Re: [3.5/PF] GitP Regulars as Artifacts
The Word Unbound
Major Artifact (Jormengand)
Unique among all other artifacts in existence, this artifact does not actually possess a physical form. Rather, it is an artifact created by knowledge, and idea given a pseudo-form by the very idea of Truespeech. It is passed on from one owner to another merely by transfer of knowledge, meaning that any who possess this knowledge, by extension, possess this artifact. However, the universe defies the very existence of such knowledge, knowledge never meant for mortal or immortal minds. As such, accidents and misfortune plague the ones with this knowledge for as long as multiple beings possess it - however, no matter what, this knowledge shall always exist in some form or another.
The Word Unbound can normally only be transferred to a willing mortal recipient by a willing possesser of the knowledge. Transferring the knowledge takes one week, and both participants must sacrifice an amount of XP equal to the ECL of the higher-leveled of the two characters times 200. However, this is a single cost, and they may choose to split the cost however they like - for instance, if it would cost 3000 XP, they may each pay 1500 XP, or one may pay 2000 XP while the other pays 1000.
Upon the completion of this transfer, the recipient gains the mark of The Word Unbound - mysterious symbols, a written representation of Truespeech, appear somewhere on their body. This may be as small as one of their pupils "transforming" into a symbol, or as large as the writing covering their entire bodies, varying from person to person. These symbls cannot be disguised by any magical means - even changing shape simply causes the symbols to transfer to their new form. However, more mundane methods of covering these symbols work normally.
The Word Unbound gives the user many benefits relating to Truespeech. First and foremost is the innate ability to easily decipher a being's Truename. Upon the first meeting with a creature (after receiving The Word Unbound), the character may attempt a Truespeak check against a DC equal to using an utterance on that creature with their personal Truename. If this check succeeds, the character automatically deciphers the creature's Truename, and may now use it in any future utterances or spells they may make against the creature.
In addition, the character gains one additional utterance known of any and all levels and lexicons they had access to. If they did not previously have any utterances known, they instead gain access to a single utterance from the Lexicon of the Evolving Mind. They also gain Truespeak and all Knowledge skills as class skills, if they did not already possess them, and they gain a perfection bonus to these checks equal to twice their Hit Dice. Their Intelligence score also permenantly increases by 2, as their mind sharpens from the knowledge they have received.
Once per week, the character may also use Unname as a SLA, with a caster level equal to their Hit Dice, against any creature they already know the personal Truename of. They may also choose to forego their use of this SLA for one year to use Unname as a Supernatural ability with no save allowed (though they must still make a successful Truespeak check in both cases).
Finally, the character may attempt a Truespeak check against any creature with an Int score of 2 or less no more then once per day. This functions as if using a personal Truename in an utterance against them. If the check succeeds, the creature is treated as if affected by an Awaken spell, gaining a new Int score equal to 3d6, an additional 1d3 Cha (assuming a previously existing Cha score - if the creture lacked a Wis or Cha score, they gain a new one, similar to their new Int score), and +2 HD. Animals affected by this become Magical Beasts (Augmented Animal), while other creature's types remain unchanged. In effect, you are giving these creatures a Truename of their own, and all the benefits (and downsides) that come with it.
However, The Word Unbound's knowledge and power do not come without risks. Should any other beings live with this knowledge and power, misfortune and ruin follow all who possess this knowledge like a plague. Any randomly determined rolls along the lines of random encounters, likelihood of disease, and so on all have their chance to affect these characters doubled. In addition, their maximum age is halved - immortal, undying beings simply cannot learn the knowledge of The Word Unbound. This is the universe trying to stop such widespread use of such knowledge. If only one being exist with this knowledge, though, these effects do not apply to them, with the exception of immortality - should this being ever become immortal, they lose this knowledge.
The Word Unbound cannot be carried over into the afterlife. However, it must remain in the world. Should there only be one being in existence with this knowledge, and they die or are slain, or they somehow become immortal, The Word Unbound manifests itself in the nearest mortal creature with Int 3 or higher capable of using language. However, while they can pass on this knowledge, they cannot use it themselves unless they undergo a week-long ritual and sacrifice the XP cost detailed above.Last edited by Draconium; 2016-04-18 at 01:37 PM.

Re: [3.5/PF] GitP Regulars as Artifacts
You know what I have to do know?
The Ages Torn
Type: Major
Body Slot: None
Caster Level: 100,000,000,000th
Aura: Overwhelming Abjuration and Conjuration and Divination and Enchantment and Evocation and Illusion and Transmutation (Actually Universal)
Weight: -
The Ages Torn appear just like The Word Unbound, and are even transferred in the same way. However, they bring a terrible curse on the user.
Commander Kayros, the Lord of Words (True Neutral Illumian Sorcerer 30/Worldspeaker 30, Divine Rank 10, Grants Creation/Rune/Time domains) attempts to slay the user. Kayros usually uses its Gate of a Million Worlds ability to summon an army to fight for it, after time stopping to give itself longer to do so.
The main reason Kayros cares, though, is that the creature with the knowledge of the Ages Torn knows Kayros' personal true name, which is otherwise impossible to find. So there's that. Have fun fighting a deity.

Spoiler: I don't think there is.
I think Topp is in the right here. Both times.
