Silly Plots 2: Electric Boogaloo

[Recaiden]

Second Blade shakes her head.
"No, as long as you tie it with more than one thread, it makes it less likely here. And if you tie them into a loop it's nearly impossible. Although it could do what you said if you entangled them wrong."
"Anyway, I'm Indeible Traumatic Memory, second princess of-

"No you're not, go back to your own timeline!"
The original shakes a back leg at the time-clone in a very human 'shooing-away-a-bug' motion.

"The important part is what happens in that future after the war, look."
She brings up her own display of futures; is it subtly different?

Sarina looks at the weave, and promptly makes a very important conclusion.
And so she declares: "I am not experienced enough to know what I'm looking at."

[Recaiden]

The second Blade disappears.

The original folds up the space-time continuum. "Well. Okay then. I'll be more careful with it, after that. Usually they aren't so pushy; she's from the very edge of the garden."
"Umm. Why are you here at all? I don't believe I ever determined that."

Sarina shrugs.
"It was something Alexis wanted to see, is all. You'd have to ask her why she was so interested."
Sarina had received an explanation, but she didn't really get why it was a big deal.

[Recaiden]

"I mean, why are you with her at all? Is it that important to your work with the town?"
Blade inquires. Alexis is what requires explanation, more than this specific place.

"Uh, we're a couple, and she was told to take a vacation. " Sarina wants to say more, but she decides to leave it at that. She doesn't want to imply something to her elder princess, even if she's surprised that Blades wasn't informed about her relationship with the High Priestess.

[Recaiden]

Oh, the town leader sent the gorgon here. Or at least sent her away. That explains some of it, and the spider nods. But there is at least one thing left.
"A couple of what?" Blades responds, apparently completely baffled.

Sarina's eyes widen for a second. Does she really not know that expression?
"It means we're dating." Sarina says flatly. She really hopes Blades at least knows what that is.

[Recaiden]

Blades thinks about this.
"Of course. Your courtship methods would seem unfamiliar to me."
"..."
"Are there not several obstacles because of, eh, what you each are?"
She cannot blush to show embarrassment, but Sarina can probably recognize it in her movements.

Sarina raises an eyebrow. "Uh, not really? It's not like we're going to have kids or anything." is her only response. She's too young, and it would be way too horrifying anyway. Alexis can do that if she ever really feels the need. Though if Alexis wanted it she could probably ask Message to let her spend another day as a drider. She seemed to react to it strangely.

[Recaiden]

Well. It's unthinkable, to Blades anyway, that Sarina would stay in this couple while planning to have kids in some other situation later on. So it must be that Sarina is never going to have children. So it must be that there is some tragic history with the two of them. She shouldn't pry.
"That's very brave of you. I'd better be going - and you probably should to. I have a bad feeling about this place."
Unless Sarina interrupts, the other princess re-threads her position and disappears off to her home forest.

Satisfied, Sarina goes back to Alexis, stopping for a moment to retrieve her saddle.
"That was the eldest of the Queen's princesses. She said we should get out of here. I'm not sure she realized we'd already experienced the bad mojo. Are you doing ok enough to get going, or do you want to stay a while longer?" Sarina offers, though she would really like to just get going immediately.

[Recaiden]

Alexis looks back to Sarina with a start.
"I think we can go. There's nothing more that I really need to do here, exactly." But there's a sense that she is interrupting something.

"She came all the way over just to warn us about that? I guess you were is quite a hurry to get out of my shape, weren't you?" she asks as she gets back in the saddle, a note of teasing in her voice.

There's something oddly comforting about the feeling of Alexis on Sarina's abdomen. It might be telling of something, but she doesn't know what.
"No, it was important spider business, but I can't tell if I was helpful or not.
And I admit I did kind of forget how to use two legs. You seemed to like being me, though." she says, long ears flicking.

[Recaiden]

The air gets a full, charged feeling, like there's about to be a sudden outbreak of lightning from the clear blue skies.

Perhaps it means that she's found her true calling as a cross-country transport. Or that she likes being around Alexis.
The priestess smirks and leans it - just because she wouldn't want to fall, surely.
"It was...very freeing. I didn't have a worry left in the world, it felt like. Until I fell down the hill, I guess."

