Silly Plots 2: Electric Boogaloo

[Recaiden]

It's kicked! Well, kneed. In fact, it's scrambling away from Clara so as to turn tail and run back into the grasses.

Omiko fires a parting shot at it, not really bothering to aim well.

[Deathkeeper]

Desert Island

Clara curls up, clutching her torn arm. That adrenaline didn't last long.
"Omiko...please tell me you have something for bleeding injuries." she moans.
She leaves her thoughts of "if I contract a horrible disease, magical or otherwise, from that thing, it's your fault" to herself.

[Recaiden]

Good, because that would be most unfair.

It would be the shark-lion's fault.

"Yeah, I do. It's called a bandage."
Omiko strolls over and takes a look.
"Just kidding. Put it here, and I'll heal you."
She holds out both her normal hands, palms up.

[Deathkeeper]

Desert Island

Clara holds out the injured arm a bit embarrassed.
"Well, now I've got water-logged shoes and a shirt covered in blood. I'm going to need a new outfit after this." she says, trying to be funny.

[Recaiden]

Omiko laughs, though perhaps the joke wasn't taken quite right.
"Nothing a wash won't fix. Though you could always go without them."

Chitinous tendrils extend up from Omiko's hands, and wave through Clara's arm as if it weren't there, but once they pass and retract, the shark bites should be gone and healed, good as new. It probably looks pretty weird, though.

Desert Island

"I couldn't go without clothes unless I was as fuzzy as you 'cause I'd get cold. And I probably wouldn't even then because that would be weird. I could lose the shoes, but then I'd get cut if I stepped on the wrong thing. You ever cut those paws on the ground?" she asks, looking at the pirate's feet and pointedly ignoring the strangeness she just witnessed.

[Recaiden]

"This is a summery desert island." Omiko observes dryly. Any further suggestions go without saying.

She kicks out a foot and looks down at it.
"Not in years. I'm pretty tough."

[Deathkeeper]

Desert Island

"Yeah but the wind at night will still be cold. Anyway, let's keep looking. Maybe we'll find something cool and magic. Or at least something neat that isn't trying to kill me." she grumbles.

[Recaiden]

That elicits a smirk, and Omiko goes back to combing the beach.
"You know, we're cool and magic."
Although I'm not really sure you can declare yourself cool.

Clara might spot a tiny hourglass, perhaps by the difference between the sand inside and the sand outside, or by its gold-plated chain.
There's a patch of leaves scattered on the beach that don't seem to have come from any native plant. Withered blue, with many fronds.
Here's a broken bottle of dark brown glass.
There's a neat shell that-oh, no, it's scuttling away. A hermit crab.

Desert Island

Clara looks down and picks up the hourglass.
"This looks like it might be valuable. Have you found any footprints that aren't hours, Omiko? We should probably be looking for the people who wrote that note. Maybe they can tell you which way your ship went." Clara calls, as she turns over the strange leaves with the tip of her rapier.

[Recaiden]

Omiko's tail flicks in the direction of the hourglass.
"It's cute. The metal isn't worth much, but it might be, overall."
Her mechanical arms shrug.
"No footprints, so far. They look like they'd wash away in the tide pretty quickly."

The leaves don't respond.

[Deathkeeper]

Desert Island

Clara slips the glass into her pocket.
"Well, how about we check inland, then? We should see if we can find whoever left that message. If they're not here we should just go back to searching the islands for your ship, since it isn't here." Clara suggests, walking carefully towards the grassline, wary of more critters.

[Recaiden]

A sweep of the islands reveals nothing and no one. Just a few small critters with no desire to eat Clara.
Back on the shore, Omiko gathers up wooden fragments and makes a suggestion.
"You know, if we used this scrap in addition to you staying in the circle, I bet we could make a bigger, faster vessel. Hopefully do some catching up and get this over with sooner."

[Deathkeeper]

Desert Island

Clara folds her arms and glares her mightiest glare at Omiko.
"Uh, no. How about you use those scraps and just do the spell the way it's supposed to work and we can all keep out respective number of limbs, thanks." she proposes angrily.

