Custom map maker?

I ran a search and came up blank, so I'm hoping y'all can help.

I'm looking for a good custom map maker. Ideally, something free online that I can just make a quick top-down map, save a JPG, and forget it.

It doesn't need to be complex. Just "mountains here, ocean there, fields in between".

If you mean, like, a big topographical map, I don't know if this will help much---but Pyromancers has a map designer that's quite nice for distinct locations.

Thank you all for your input! I tried those, but they didn't quite have what I was looking for.

I did find inkarnate, which is quite good I think. If anyone else is looking for a map maker, I'd recommend it.

If you only need basic topographical features, go with Hexographer, its free version will do whatever you need it to.
