Im sorry to tell you, but peacehammer, your infringing copywrite. If you take your avatar that is copywrite of the giant and change it, that results in an infraction. (Same for all the rest of you). If you continue playing, i suggest you draw it all by yourself or possibaly face a ban.

I dont know, i couldnt draw when i first joined this forum. I now make a webcomic. Also im happy with people stealing my stuff for there own, but i can see why that would be a problem. We need a vote.

There is an Internet copywrite thing (I forget where) which says that you can use other people's copywritten material as long as you don't profit from it.

The Giant will be profiting from our use of this forum, and the attendant sale of his materials that active people bring though an interesting place to visit.

Ok, having spent the time since my previous post looking up various bits of copywrite law, I have to say this:

You are technically right.


If two legal academics were debating the issue, I would lose. However, this is not a case that would ever go to court, nor would I be penalised in any way other than having to take it down if asked, unless it could be construed as fair use.

The fact that I am hosting these images on my own site (Because at this stage I don't fancy signing up to photbucket or other), is an issue, but that is the location, not the place displayed.


Reading through the Giant's legal statement, he states that he will take down bits of OOTS art on other people's site. Not this one. Use of avatar is mentioned, but only as an avatar for the person.

If OOTS art is not allowed, you may as well cut out the whole 'arts and crafts section' of this board.


Well, onasuma, I hope you are happy. You may be in a legally indefensible position, but you have really taken the shine off this game for me.

Yes, but their are international copyright laws. You can't just copy work from others, even if you put in on the internet.

But even so, I do not think any of the users might protest.

I grant anyone here the permission to edit the drawings I make and post in this thread only to post them also in this thread.

Magioth, what stuff do you mean? Copyright? It is imporant to care about it, when you make a drawing it really feels as yours and you have a artistic psychological connection with it. You have tried to make it good and you can feel kinda bad when someone just copies it and uses it in his own drawing. So it is indeed important to at least talk about how you want other people to use your art.

Anyway, mods and the giant are very clear, you are not to use the giants work for your own deads. Also all avatars on this site are copywrited, and may not be altered except by the giant himself.
