Nethack Poetry

[Shishnarfne]

Having played a bit of Nethack lately, I was inspired to rhyme.
Hopefully people who have played it will enjoy some of these.

Including "Team Ant,"

"A" are the angels,
When you're near triumphant,

"b" are the blobs,
Whose acid burns,

"B" include bats,
Who get many turns,

"c" is the cockatrice,
The dread "Rubber Chicken,"

"C" is for Centaur,
Who will kick your face in,

"d" are the canines,
Including your dear pet,

"D" are the dragons,
Whose scales we covet,

"e" is for eyeball,
Whom we ought not melee,

"E" is the elemental,
Our ascension they delay,

"f" is for feline,
Our dear little cat,

"F" is for fungus,
Hey, don't hit that!

"g" is for gremlin,
Don't feed after midnight,

"G" is for gnome,
They guard the Mines tight,

"h" is for dwarf,
AND the dread mind flayer,

"H" are your giants,
Of many flavors,

"i" are your imps,
And the tengu we consume,

Will it be your doom?

"j" is for jelly,
Please don't you laugh,

"J" is the Jabberwock,
Vorpal cuts it in half,

"k" is for kobolds,
Who are no big deal,

"K" are the Kops,
They come when you steal,

"l" is for Leprechaun,
Who steal all your gold,

"L" is for Lich,
Who freeze your blood cold,

"m" is for mimic,
Who haunt the store,

"M" is for mummy,
Don't eat the corpse!

"n" is for nymph,
They steal your stuff,

"N" is the nagas,
They might be tough,

"o" is the orc,
They fight in groups,

"O" is the Ogre,
Not an "H"? Oops.

"p" is for piercer,
They land on your head,

"P" is for pudding,
Soon to be dead,

"q" are the quadrupeds,
They are quite large,

"Q" is the Quantum Mechanic,
A box for no charge!

"r" is for rodent,
Have you seen the woodchuck?

"R" is the rust monster,
Hope you've got good luck!

"s" is for spider,
Careful, don't blink,

"S" is for snake,
Did you kick the sink?

"t" is for trapper,
Burrp! No more pet,

"T" is for Troll,
Back up they get,

"u" is for unicorn,
Their horns have great use,

"U" is the Umber Hulk,
Our minds they confuse,

"v" is for vortex,
Now I can't see!

"V" is for Vampire,
Kill Vlad for me!

"w" is the worm,
Some eat you alive,

"W" is for wraith,
On whose corpses we thrive,

"x" is the grid bug,
Who likes straight halls,

"X" is the xorn,
He walks through walls,

"y" is the yellow light,
They leave you blind,

"Y" are the apes,
Be careful what kind!

"z" is the zruty,
Are you sure those are real?

"Z" is for zombie,
The corpse is no deal.

" ' " are the golems,
Paper they provide,

" " is for ghosts,
Who feel empty inside,

"&" are the demons,
Got Excalibur? Fight all.

":" is the lizard,
The corpses are vital,

"@" includes you,
Do NOT genocide,

";" are sea monsters,
One turn 'til you die!

")" are the weapons,
Need I say more?

"'" are the boulders,
No, that's not the floor.

"[" is for armor,
It helps us to live,

"*" are the gems,
To unicorns we can give,

"!" are the potions,
Your life they might save,

"/" are wands,
Test by engrave,

"=" are rings,
Test these in the sink,

"+" are spellbooks,
Before you read, think.

"%" is for food,
Look 'ere you eat,

"$" is your money,
To pay the shopkeep,

"(" is for tools,
Many an odd thing,

"#" is the sink,
Did you find a ring?
