    After waiting for what seems like an eternity (but in reality s no more than an hour or so), the quartet of gnolls makes their rounds. You hide, perched on the ridge, some 20 feet above the gnolls. One of them hears a small stone knocked down the slope from slight movement of one of you. he chucks his spear toward where he thought you were, but aims about 5 feet north of you. None of the other gnolls notice you, but that will surely draw their attention.

    What will you do?

    You guys have a surprise round. Chances are that will be enough to deal with them, (as these guys are your garden variety, non-class level-having gnolls) but you also won initiative, so I'm not holding out hope for these guys' well-being. You can slide down the ravine, but it'll take a move action and a DC 12 Acrobatics check to avoid fall damage.

    Feeling much lighter in his borrowed armor, Goma rushes down toward the gnolls. Positioning himself near two gnolls he takes aim and swings with his klar.

    Making the assumption that Dariush had his crossbow drawn and loaded before they showed up.


    Taking his shot at a still-living gnoll, Dariush abandons the crossbow in the sand and joins the others in their rush downwards. Rather than slide down, he jumps high into the air. At the apex, a bolt of lightning lashes outwards from his hand and anchors itself in the middle of the gnolls. With it Dariush pulls himself forward and through them, spinning as he does to clip one of them with his dagger of flame. He lands about 10ft behind them, ready to fight.

    Goma is able to smash the nearest gnoll, his spear pitiful defense against Goma's klar. Rowan's mystical artillery strikes hit two gnolls, but only one of them drops. While Daruish's crossbow bolt fails to land, his mystical tether pulling him past the fourth gnoll and slashing his chest open with mystical force. Akaash tries to slam the remaining gnoll, and despite reeling from Rowan's blast, it just manages to deflect Akaash's wind blast with his shield. The gnoll turns to run back to the city yelling as he does so.

    Well, I think that kills your attempt to be all stealthy.

Hopefully, they are far enough from the others that this one yell wouldn't give the game away, but that only works if they can silent that patrol member now!

    Hopefully no one heard the Gnoll yet? Depending on how far away we are from other Gnolls it's possible. +1 to perception DC per 10 ft. +5 if the listener is distracted doing other things (like trying to fall asleep on duty? ). But yeah that Gnoll needs to shut up now.

    "On my way." Rowan says as he cautiously makes his way down to the road. Would be an awful shame to trip and break his neck after all this trouble (taking 10 for 13 vs DC 12). "As for teleporting over the wall, my ability to do so will be determined by it's height, and even then it may take half a minute to get everyone over, and there is no guarantee I will be able to get us back over if it is too high. Keep that in mind for any escape needs."

    With that said, Rowan follows the others to the (hopefully) unsuspecting enemy base.

    You'd have to climb out of the ravine to get up there, you don't really have a line of sight to the ground. The path leads along an east-west path (up/down on the map respectively).

    It looks like about 70 ft up on the map from Goma before the slope is gradual enough to walk up. If not then just continue that way until we can get out of the ravine. Kinda hard to tell elevations on the map.

    The slope of the hill does decrease in severity about 70 feet before the path curves around the hill, so you are able to climb up with a minimum of fuss. You find three empty ruins of questionable structural integrity; anything of worth from it long since ransacked. From this vantage point, you can see a building with multiple domes about 120 feet away, as well as a very large domed structure some 300 feet away. There are other ruined buildings in town, but that's all that stick out at the moment.

    As you move quickly you reach the large multi-domed building. As you reach the door, you see a strange rune on the door. It's red and seems to pulsate as you look at it.

    This looks like an arcane lock, a ritual to keep this sealed away, but there's something not quite right about it.

    It's what's known as an interdict seal. It's keyed to a specific talisman that acts as a key, It's technically possible to take this ward apart to get inside the building, It'd be a tedious process and best not done while the possibility of being attacked is still around.
