Re: Games you still have not finished
Possibly.
Alternatively I should marathon a new game on the day I buy it before something attempts to take it away. Or maybe I should have the wife buy my games. She's got a few purchases that she hasn't even started and they're still here ten years later (like Final Fantasy 9).

Re: Games you still have not finished
I've beaten Pokemon Omega Ruby. Too bad real life and family obligations kept me from making much headway on my other to play games on my list.

That game was released last week. That's not long!
Around here, we count play times in years or even decades. We are not standing on the shoulders of giants, but on very tall tower of other dwarves.

Re: Games you still have not finished
TES IV: Oblivion and TES II: Daggerfall: I prefer Morrowind and Skyrim to Oblivion by far, and I found myself unbelievably bored by the main quest. Daggerfall is in my opinion a hidden masterpiece but I've never even heard of anyone beating the main quest- the game is absolutely ruled by sidequests.
Final Fantasy VI: I started playing it a few months ago and LOVED everything about it but once I got to the world of ruin I had a hard time getting back in gear.
Hearts of Iron II (Darkest Hour) (Kaiserreich mod): I've played this mod as Serbia, Qing Empire (China), Ukraine, Ethiopia, Alash Orda (Kazakhstan), Socialist Republic of Italy and Mexico, but I always lose interest once I become a superpower and defeat all my regional enemies and never bother finishing the game.Originally Posted by inuyashaOriginally Posted by Jormengand

Re: Games you still have not finished
I have this same problem with Victoria 2, I can expand for a good long time, them I just hit a wall and don't want to go on. Building the country is the fun part there, not to say that late game isn't fun, just early game is more fun to me.
Mount and Blade:Warband- now that steam workshop is integrated and working, im getting distracted from vanilla and playing Gekokujo mod.
Spore, like it but I cant finish it.
Men of War (any)- fun but too hard for me, I'm not that good at any of them.
Dungeon Siege 1 and 2- some of those dungeon maps feel absolutely endless, especially near the end of the game. (I'm not even touching 3 here, they changed the concept a little too much for my liking)
X series (terran conflict, albion prelude, others) sandbox hellpit, too many choices.
Rollercoaster tycoon- currently playing, the wife and I have beaten most of the first set of scenarios on the first game. tedious sometimes, but fun.
Warhammer: Battle March Mark of Chaos- too many hard duels on higher difficulty levels and im not that good at it.
Many others too, for my gaming career is long. I start more than I ever finish, but there have been some good ones on the road.Last edited by blacklight101; 2014-11-29 at 09:40 PM.
My opinion and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee at the 7/11, most others want the dollar too :P

Re: Games you still have not finished
I tend to play only one game at a time--don't like dipping in and out of games at random, I start getting confused as to where the plot is and what the controls for the game are. So, if I buy a game on a Friday (and it isn't just some random thing I fancied in a Steam sale), chances are I'll play it for a week, finish it, and never go back to it.
@blacklight101: The trick to handling something like the X series is to give yourself a single, overriding goal and to work exclusively towards that by any means necessary. Once you reach that goal, make up another one and aim for that instead. That's how I do them, anyway...although the concept of "finishing" a largely sandbox game is a bit nebulous anyway!

Re: Games you still have not finished
I've finished Hearts of Iron 2 multiple times (including Arsenal of Democracy which I think is a better version of it)
I always run out of steam after a few generations in Crusader Kings though.
One day I'll do that paradox grand campaign (CK > EU2 > Vicky > HoI2 via save conversion), as long as I keep telling myself it'll happen, it'll happen, right?

Re: Games you still have not finished
And I love the X series, I just get so bogged down in all that little management stuff too. Stations and universal traders are typically what I do. It's the overarching goals that get me, I can make a few and get them done, but after a while I (and my computer) can feel the strain of managing so many traders and stations. I wish I had my total log of hours, not just what it showed on steam. I think it would be most played game so far.
Finishing the campaign, though, that might be what I have to do at some point. I just didn't like how (in x3 TC) they give you little weenie ships and almost no cash and expect you to do all that plot stuff. the only starts I can do any good at is trading anyway- maybe that's the way to do it, that or find those "hidden" ships. My opinion and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee at the 7/11, most others want the dollar too :P

Re: Games you still have not finished
I finally finished Thief last weekend. That's a game I tried to get into at least three times since it came out 16 years ago. And now I also realize why I never got very far into it. The third level really sucks.

Sins of a Solar Empire.
Kerbal Space Program.
Tetris.
I recently beat Asteroids. The final boss was hard.
For realsies,
Dragon Age 2 (just didn't dig the story like the first one, ya know).
Bioshock Infinite (same).
SWTOR (I've gotten back into it now, though).
Super Mario Bros (without those cheating pipes. I'm talking about every level here).
Lastly, Chip's Challenge (Lynx version. Beat all 149 levels on the Microsoft version. Took a bit over a year back when I was 14. I loved that Lynx, though...). Also, I dub Chip's Challenge one of the greatest games ever.Cuthalion's art is the prettiest art of all the art. Like my avatar.

Re: Games you still have not finished
With Bravely Second coming out next year, I'll have to get around to finally finishing Bravely Default. I wonder if there are any carry over bonuses for beating the first game.

Re: Games you still have not finished
You mean Down in the Bonehoard, presumably? Yeah, that one wasn't great--just way too many undead wandering around, you run out of holy water arrows and flash bombs quite quickly, and it's nearly impossible to find your way around the place with all the multiple-level stuff going on and only having a 2D approximate map.

*Gulp* I...I don't even know, but I can tell you the number is roughly in the forties. Some of them I'm working on, others...consoles break, discs frak out, save files erase - nightmarish.
Fortunately, I've completed every Pokemon game I've ever owned .

Re: Games you still have not finished
I am currently about three quarters through Thief 2, and I am actually starting to miss all those zombies, buriks, and beastmen. With the exception of a single level, this game is all steampunk with no fantasy elements other than moss and vine arrows. Now I just want to get it over with to get to Thief 3, but I am just not having fun with it anymore.
