Minor spoilers/comment about the scene just shown in the latest D&D strip.
SpoilerThose weren't stun shots in the movie, keybounce. But you probably already figured that out on your own.Concluded: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
In answer to the questions in today's comments, this isn't the first time (chronologically) we've seen walkers. They had two types for the assault on Kashyyyk in RotS. Designated AT-PE and AT-TE, I think.

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
Variations of the chicken walkers have shown up in Rebels, as well.
Edit:: And an earlier predecessor to that chicken walker (which was used like a horse with the rider exposed to the open air) showed up in RotS and The Clone Wars.Last edited by Porthos; 2017-09-17 at 03:37 PM.

Meerkat, sounds like they are remembering one of those gag strips, the one where they were all meerkats.

I have to agree with our distinguished commentators here. Cassian is coming off pretty weaksauce.

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
I agree.
Also, regarding Keybounce's commentary, the way I read 1548, Bria was forced to take cover near the tank, so Cassian tried to stun the rebel who was going to grenade the tank. He wanted to protect Bria, not the tank. I don't know why the tank exploded on page 1549 (a second grenade?), but Bria and Cassian had run away from it by that point.

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
That is not a sword. That is a blind cane. You know, like blind people use to walk without running into anything. If it were a melee weapon, it would be glowing.

Don't worry, we quickly find out that
A) It is a staff, and
B) The specific type of staff.

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
Yes, I make that correction in future commentary!
I do find it a little odd though that both Keybounce and I made the same mistake. The moment Sunday's strip went up and I looked at it again I realised it was clearly not a bladed weapon. But somehow, upon first inspection it appeared sword-like to both of us.
And everyone knows that blind canes are just melee weapons in disguise.

A two is enough to dodge blaster fire?

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
We don't exactly know what system they use. It's clearly d20 based, but that's about it.
There are systems where the dodge roll reduces the attack roll. A -2 on the attack roll that turns a 14 into a 12, when a 13 was the target number would be enough to dodge.
The 15, 19 and 14 likewise could have reduced the attack roll below the minimum threshold and turned them into crit failures.

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
So we know Jim will end up playing four characters who die (of which Antilles will be the fourth). I think it's fairly evident that Jim will eventually take over Bria, given that she's a central character.
Now, I may be slow, as I just realized:
Spoiler: Rogue OneAnnie is playing Cassian, and I expect Jim to take over Brian/Jyn. The movie ended with Jyn and Cassian embracing. Which means that once again, there will be some degree of romantic involvement between Jim's and Annie's characters.

I was thinking more along the lines of how bullets never go to the next person in line, swords don't cut the person behind you, etc.
But that's still an interesting trope. Not "fire at". I never used the word "at"

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
I don't think that's a trope so much as just physics. Unless youre using serious overkill bullets, they tend to get stuck in people, especially if theyre wearing some kind of armor. Ironically, this actually makes said overkill bullets worse, because having a bullet bounding around in you is a lot worse for you than having one go through cleanly.

"Bulletproof Human Shield", I suspect. (Although I'd have to look more closely if it also deals with sword strikes)
