What would YOU do?

You're a wizard (17th level) and one of the great heroes of the world. You fought off horrors, ooze stuff from the stars and even saved a cat from a tree for the old lady who works in the kitchens in the king's palace.

After fighting off one of the greatest beasties known to the world, you decide to take a good long nap. You earned it and the kingdom can take care of itself cos' of all those new laws in place and stuff. Plus the king's got good policemen or whatever.

You go to Temporal Stasis intending to sleep for a few weeks but the something goes wrong. You sleep for thousands of years and when you awake, find yourself in a glass case with pickets or something like that all around you and people surrounding you all in white, attempting to poke and prod you.

You manage a spell and whisk yourself away, to a special bolthole somewhere underground. You use magic to find out about those people and are shocked. Life has moved on, people have changed. Magic has faded and in its place is technology and everyone you know is dead.

People now live in vast powered cities with machines that allow them to travel faster than a horse and all the creatures that you use to fight like orcs and goblins now work as lawyers and grocers...eww

What do you do in the world of today...even as you struggle to keep all your emotions together in the new world?

(Basically a medieval wizard in a D20 world only without the magics and stuff)

Why am I thinking of this ?

1. Contact Other Plane, see if the outer planes were affected and if the deities still exist, also maybe get some useful information about the new state of reality.

2. Acquire a familiar. It'll be good to have someone else who understands the nature of magic.

3. Get hold of a chunk of funny-looking metal, work it into the shape of a strange technological device, use it as a cover in case anyone sees my magic ("oh, that lightning bolt that you saw come out of my hands? It actually came out of this weird box that I found in a crater").

4. Ride to success using divinations to make a killing as a political analyst and/or via betting on sports events.

OR

1. Research Teleport Through Time, and cast it to go back to a few weeks after you entered the Temporal Stasis.

2. Arrange conditions such that past-you is taken out of temporal stasis, but not while future-you is in the same room (pay someone else to cast it)

3. Past-you woke up at the originally appointed time. This means that future-you ceases to exist, and past-you gets to live his life normally. You transfer over to an alternate universe where you didn't go into the future at all, but someone woke you up after the prearranged time, blathering about some duplicate of you from the future (thank you, quantum suicide). Since past-you was awoken by someone other than future-you, there is no paradox.

4. Ride to success as a 17th-level wizard in a properly magical world.
