Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 On the Euro
So seeing as how nearly half the GMR games are done and over with.
GMR 1 was won to a concede, GMR 2 died as far as I can tell. GMR 3 was won by conquest, GMR 4 was won by Science, GMR 6 died, and GMR 9 is a scenario that was won.
I figured we needed more GMR games.
But I needed a gimmick, something to differentiate it from all other games.
Then it hit me.
A huge map.
10-14 players (ideally), striving for dominance!
The map would be a vote, (As long as I can control size)
And then, since there are so many players, I figured I'd roll randomly for us to pick civ's in order.
That or random, I'll let you vote.
So who's with me?

I'm game! I don't really care about map type or civ selection procedure, so I'll abstain on those votes but I assume we'll be playing with all expansions and dlc?

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
You can list me tentatively, I've been reading these for so long that I want to join in. Just know, however, that once December rolls around there will be about three weeks where I more than likely won't be able to do anything. That, and I've never done anything with GMR before.
I've got everything, so I'm good for whatever we do.Happiness is mandatory, citizen. Remember, a happy citizen is a loyal citizen. Failure to be happy at all times is a violation of Alpha Complex regulations. In the event you are unhappy, please immediately inform your Loyalty Officer.

Count me in. And I vote for random order of picking civs.

I'll be in if we're doing random civilizations. I prefer going into the game without an overall plan and adapt depending on the civilization I get.

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
I'll put my hat into the ring, as I like the gimmick we would be going for, but if we do go for a big game, we should do a map that's one size too small for the amount of players. Force a little more border tension.
Either that, or I will put my perennial recommendation for a non-wrapping map in.
I'm fine for either random order picking or straight up random civs.So Much for the Glory of Rome, a Crusader Kings 2 Let's Play

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
Okay. That's 10, which could start the timer for player sign ups.
But since 2 players are only a maybe. I'm adverse to starting one right now.Avatar by Honest Tiefling

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
Eh, I've only got one game going at the moment, might as well throw my hat in this one too. Random civs are fine with me, although if we're picking a specific theme for the game and map, imposing a thematic limit on civ choice might work too.
In regards to the map, I would note that from what I've seen of pseudo-europe (and indeed a lot of the 'real-world' region maps) natural wonders tend to be rather scarce, which can impact things a bit, especially if someone's playing Spain. Although that's probably less of an issue than Pseudo-Earth's infamously wonky start location placements.
Still, I'm happy to go along with whatever it is people want.

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
I'll join if there's space, but don't have much hope for the viability of such a big game.

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
Why not just play a normal wraparound map? Map borders create inbalances that influence strategy too much.
Also, if we go with completely random civs, I reserve the right to quit on the spot if I roll an awful one. Many thanks to Assassin 89 for this avatar!

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
Well, if we have twelve players, I guess I'll remove the "tentative" qualifier on my interest in playing.
I reserve the right to ragequit if I find myself in another hopeless situation though.
Also, with an oversized map, have you considered setting the maximum number of city-states?
