Seraphina raised an eyebrow at Zaladane's statement. "We're you listening when the old man mentioned the big important staff that all the orcs would want?I was barely listening, but I still noticed that." Seraphina didn't take her eyes from the ruin, looking for any sort of movement., and holding her shield at the ready.

"Why yes, I was listening. And unlike most, I actually paid attention to what was said. The professor clearly was not sure if he's found what he and Sethus were looking for. Not another soul outside of our group and this Sethus fellow know about it, so why ever would you expect a band of orcs or their motley supporters to suddenly appropriate this knowledge and come here, hmm?"

"Because there's something here that they'd want, and just because Fancy Pants thinks that nobody but them knows don't make it impossible for them to find out some other way?"

At the Front Gate

Nearing the front gate, Crommard calls back to Zaladane, "It must be! Hartok! Roget! Edward?"

Zaladane focuses for a moment but is unable to see past some psychic disturbance nearby, as if several screams had been suddenly cut off.

Swooping around to a roost farther back, Drekek is well hidden but unable to perch high enough to see over the walls.

With more careful scrutiny, there is definitely movement seen behind the forward arrow slits. The narrowness of the slits prevent more detailed analysis. Whoever it is does not return Crommard's call.

"Something... is wrong... I felt a great disturbance, as if many voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened!"

Zaladane is extremely discomfited by whatever she's sensed psychically that she mentally shifts gears and prepares for trouble.

Change concentration to the Conquering Mind discipline. While concentrating on this, Zaladane has advantage on all charisma checks.

Silivar grows uneasy when no response is forthcoming. He pulls his wand off his belt and begins twirling it anxiously in his hand. Squinting at the movement, he whispers a few short magical intonations and cups his hand over his mouth in a mock-whisper as he casts his cantrip.

Using Message to the person hiding behind the arrow slit. "We can see you. Show yourself or I'll turn you into a newt."

Crommard turns and calls back, "Hold! Why are threatening..." when an arrow flies from the narrow gap and catches him in the shoulder. The sage squeals and begins stumbling back from the gate.

Drekek sees an arrow fly, but it too late to warn the man about it. It lodges itself in his shoulder and he squeals and stumbles backwards. "That is not a sound a man makes," Drek whispers to himself. He readies himself for combat, his primal power surging through him and welling up inside for him to tap into.

Cursing, Cressida tumbles for the nearest cover.

"Speaking of orcs," she says, "a shiny copper to anyone who can guess who's shooting at us!

As soon as she sees Crommard stumbling back in pain, with arrow embedded in his shoulder, the Mystic immediately drops to the ground to present a smaller target.

Almost immediately, the academic's analytical mind tries to ascertain where the attack has come from based on the angle of attack and trajectory of the arrow flight, compensating for current wind patterns.

At the Front Gate

Seeing the punctured sage, Drekek prepares for battle and Zaladane falls to her knees and points to the arrow slit nearest the entry. "There! That is the projectile's point of origin!" Cressida tumbles behind a desiccated stump for some protection.

Fifteen foot smooth walls form the entrance to the citadel. Narrow arrow slits at five feet height line the roofless passage and puncture the front gate area. A five foot high rough stone wall to the north keeps the cliffside safe.

Seraphina examined the wall more closely. The orcs did a good job on their positioning for the attack. Trying to get around the wall would take too long, especially with the orcs shooting at her the entire time. But Seraphina wasn't going to go running around aimlessly when there was a fight to be had. Especially if there was another way around.

Seraphina waved her arms trying to get Drekek's attention. "Hey, Flyboy! You think you could give a halfling a boost to get at those orcs?" she called out.

After doing a sweep of what he'd be able to see, Drek sees the little morsel halfling waving her arms and heard her ask for a lift. He nodded his head and gave her an affirmative wave. Then he dive bombs one of the orcs with bows and perches on top of the wall, waiting for the halfling to get to him.

