Grassis


Grassis follow ups behind the construct as best he can. He finds his way and vision blocked but was thankful the mad sheep was there to grab any unwanted attention. He imagined it wouldn't be around much longer so he prepared himself in case he needed to fight or run.

Grassis will keep moving forward unless a side passage opens up or the tunnel widens or the sheep vanishes/dies.

Round 9, Part 1

The astral construct advances into the cave, not having any targets. The cave widens, and Grassis emerges behind it into a larger room. Only a bit of light comes in from the outside, as the cave mouth faces north, but Grassis also has darkvision, and can thus see. A very realistic statue of a human is to his left (east), and a halfling is ahead and to his right. The construct stands in the middle of the room. A passage leads off to the east, and another to the right.

Rex takes no action.


Round 9, Part 2

The construct perceives something entering the range of its darkvision in the western tunnel, and Grassis hears footfalls on the stone floor.

The Astral Construct vanishes as the psionic energies sustaining it run dry.

Joas turns to Rex. "How far a head start for him?" He activates his Touchsight and goes to the cave entrance. He looks down the passage and his mental capacities let him see into the darkness. "I can see him. Looks like he is in a opened area and peering off to the left and right."

Rex frowns, "None? He usually moves around as needed" he replies and frowns ever further as Joas moves into the cave...He hurries to keep up, trying to get in front of his friend, lest the smart one in the group gets turned to stone.

Grassis moves south, still invisible. The passage to his west has another one of the big lizards shuffling down it. The passage to the east appears to dead-end into a split.

The creature advances. It’s just barely over 30’ away from Grassis, but it doesn’t seem to realize he’s there at all.

Grassis pauses looking down the passage with the giant lizard. He points with one finger in its general direction. Grassis slowly moves further into the camber he was in. He averts his eyes away from the critter lest he joins the human and halfling 'statues'.

Rex sighs, inwardly, but he feared that it would do no good. Evenstill, he tried.

Joas lets Rex go by. He takes one more scan outside to ensure nothing was coming up from behind then follows Rex in. Seeing Grassis point off to the right, he summons another large monstrous-looking sheep at the mouth of that tunnel with orders to kill what is down that way.

Grassis moves south, just barely out of the danger zone, and Rex clanks into the big room. Joas summons another construct to attack the lizard. It does so, slamming down with a pair of ectoplasmic pseudo-hooves and knocking it to the ground.

The outcome is not really in doubt, as the creature attempts to stand, and, whether successful or not, gets beaten down quite swiftly.

Frowning, Rex moves towards the statue. perhaps we can take these out, and save them?

He moves closer, and examines the human statue. "Grassis, make sure nothing creeps up me while I drag these outside."

"We have the construct for a limited time. We should likely push on with our mission?" Grassis asks as Rex starts wrestling a statue.

[Cavir]

"I'll have it keep going and see if it stirs up trouble." Joas moves to the center of the room so he can see down the western passage. The construct pulls the dead lizard out and moves it just out of the way with the head facing the wall. It then squeezes down the corridor to the first intersection with directions to point if it sees something to attack.

[BelGareth]

"And what is our mission? It is for the Greater Good of one true Leader. Perhaps these people can be returned from stone, and help us in return? Didn't that lady say something about a cure?"

[Ragnarok'n'Roll]

Grassis

"Absolutely. Praise be His name!" Grassis nods as he keeps watch. "My only concern was maybe waiting a few minutes and getting the most out of the spell. We definitely should help these unfortunate souls, it was just the timing I was worried about. I'm not sure any of my magic can restore them however."

[BelGareth]

Rex stops pulling on the statue. Saddened, and if there was light, slightly embarrsed. He nods.

"You have a good point, lets go."

And he follows the construct

The construct moves through the tunnel slowly, having to squeeze itself down and cramped in its movements. It finds no opposition, and stops when it reaches an intersecting tunnel, dimly lit by another exit to the north.

Joas has the construct continue on to the next intersection while he uses a charge of his healing belt on himself. "Will we need the construct to help move the statues outside?"

Rex calls back, "How far down this rabbit hole are we willing to go?" continuing to follow the construct.

"I think we were supposed to clear the cave system?" Grassis answers in an uncertain tone.

Grassis will follow Joas. (either stay put and guard him or follow along behind if we move down the hallway)

Grassis will ready an action to shoot any of the lizards/basklisks that come into view.

Rex grunts "Where we? Very well then" he mutters, moving along and heading towards the dark tunnel to the left.

[J-H]

The construct proceeds to the next intersection to the west and stops. It's a T intersection, with sunlight from the north. You don't know what's on the south, as the construct is in the way.

Joas knows his construct has less than half a minute left before it dissipates.

Joas heads down the tunnel to follow the construct and Rex. As he passes each side passage he uses his psionic sight to quickly peer down each one before moving on. He instructs the construct to keep watch where it is and to do a simple jump if it sees anything moving or alive to the left or right (north or south).

Rex follows away from the sunlight, behind the construct.

Grassis

Grassis does his best to keep up with Joas. Watching the rear and ready to blast anything that looks like a giant lizard. He decided he wasn't fond of caves and enclosed spaces.

[J-H]

The group cautiously proceeds down the south tunnel, which opens up into another cavern, one where all of the stalagmites seem to have been destroyed, leaving the floor open and flat. Four centaur statues in relaxed poses occupy a semicircle near the an opening in the southeastern corner of the room. That opening appears to also lead up and to the outside. Perhaps they were caught by surprise while resting?

Doubling back, you go through the first room (the one with the human and the halfling statues), and down the eastern tunnel. A fork branches off to the north a ways. Continuing east, you find a small room with a petrified gnoll in it, and also another branch path that leads outside.

As you head up the fork to the north, you hear movement ahead as the tunnel slopes uphill...

Rex senses the movement ahead and stiffens, hopefully they would notice, he hefts his sword, and readies his shield, instinctively changing his aura to enhance everyones senses.

He moves forward slowly.
