Joas successfully Dimension Doors himself and ZrabHas out of the beast’s claws. He hides behind his horse, while the Githzerai moves and makes a leaping attack at the creature.

ZrabHas ends up next to Joas, so she has to move up to make her leaping attack. This triggers an AOO. I’m going to assume (for the sake of avoiding madness) that AOOs don’t trigger snatch/improved grab/etc.

ZrabHas tosses a javelin that hits, and Grassis also tags the creature with another blast of energy. It continues to fly away, slowly gaining altitude.

The group watches the bird as it flies out of sight; RexThaun reappears and falls to the ground with a painful *thump* (1d6)[2]

Rex was glaring at several wolves that had appeared below him, they prowled below him, as if expecting him to fall any moment, and why wouldn't he, things in the air always dropped.

Then he fell, with a blink of his eye, things appeared, as how he had almost forgot, it had only been half a minute or so, but the scene came roiling back to him just as the hard earth smacked into him as he fell.

Getting up, finally able to move by his own two feet, he glared at the large bird flying away, then, he turned to Joas, glaring at him. "Next time you do that, let me know what in the Nine it does!"

He then stomps off to collect Richard and any gear that fell out during the scuffle, muttering about psions and their misuse of their powers.

Joas smiles at Rex. "There was not much time, Rex, but you´re welcome. I merely collapsed a minor strain of time to save you from the claws of that beast." He dusts off his equipment and inspects his wounds. "We should take some time to recover. Heal our wounds. Could you keep an eye out while we get our bearings back, Grassis?"

ZrabHas curses and shakes her fist at the bird monster, then shrinks back to her normal size and starts moaning in pain.

Rex, would you be so kind as to turn on that nice aura that keeps me from bleeding out? That rook hurt me badly. I didn't know you got things like that in this plane. At least, not naturally, in the middle of no where.

"... Merely collapsed a minor strain of time." Grassis repeats. "That was ... impressive." he says finally. "Rex you have no appreciation for art."


Grassis turned invisible and shifted his focus to the horizon, to make sure the bird didn't return - or anything else.


"ZrabHas did you want to use your belt to help heal up or should I break out the wand ?" Grassis asks

After conducting the utterly boring task of stopping the bleeding, the group continues on in their ever-dirtier, ever-more raggedy and bloodstained clothes and armor. As the horses begin to tire, Joas spends ten minutes sitting and staring at nothing before opening a door in mid-air and stepping through it.

The group rests with no incident.

ZrabHas takes a well-needed rest and thinks no more about why being attacked by monsters trying to horribly eat her was less disquieting than her normal daily life.

Joas is visibly happy that the day came to an ending without further troubles. While he is usually very composed and balanced, you notice that be becomes edgy when he has used a lot of his power reserve. When the group gets to settle in for the night, he turns towards Rex: "Just to get my information correct, Rex...I deduced that it was a good thing to temporally extract you from the current flow of events. Tho...I imagine that must have been an unsettling experience. Anyway, from your words after the fact I deduce you prefer that next time I do not intervene. Is that correct? Because I will gladly abstain from intervening in the future if that is your wish. In that case I apologize for drawing the wrong conclusions." He shrugs while he polishes his psicrystal: "Please recognize I chose to do so because I regard you a friend."

Rex scowled as they made their war further, the scene had annoyed him, he had been of little use. But it was a great opportunity for his companions so shine, and he was thankful they were up to the task.

Each new encounter shone a light upon them, what to improve, and what already works.

He was glad things worked out.

He regard Joas as he once again, created some kind of tear in the fabric of space, and they relaxed 'inside' it. IT didn't make sense to him, but, not much did. He accepted them for what they are.

He nodded as Joas spoke, he had calmed down, and had a toothy grin out. "No Joas, you did as you thought was correct, I was merely surprised by the affect. I think I may have been that birdies food if you hadn't." he said, frowning at the thought.

Grassis wakes in the morning with a start. He looks around with some concern and a little paranoia. He catches his breath and begins packing up his gear to move out.

"I think we may have attracted attention by injuring the monstrous bird. A powerful being invaded my dreams last night - well no - it was more than a dream. It noticed the injured Roc and magically searched for us. It wants us to come visit his town and promised us power and said we would fail our quest if we didn't make the journey. "

Joas nods. "The way I see it, if there is a benevolent entity or person seeking to aid us in our endeavors, it would seek other means of contact than birds of prey and threatening dreams." He ponders a bit more. "If there is a person that sends predators our way and tries to force us to him by threatening the success of our quest, it must be someone we want to avoid."

"Or it is an idiot..." he adds after a short silence. "In which case we want to avoid him or her."

"The dream seemed to imply 'it' didn't send the giant bird, just that he noticed it was badly injured and was curious how it happened. " Grassis shrugged. He found it difficult to explain the dream. He waited for others to chime in as he prepared the horses for travel.

"Oh...right. Well, anyway. He´ll contact us again if it is urgent."

You ride for a couple of hours, continuing to talk. The wind is from the north today, but appears to be blowing some weather in – dark clouds are on the horizon. You hear a deep rumbling and thudding that seems to vibrate the ground under you. Joas thinks it’s coming from behind, and sounds like some large animals.

"Well," Joas says while riding, "we should consider a strategy should a bird like that tries to grab us again." He looks over his shoulder. "Or .... a herd of .... bizons? He looks at his companions: "Did you hear that?"

Rex pulls Richard you short, he had been thinking about the undead skull following them.

"What are bizons?", he asks in all seriousness

Don't ask me. About any of this. I wasn't having any dreams, prophetic, communicative, or otherwise. And I hope you know better than to ask me about animals. As a general rule, though, "herds" aren't predatory. But that might just mean they are being manipulated. Animals in this world are foolish and weak-willed.

I am sorry if this sounds arrogant and pedantic to you. Before I realized the importance of serving the Great Leader, I came from a rather different culture than any of you. Back in Limbo, they taught us that stating the obvious ensures everyone is aware of the context you are seeing the problem.
