I could have sworn that not have a soul and a body that are spereate meant thart the soul was the body and/or vice versa.

If the soul is the body, it would result in the soul leaving itself, which would mean that it would rend it self apart, thus ceasing to exist.

Which makes sense-most nonprestige class outsiders can't be resurrected and since they can only be killed in their native plane of by being called, and thus have nowhere for their soul to go anyway, it's easy to interpret non resurrectability as a result of physical destruction destroying the creature utterly.

Actually what happens when an outsider dies in another plane is their essence goes back to their home plane to be eventually reborn, which usually results in a loss of power.
However, killing an outsider on their home plane completely obliterates them.

They can only be killed for real on their home plane, or if they were called witrh a calling effect.

When killed for real, an outsider is gone forever.

An outsider can onlly be killed, for real, on thir home plane, or, if they are summoned with a calling effect.

In such an event, an Outsider is destroyed utterly-no chance of resurrection because there's nothing left to resurrect.

If Summoned to an other plain by a summoning effect, or otherwise as an extraplaner rather than native, and klilled, then all that happens is they go home, essentially.

You and I are essentially both rewording that point.

Doesn't an outsider summoned with a Calling effect or who accessed the material plane through some portal still regenerate on their home plane, and Summoning is either a generic copy of something or they just instantly teleport back?

It is my understanding that a called/portal'd in outsider that dies in another plane returns to their home plane to be reborn, while a summoned outsider is more like an astral projection that simply disappears leaving the original unaffected.

I mean, if their essence returns to the home plane, and they have no separation of body and soul, doesn't that mean their remains would just dissipate through the planar barriers back to their home plane as soon as they died?

No bodies are left, so you can have some awesome death scenes where the body disappears, such as suddenly combusting and burning away to nothing.

Fiendish Codex 1 has a table to randomly roll on to determine what happens to a demon's corpse after death. It's possible to recover them intact.

There's also a Revive Outsider spell, as well as a specification in Complete Divine that true resurrection can bring one back, "sifting through the plane and reconstituting it" - which is consistent with the spell description's statement that it works on them:

I think it's supposed to be that someone thought Mind Blank was as offensive spell/power and used it on the enemy whose mind he wanted to be blank.

Depends on edition and book within that edition. 3e is self contradictory, for example.

Mind Flayer's signature mind flaying attack is actually magical, not psionic.

So under a certain ruleset and against all common sense, the psionic version of Mind Blank will do nothing against one.

Even with magic-psionic transparency, any form of mind blank would not help against the mind blast:

The subject is protected from all devices, powers, and spells that detect, influence, or read emotions or thoughts.

That spell like ability does not detect, influence or read the target's thoughts or emotions.
Some of the other "psionic" abilities (charm monster, detect thoughts, suggestion) will be stopped by psionic mind blank because they are spell-like abilities and those work like spells, which are stopped by psionic mind blank. This again is regardless of whether transparency is in effect.

This power protects against powers with the mind-affecting or scrying descriptors.

Spell like abilities are not powers.

Additionally Mind Blast is not even classified as a mind-affecting ability.

Mind Blast (Sp): This psionic attack is a cone 60 feet long. Anyone caught in this cone must succeed on a DC 17 Will save or be stunned for 3d4 rounds. Mind flayers often hunt using this power and then drag off one or two of their stunned victims to feed upon. The save DC is Charisma-based. This ability is the equivalent of a 4thlevel spell.

Seems fairly clear-cut to me. Mind Blast being technically bit mind affecting makes it moot though.