Move + Bonus - Move and Dash for bonus as described. Drekek will end his move 15ft off the ground right over whichever one Zer targeted and attack that one if he doesn't kill it. If he does, Drek will attack the opposite one. He will then continue his movement until he is perched at L10 on top of the wall.

Having received a sneaky mind blast from Zaladane, the bladed shaft from Drekek is to much for the first orc who, with a growl of distaste, falls to the ground confused and pierced.

Silivar points his wand and releases a trio of magic missiles at the second orc. They fly unerringly towards their target, finding the arrow slit to be room enough to get in.

Realizing too late the pointlessness of small holes versus magic, the second sentry falls to the ground. The third guard farther up the corridor, finding his back no longer covered, raises his crossbow and fires at the looming Aarakocra piercing the winged one. The ogrillon hiding by the well howls a challenge but stays in position.

Standing proudly atop the wall, you see the Aarakocra 'winged' by a flying arrow from below. From deeper in the citadel, you hear a roar, revealing more creatures hiding within.

Sovellis runs northeast about 10 feet before jumping onto the short 5 foot wall and continuing along it for about 25 feet and jumping diagonally to the higher wall and grabbing hold of the lip, before climbing up near Drekek. After surveying the scene he continues toward the orc archer.

Dash for action, movement = 90 feet. Move diagonally from c7 to e5, jumping up the 5 foot wall to f4 [15 to 20 feet of movement]. Then continuing running along the wall to K4 [40 to 45 feet of movement]. From K4 I'm jumping to L7 and grabbing hold of the lip of the wall (the height of my jump is 7 feet, but I can reach up to almost to 15 feet) (50 to 60 feet of movement]. After grabbing the lip I climb up to the top of the wall L7 [55 to 65 feet of movement] and move to about Q7 or as far along row 7 as I can. [80 to 90 feet].

As the arrow lodges itself into his feathers, Drek looks over to see the large, orc-like thing let out a great roar. He hears the gnome ask to its origins, but Drek has never seen its likeness. "I do not know, it seems to be some sort of orc-monsters....but even uglier. I have not been witness to such a creature yet, on this plane. Whatever it is....it seems to be calling its allies from within the ruins."

"Whatever it is, I bet it dies to the same things orcs do!"Seraphina sain, rushing the wall, preparing to make the leap over.

A furious burst of movement scatters the group. Zaladane reaches out mentally, searching for a target. Jammer moves forward, looking for a target. Serphina rushes the wall eyes and arms up to her winged companion. Sovellis runs and bounds, nearly bouncing, from wall to wall, and up and along.

While having much in common with the guttural orcish tones, this one has far more bass notes and a rumbling quality that sounds more ogrish. You decide it must be that half breed of orc and ogre: the ogrillon.

As soon as the halfling get to the wall, she is scooped up by Drek's talons. He takes off, but his talons aren't quite as closed as he thought and she slips and starts to fall. He immediately grabs her again, but looks down at her. If he had facial expressions he would look a little embarrassed. However he just looks down at her, head upside down to her, "Apologies. Not used too grabbing things that I am not tearing my talons into.....like food." A few chirps and clicks follow this line. This, of course, was a joke. And, again, it is so hard to tell with Drekek.

With no targets in sight, Cressida springs out of cover and closes on the wall. Spying an orc on the other side of an arrow slit, she lets loose with another eldritch blast.

Inside the Citadel

With Seraphina's wild charge and Cressida's light show, things begin heating up inside the citadel. The final visible orc takes a blast from behind the wall, staggering him, but he stays on his feet well enough to dodge the blow from the incoming halfling. Facing a close foe, he drops his bow and draws a greataxe. With long measured swipes, he takes measure of his opponent and chops at the first opening. A mighty swing but easily side-stepped.

Back in the hallway Silivar, taking the long way around, hugs the wall, catching flashing glimpses of what lies on the other side. As he moves farther down the hall, a twanging crossbow gets his attention as a bolt speeds towards him. Flattened against the wall, it clatters down the corridor harmlessly.