"That's...does your shape make you worry? You've never mentioned it before. Oh, I almost forgot." Sarina reaches down to the edge of the crater and retrieves Alexis' magic shoes.
"Are these special? They feel tinged with some enchantment." she asks.

[Recaiden]

"Of course. There wasn't any point in mentioning things that couldn't be helped." Alexis's hair shifts unhappily for a moment before she spots the sandals and reaches out to take them.
"Oh, yes! They help me keep my balance. Thanks; wouldn't want to forget them."

Lightning flashes down to strike the central rise of the crater, sending a deafening crash of thunder rolling over them.
Sarina likely feels quite clearly the sense of someone watching her.

"Why do you need magical help keeping your balance?" Sarina asks, but then lightning strikes.
"We should go." mutters the drider, who tries to do so presently.

[Recaiden]

"Because I would fall down otherwise? I-"

The lightning continues striking, a ribbon of light connecting the pit to the sky, shaking the air. Alexis, not caring to shout, stops talking, shuts her main eyes, and lets the drider get them out of here.

Surely this is just odd weather and they will be fine.

This seems very bad, so Sarina does her best to sprint away from this whole scene as fast as possible, presence or not. She's not about to take any more risks in this wacky crater!

[Recaiden]

Something about this whole scene is not content to be sprinted away from.
The lightning dances out from the crater, flashing on both sides of Sarina and meeting in front. Now, she does have a head start, and it's only moving about twenty-thousand-times faster than her so...it's still there basically instantaneously, electric discharge giving way to something, someone.

Its color is the brass of a thousand trumpets, its shape is seven wings and seven-times-seven eyes, its purpose is punishment. The angel draws itself up, shaking off the last few sparks of its arrival in the mortal world, and regards its targets. The two tourists, of course.

Well, that's unfortunate.
"Uh, hi?" squeaks the drider, giving the angel a neat little curtsy while she desperately waits for the divine-versed one of the two to keep them from getting killed.

[Recaiden]

Alexis hops down from her spider-riding seat, snakes all raised and swaying.

It speaks to them not in sound but in ideas.

KNOW that you are friends of enemies of righteousness.
KNOW that you have defied the will of those on high.
KNOW that you have erred greatly in returning to this place of penance.

"If you are too blind to see peoples' potential, that is not our business. Go away."

Sarina HRMMPH's greatly, trying to work up her courage.
"We've never been here before, so we aren't returning at all. And we have no idea who these enemies of yours are, let alone will. So yeah, go away." she declares of the angel.

[Recaiden]

"No, we do know that, didn't you listen to the explanation of our trip?"
Alexis would be a little put out at Sarina not paying sufficient attention. If they weren't otherwise occupied.

The angels wings are suddenly in a different configuration, points together, gathering a charge. There is only a moment of warning before the lightning strikes at our two heroes.

Sarina gives Alexis a glance. She's messing up her attempts at being misleading!

She's not good enough to put up shields at the speed of lightning. If they are to be saved, Alexis will have to be the ones to do it.

[Recaiden]

Alexis is not good at deception! If she were, surely something in her life would have gone differently and she wouldn't be here.

She steps out in front of Sarina, hand raised. The lightning will reach out, nearly strike her, and turn away. This angel is angry because they had the gall to take in an outcast and care for them? Message's people look out for each other, that's what they do more than anything else. She'll keep Sarina safe, and perhaps the reverse. Certainly Message will keep her well. The thought that her aura might fail to repel the attack does not ever cross her mind. And so, it does not happen.
The lightning fizzles out.

Now, as it happens that used up quite a lot of energy and she can't just keep doing it forever. Alexis, because of her particular personality, if she knew how her spells worked they probably wouldn't. But while she thinks she's invincible, that's not far from the truth.

"Oh. That was- I'm sorry."

Sarina immediately begins weaving a shield against electricity for the two.
"Do you have a way out of this? Should I blast him?" she whispers to Alexis, gathering her power in her threads.

[Recaiden]

Alexis shakes her head, although a couple of the snakes are nodding.
"He's just doing his job. Only blast if you have to. I'll think of- something."

KNOW that your black magic will not protect you for long.

It tests Sarina's shield with another lightningbolt, weaker than before, barely trying.

Sarina's shield isn't stopped by the little bolt. It's a fairly decent shield, especially if she's only focusing on maintaining it.
"Well, uh, you do your thing." she says to Alexis, hoping she can think of something a little faster.
