This isn't exactly new, but after reading DSTP again and thinking about the Oracle banishing Roy because he has a meeting with the Ancient Black Dragon, I wonder what Roy would have tried to do if he'd been there to hear the ABD's question and the Oracle's response (and, presumably, some chatter from the ABD as to what she planned to do with this information).

Heh, well, I think he knows if one of his party members and hir family are in mortal danger (as well as post-mortal danger) he would try his damnedest to figure out something he could to do help.

I do appreciate a good "Roy doesn't listen to anyone else" joke, though, considering how much that seems to be at the center of all his problems.

I just realized the tint which is applied to the illusions triggered in the room before Girard's Gate from #887 onward is gradually introduced when Roy begins to use the Spellsplinter Manuever on Xykonwhen Xykon's meteor swarm kills Belkar in #886.

Realized it began earlier than I thought by looking at Xykon's robe.

Edit: And now I just realized Roy's armor is purple instead of blue from the first panel.

Despite being used for the "featured character" on the cover of DSTP, V never actually appears in his old design in that book (outside of the recap, cast page, and one of the bonus mini-strips), going from several stages of trance deprivation, to Darth Vaarsuvius, to post-Splice messy hair, to ponytail.

Eugene makes a Dragon Ball Z reference, talking about how Roy would train with a martial arts master while he waits for his friends to revive him. Pretty sweet reference, and easy to notice. Now, what I hadn't noticed until now is that it's a pretty nice foreshadowing of Roy's stay in Celestia and meeting his grandpa. Well, I guess Roy's future psychic powers come from his father :P

It kind of raises the question of why there's so much stitching. Did they need to cut her arm in like ten different places as part of the golem'ing process? I mean, she got shot with four arrows in the chest and then slashed down the face, it's not like they needed to put her back together.

Does her soul remember? Is this part of the whole "vengeance golem" thing?

Could be that her soul was bound as the golem's animating spirit instead of the standard earth elemental. Souls = class levels might be how it works.

Yes, that makes sense. Also, I just re-read Grubwiggler's speech where he states that he purposely integrated her mind and personality into the golem, on Bozzok's orders. I guess that could also be called her soul, for lack of any better term.

And given that souls definitely do exist in OoTsworld.

EDIT: And in reading 980 again, I just noticed Crystal throwing the hilt of her broken knife at Bozzok, inflicting a chest wound, in the middle of his conversation with Grubwiggler (panel 13). It looks like Bozzok does a partial parry, given his arm motion and the track the hilt follows in mid-air.

Maybe it's Crystal's brain, and someone else's head. The faces all look the same.

I suspect this is one of those cases where RAW aren't conducive to good storytelling, and therefore were conveniently bent to the needs of the plot.
