Busy now that the school is back on, but I managed to finish a third Minecraft Megaproject dedicated to Ponies. This one is for Princess Cadance, and is named Basilica Amorosa Sanctae Cadentiae.

Well you already know how much I bowed in awe of this work. It's just WOW.

It's not supposed to have one, as Cadentia is based on a number of churches, not mosques. You're not entirely wrong, however, as there exists a large number of mosques in the "architectural family lineage" of that design. There are many descendants of the original multi-domed masterpiece of the Hagia Sophia, spread across multiple religions. Sancta Cadentia is a representative of the 19~20th century Byzantine Revival style of Russian Orthodox Christianity (note the very elevated domes). Sancta Caelestia is based on the original Holy Wisdom as it would have appeared in the 7th century after the reconstruction of its dome, and Sancta Luna is based on the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (the Blue Mosque of Istanbul). Thus, only Sancta Luna has minarets.

Note that the last interior screenshot displays a fully developed, modern Iconostasis, an iconic feature of Orthodox churches. Caelestia has a mere screen in that place, while Luna has none, as it is a mosque. Luna has a Mihrab and a Minbar instead.

I'd say you had way too much time on your hands...

But I just spent most of the evening revamping my Pokémon spread sheet.

(I will admit - I have basically given up trying to record every single Pokémon I have, like I did the first time. It's been two full generations later, and to refill it properly, I'd have to go through EVERY GAME again ('cos so much stuff has moved around) and I just can't be arsed. (I mean most lesser mortals would gawp at the idea in the first place...)

Principally, even, the list exists primarily to ensure that I don't reuse nicknames (so I will, at the very least, have to copy all the nicknamed Pokémon not in primary teams)... Though for the moment "all" I did was move in the data for all my primary teams, fill a new column with Living Dex entries (sans anything that I havent got yet) and then updated that column with the correct data for the first 150... And that all took... quite a while even when updating the data consists of the quck process "check nickname, check gender (use drop down to change if not male), use dropdown for nature, note IVs if marked)).

And then updating my gender data, because. I can tell you, therefore, that the current mix of Carnage Team (i.e the primaries) is 48 female to 62 males to 1 gender-neutral.

Well. I haven't felt THIS cathartically good - and hysterially amused - about the bad guys getting utterly REAMED, as is right and proper, for quite some time. No redemption, no last minute change of heart, no being arrested-and-fist-shaking, just a geninue "[expletive] you, bad guy and don't let the door to hell hit you on your sorry way, [female canine]!"

And from POKÉMON, no less.

I mean, that's tantamount to Twilight having just ripped Tirek's head off and stuck it on a spike as a warning to the next ten generations that some powers come at to high a price, and then Fluttershy had looked up into his lifeless eyes, looked carefully to either side, and made a little wave like this.

East Asia as a whole does not value forgiveness much anyway, so I think that was to be expected. Legalist (fa jia) thinking is strong in mainstream culture. Be methodical in rewarding, but utterly punish all punishable things.

But not generally in Pokémon, which generally has been on the "dudes are misguided" things for the villains - both in the games and anime.

To see the anime take a stance harsher than the games - and its previous methods - was surprising. To the point it wasn't until two episodes after Hunter J's last appearance (and checking the wiki) it twigged that yes, she was actually dead dead. (Which I think marks a first time we have seen any humans actually die in Pokémon - in any medium.)

On the other hoof, it could be a refreshing change to have a different set of protagonists. The Mane6 have beaten a lot of big name villains, so we know what they're capable of doing, but a new team could give an interestingly different dynamic. Starlight leads them, and we know she has some leadership skills (Sorta). This could be her "trial by fire" episode.

Understandably, this could fail just as well as it could succeed. Who Starlight chooses to take along is important; pandering characters for the sole sake of pandering to us won't do well in a serious finale, but if the team consists of characters that make good sense to bring along, maybe there's chemistry to be found in the interactions and it works out. At minimum, the writers are at least taking a chance by trying something different. Most of season 6's episodes that I feel had failed were because they stick to status quo often, repeating old lessons already used. It needs to try something bold to end on a high note.

Tangential, perhaps one way this season could have done better is by pairing a Mane6 member with a background pony to solve issues. It worked well with Maud/Rarity, so more of that could have been interesting.
