Seeing several powerful foes coming his way, he pats his mount on the neck: Sorry, friend, get yourself to safety. Then, he focuses on his current position in space and wills himself to a different one.

    Grassis took a quick step to the north and ducked under a blow. He disappears and reappears another 10 feet to the north and then finally disappears altogether.

    Round 5, Part 1

    ZrabHas runs for cover, while Joas teleports to the roof of the inn. RexThaun edges his horse forwards, the dragonborn swinging his sword at the altar before prompting his steed to rear and kick at it with its powerful hooves. That’s enough to kick in an entire side panel, revealing that the altar is essentially a wood box around a large core of onyx that glows with an unholy light; the wood is coated a very thin sheet of rune-etched gold. The northern side panel breaks into pieces, disrupting the glowing runes and the magic contained within. The necropolitans all drop what they are doing and grab their heads as something is wrong…

    The necropolitans are temporarily stunned. The last tendrils of the wizard’s commands leave the skeletons. Lacking any drive of their own, the skeletal creatures all stand still, except for the rhino wearing the collar and carrying a rider.

    The zombies, however, still desire flesh, despite the lack of guidance.

    The zombie rhino, as well as a couple of the other hungry undead, lumber clumsily towards RexThaun and Richard. They are too slow to attack at once, but their fetid presence is threatening. The two zombies next to him do attack, but miss.

    Rex smiles in satisfaction, and that what he had done had, hopefully, saved them. The zombies still clawed at him, and he needed to get out of their reach. He saw what the altar did to them, and intent on finishing the job, he attacked the thing again, spurring Richard on to do the same.

    Grassis moves to heal RexThaun, while the dragonborn and his horse attack the next panel of the altar. RexThaun cracks it, but Richard’s kick is ineffective. Joas hits it with a sonic attack that finishes the job, disrupting the spellwork even further. The necropolitans continue to be affected by the destruction of the place of their unbirth.

    “Argh…stop them!” The monk taps the torc on his arm and moves to punch RexThaun taking a kick from Richard in the process, while the zombie human and zombie rhino also try to kill the dragonborn and his horse. Richard takes a deep wound from the zombie rhino's horn. One of the zombie horses circles the cart to get at him as well.

If we can stop the smart ones for good, the mindless ones should just be a quick clean up. You might have to run away for a few minutes though while we heal up. If you have to break off, meet me back here in 10 minutes. " Grassis says to Rex.

    ZrabHas runs into the hallway behind the inn. Ahead of her (CY89) she spots a partially devoured corpse; a potion of Cure Moderate Wounds is lying nearby, perhaps dropped by the unlucky soul.

    RexThaun and his horse attack the onyx core of the altar; Grassis does the same, turning visible in front of the surprised monk.
    Joas sends several balls of reverberating energy through the air, vibrating bits of flesh and rock where they hit.

    The magically charged onyx is covered with cracks and craters on the north and west sides, and explodes violently, sending shards of onyx gems pelting out at everyone nearby, focused into a cone by the remaining walls of the altar, although those topple afterwards. The necropolitans all clutch their heads and moan due to the psychic feedback.

    Necropolitans are auto-stunned for 1 round. After that, they each get saves with decreasing DCs each round to get over it and go back to normal. Those saves will be rolled in secret, so you won’t know when of your foes will suddenly spring back into action. The desecrate effect has ended, and the necropolitans lose the +2hp/level they gained from being animated under its effects.

    The mindless zombies are unaffected.

    Everyone in the blast cone (everyone facing one of the downed walls for 45’) takes (3d6)[13] slashing damage. Reflex DC 16 half.

    "You may want to withdraw post-haste, I can linger and chip them away. Stay within the sigils of the city and keep moving. Swing back around in 5 to 10 minutes to check on our progress. Heal if you can." Grassis suggests. He had hoped Rex would have taken out the archer and not the monk looking opponent but in the end he was glad to be facing less enemies. The archer looked pretty untouched so that might have been optimistic.

    Joas is running out of power. With the monk dead, things appear to be relatively under control. He decides to tap his cognizance crystal to summon an Astral construct to distract the incoming horde.

    Use my 1PP in the cognizance crystal to summon an AC I, around DO97. Full round action. Plan is to have it distract Z15-Z29 (next round)...the horde coming from that direction. Hit one and start running, see if they follow.

    RexThaun spins Richard around, and the two of them lash out, destroying the undead monk. Grassis blasts the zombie horse, injuring it, and tries to step to the side as he retrieves a wand, but finds his path blocked by the Richard.

    The zombie rhinoceros hits Richard with his horn, but the force of the blow is blocked by RexThaun’s shield in a quick block that saves the horse’s life! The zombie horse nearby tries to clamp down on Grassis’ shoulder. Another zombiefied horse tries to reach around the cart to bite Richard, but misses.

    Richard falls to the ground, slain instantly, but RexThaun lands on his feet.

    Rex see the monk fall and his grin is short lived as the zombies sense fresh meat in himself and Richard, he barley managed to block the gore from the Rhino, and so he smote the Rhino, attempting to stun it again, before he moved into the Temple, hoping to funnel the attacks.

Sit around a warm fire and summoning food all day. Maybe smoke a pipe, oh and grow a beard. Perhaps I should have taken up that offer for immortality." Grassis muses as he rethinks his life choices.

    He ducks into the church and quickly closes the door. Grassis looks around a second before calming settling his eyes on Rex.

    "You are probably wondering why I called this meeting..." he casually remarks, trying to hide his fear.

    RexThaun attacks the zombie rhinoceros, then steers Richard through the tall door to the temple. Several of the zombie horses bite at them as they move past, one of them drawing blood.

    Rhino is hit for 16.

    Lit by several magical lights, the inside of the temple is a mess. The pews and other furniture has been shoved and piled carelessly off to one side. The altar is missing, and a hole slants down into the ground under the dais. A skeleton slowly but tirelessly pushes a half-full wheelbarrow of rock fragments up out of the hole, and dumps its contents onto a pile in the corner. You hear the slow clanking of a couple of picks and shovels from the hole. The skeletons ignore you.

    The two doors flanking the dais probably lead to some sort of living quarters or storage area. One is standing open, and the other has been smashed to pieces. There are no apparent threats or activity aside from the skeletal diggers.


    ZrabHas turns and attacks the lone zombie close to her, her kukri flashing with fire. It's still standing, but just barely.

    I thought she had the greataxe, but it’s not on the sheet.
    Switching to Punishing Stance for damage. Zombies unlikely to hit, but she wants to OHK them if possible.
    Using kukri for slash damage, plus Burning Brand, which is a readied swordsage maneuver if I’m reading things correctly.

    Attack (1d20+12)[25] hit for 16 total damage
    Damage (1d4+1)[4] plus (1d6)[3] plus (1d6+3)[9] fire
    Fiery riposte ready if the zombie somehow hits her.


    A small astral construct forms from the ether, punches one of the zombies, and then retreats to the east. Its fist does minor damage, and the two closest zombies flail ineffectually at it.
