I assumed they did that to explain the multiple actors already playing wedge in the original trilogy.

I've been waiting for Nerd-o-rama to provide clarification, but I assumed that Nerd-o-rama knew why the Irregulars made Wedge a shapeshifter. Note that the original reason wouldn't mean that the Irregulars couldn't get an unexpected extra opportunity by being able to have Wedge possibly shapeshift again in TFA and become Poe, which I think is what Nerd-o-rama is expecting.

I don't know if the Irregulars would bother having Wedge become Poe. though. That was strictly a behind the scenes issue, as far as I know. I don't remember Poe being Poe creating anything odd in the movie itself that would be worth satirizing.

I think the two parts of the post were unrelated. One was about today's comic, the other because Rogue One is the next one that that's being done, so they want to be able to understand the comic when it gets to that point.

Yes, that. And you are right, but it's a funny backstage gag in my opinion and they are both ridiculously skilled X-Wing pilots who occasionally do spy/commando work, and super-friendly guys.

From my internet foray, it seems to be more common in Commonwealth countries (so, yes, Australia), but is otherwise the same as 'net'. So, yeah, I'd just chalk it up to that.

Been watching Rogue One again, and goodness gracious, that film leaves me an emotional wreck at times. Which makes me think that the CI might decide to flip the switch and play... certain scenes in a comedic light.

I mean, that film has so much pathos lurking under the surface (and often not so lurking) that it's almost begging to be flipped on its head and turned into a black comedy.

...

Although, since we might be expecting this, the CIers might go in yet another direction to keep us guessing.

And that seems to have been about the extent of their interactions. In fact, none of the D&D party (heh) seem to do much together away from the table. Even Ben and Sally, since he moved on to teaching.

Anyway, I was wondering how they'd do that Force Ghost scene at the end, and the result was scarier than any horror movie I've seen in the last couple decades.

Luke and Obi-Wan's dialogue is pretty clearly set up to reference the trailer for episode VIII. Now I wonder whether Yoda's ghost will continue to play a role in the sequel trilogy, despite being absent from the actual movie of VII. After all, Nute wasn't in the OT movies, but remained in the D&D version of the OT.

Not just because the first few strips of "A New Generation" were chock full of Legends references (it was made before the Disney acquisition was announced and long before the rumors about what would become R1 started to surface).

That would be semi-easy enough (rename characters and/or play up Jim's cluelessness). No, it's more the fact that R1 LITERALLY slides into Ep 4.

Even that could be massaged, except for the presence of Vader. A big big deal was made when (s)he first showed up that they didn't know who this cat was. That makes it pretty hard to show Vader's iconic battle in R1.

Still might be possible with some revisionist history. But I am starting to think that the best way it might be done is either with an entirely different group or the group 'replaying' that campaign and it flying off the rails because of character foreknowledge.

Them 'replaying' a campaign might be interesting, now that I think of it. Quite a few gamer tropes there to be mined.

Probably not though. Still, those first dozen or so strips do make for some continuity issues IF they make this an extended flashback. Even little things like the implication this is the first time the Star Destroyer model was used.. Enough so that I am doubting more and more that this will be a prior campaign that we never saw.

Just WHAT it will be instead we'll start finding out in August, I suppose.
