Well otherwise discussions would be on topic or something ridiculous like that!

Neelix had his moments, but generally I found his entire demeanor not only annoying, but also just...I don't know, he had this whole attitude of self-importance combined with how controlling he was of Kes and it just came off as unpleasant. The worst? That bleep bleep with the Kazon for two years. I cannot believe that they were originally expected to last the life of the series as the new "klingon" type opponents.

Voyager did not really hit its stride (my opinion) til year 4. The early ones were hits and misses.

Oh, the other worst: That 2 episode time-travel "year to forget" thing. Great premise, but absolutely horrid execution.

    Janeway ...
    Vulcan was Tuvok.

Seven was alright, and I did like the Seven-Janeway dynamic, but I was always a little resentful about how she "replaced" Kes who was such an underutilised character, and she had only just recently started to grow and evolve. And I thought that the "old Kes" they brought back was just a terrible idea.

The Kazon were dumb. Voyager never really got good villains of their own.

@Peelee: Naomi Wildman was just adorable, and added some extra life to the show. She also had some really great scenes with Seven. She had a great episode with Neelix even, where the crew thinks her mom may have died and Neelix is being over-protective of her.

Im sad that my brain lumped her in with the other forgettable characters like Paris and whatshisname. No joke, I can t remember the other guys name. You know exactly who I'm talking about, too.

Also, I was upset about all the blatant trying-to-rip-off-the-good-Star-Treks they had going on. Chakotay (sp?) was about the only really original character in the main bridge crew, and I feel like they missed a lot of opportunities with the whole "disillusioned with the Federation" faction they had going on. Though super bonus points for bringing back Lt. Broccoli. Loved his episodes in TNG.

Generally, I agree with you, but I wasn't as bothered by Neelix as you. Often he came across as a bit of a clown and I just didn't let it bother me when he did. Yes, he did dominate Kes in the earlier episodes, but to me that was at least as much a flaw of Kes's character as it was Neelix's. Kes just seemed to be a cute helpless waif and the writers didn't know what else to do with her. Like you, I was frustrated that more wasn't done with her character. And yes, I hated the episode where she came back for vengeance.

Yeah, he was really annoying, but at least he wanted something. He wanted everybody to think he was really great at things, would lie about how great he was, and endanger everybody's lives with his incompetence and usually not even recognize he had done so.

Ensign Kim? Yeah...he was pretty stiff.

Chakotay was another character with great potential, and they really dropped the Maquis stuff way too quickly. In the second episode Chakotay was all "she's the captain" and was suddenly chill with serving under a Starfleet captain. The rest of the Maquis crew also seemed to mellow out really fast. There were a couple of "conflict" episodes, then the conflict just stopped, that was it.

Broccoli was a little unnecessary IMO, and I liked him better in TNG, but he was a fun addition to the Voyager crew. The shoehorning-in of Troi didn't need to happen though, that seemed like some pretty obvious ratings bait.

When he tried to be cool he took up the saxophone!

And he misses his girlfriend and parents and stuff.

Paris at least had a personality (even if it was a cliché one).

I always figured the girl was ratings bait too. "This show's in trouble! Quick, get a cute sprogging to throw in there."

Suddenly adding a cute kid to a show is a bad habit of Hollywood, and a good sign that something's in terminal decline. Of course, Voyager pretty much started there.

I didn't catch it either, and I've actually seen the movie so I knew what to look for.

It looks like there weren't any good screen grabs for the guys attacking those troopers. Either that, or the screen grabs were deliberately blurry, to match the failed spot checks. In which case...kudos.

O yeah, we still have five whole pages to spam full before the next topic starter just picks their own suggestion anyway!

No really, just the way I like it, I'm joining in:

Darths and Droids VI: Going Rogue

Darths and Droids VI: If we had posted a little more the topic numbers would still have stopped matching up to the movie numbers. (Yes, I assume there is a character limit, why do you ask?)

Yes! Bab 5, first 4 seasons, and perhaps half of season 5.

The whole thing with the Centauri / ... mind flayer thingies was wonderfully done. Sherridan was NOT the hero -- everything that he was trying to build, he destroyed in an instant by saying "I don't care if everyone else broke the rules, I value the alliance more than I value following the rules". Even the whole Psycorp thing -- instead of, you know, *paying* Talia for her help, he sent her a bill for living quarters. He basically laid the ground work for a new psycorp to protect telepaths from government abuse in the future (a new union, a new organization, ...), etc.

When the Centauri needed help, he was not there.
When the Shadow's allies moved in to the power void, he did nothing to stop them, or work against them.

Here comes the new boss, no better than the old boss.

I was more than a bit confused, because my first thought was about the other person who is trending, and I had no idea what that had to do with me. Realized what you meant a second later, though.

After my initial dread, I've decided to remain optimistic, and just have my hopes and dreams crushed later. Worked for the prequels.

I added the third line just for that reason.

Another vote for Darths and Droids VI: Deep Space Nine was the best.

The typical system is that everyone puts in votes for all the ones that are acceptable, and then whichever has the most total votes gets used. This leads to things that are generally acceptable being used rather than things that 3 people thought were best beating out a dozen things people generally liked but couldn't agree on which was best.
