OotS: historical basis?
Archaeologists find 6,000-year-old temple in Ukraine
Ornaments and figurines
Fragments of figurines, some of which look similar to humans, were also found at the temple. Like findings at other Trypillian sites, some of the figurines have noses that look like beaks and eyes that are dissimilar, one being slightly larger than the other.

Kerbals from KSP also have asymmetric eyes, but no noses.

To be fair, humans may have once possessed noses, which would explain the odd hole in the middle of a human's skull, close to where a cat's nose would be. So it's at least possible noses were chronologically accurate in this instance....
