barbarian. So it is a sad day.

A father taken by time, a brother dead by my own hand.
With this work behold my grief, in Stone and shifting sand.

To be fair, it's not like this came out of left field. Still sad to see her pass but the loss of Williams was a tragedy. Rivers was 81 and in relatively poor health from all I've heard. We've lost another comedy star but this is one we could have at least seen coming in the next few years.

Yeah, the moment I heard that she was in the hospital because of what happened during that outpatient procedure, I looked at my wife and said "She's done for, she'll be dead in a week or less", and I was, sadly, right about it.

Pretty much my exact thoughts. Even her more recent public appearances seemed like she wasn't doing well. Not to feed into the rumor mill or anything. I was never invested in Ms. Rivers but her contributions to comedy can't be hand waved away. I'm really hoping Rickles isn't next.