[Recaiden]

Omiko rolls her eye.
"Consistent limb number is way overrated. Trust me."
But she doesn't insist, and just tosses the wood into the water and starts casting the transfiguration spell.

[Deathkeeper]

Desert Island

"You're the one with the no-transformation 'thing.' You seem consistent to me." Clara grumbles, wading into the water a little but not getting anywhere near the circle.

[Recaiden]

After a little while, a little catboat takes shape, and Omiko hops in, giving it a push away from shore as she does.

"That's what qualifies me to tell you that it's really inconvenient."

[Deathkeeper]

Desert Island

Clara grumbles a bit at that, but will otherwise happily pull herself into the craft and let Omiko do her thing to get them where they need to go.

[Recaiden]

Let? This is that opportunity to learn and practice sailing. Omiko will be making her do a lot of the work, while figuratively drowning her in nautical terminology.
But there'll be time in there for conversation, as well.
"What are you, exactly? I noticed some odd themes expressing themselves in the earlier sailboat."
Obviously it doesn't compare to Omiko's own strangeness. But it's different strangeness.

[Deathkeeper]

Sailing

Clara takes a break from hauling ropes to answer.
"What, like how it was red? That's probably from Mom. Her red hair was pretty famous back in her hometown, I hear. Dad was a minotaur from Krynn. He was human at the time they, you know. I don't know if she ever knew. Either way, he had some magic put on me so he could have a kid and I'd be a normal human, but for some reason he bailed before I was ever born. As for what exactly I've never really had a DNA test but physically, well, I am what I look like." she says, raising her hand to show herself off.

[Recaiden]

"That and the figurehead."
Here Omiko makes a show of looking at Clara and seeing what she looks like anew.
"I see~. Shame about your father."

[Deathkeeper]

Sailing

"The figurehead...? Oh, of course. Of freaking course. But no. It's fine, we're never doing that again.
It's fine Omiko." she says with a sigh.
"I had it better than plenty of kids, and at least I had the charms. Can you even imagine me all big red and furry? It's not the same as Showdown. It's not really me when it's a role." she explains.

[Recaiden]

"Don't say 'never'. The world is vaster than you can imagine, and I can imagine at least three situations today that would call for you to be a ship."
Another roll of the eye, coinciding with a sharp turn through the wind.
"Having a coat of fur. Just imagine."
That much sarcasm could flood and sink a smaller boat.

[Deathkeeper]

Sailing

"Oh, you know what I meant. It isn't me. Just because it would solve the shoe problem doesn't mean it would feel right. No matter what genetics say."
She doesn't comment on the first part. She doesn't want to even dignify that.

[Recaiden]

"Well obviously, genetics are whatever. But you said it yourself, it's just a feeling. Like an ugly sweater. It doesn't really matter. Really is all in the head."
And now they swing the other way, slow sailing progress.

[Deathkeeper]

Sailing

"Right. Like a sweater you don't ever want to try on." she says, adding a groan at the wind.
"This is gonna take a while. And no, we wouldn't be going any faster if it were me. One sail can't make this any better. You got anything to do?" she asks.

[Recaiden]

"Wanting a sweater is also all in your head."
Omiko shakes her head 'no'. Boats are what they are.
"I think I've been over this. Besides, what's the hurry?"

[Deathkeeper]

Sailing

Clara shakes her head.
"No I mean do you have anything to pass the time? Fun stories, fun magic to play with, anything? I didn't exactly bring a book."

[Recaiden]

"Oh, you poor lonely thing."
Omiko sounds more or less sincere.
"I've been talking to my familiar, but of course I know stories. You should know though that magic is not a toy."
Stern nautical disapproval.
"Probably more than you know, now. What do you want to hear?"

[Deathkeeper]

Sailing

"I dunno, got any stories about you? Got all those cyber implants, must be something. Or about your family. I've never seen a cat person like you." she asks.
