Bit of a joke that just occurred to me: Sarah as a name is derived from the Hebrew word for Princess.

Not intentional, but technically Sarah did give the name-wizard her real name.

It's more than a technicality. The important thing is that Sarah did not at first make a leap from "someone called me this once" to "that is what my name means, that is my identity".

Similarly, just giving her birth name would not have worked. A name's only a true name when its meaning is understood and accepted. A birth name's not a true name if it is rejected. This crops up even today, even in secular societies, when it comes to, for example, transgender people. Hence concept of "dead names" and offense taken when called with such.

For the record, I'll let you know right now that no, the wall was not treated specifically against Fullbringers, there is no barrier spell in place, or any particular spiritual activity that she can sense, other than that the wall does indeed have a spirit that appears stronger than the spirits of the other walls.

I'll be frank: you seem to like neither my characters nor my ideas for the game. So I don't see anything fruitful coming out of Turiel pursuing my characters.

This goes doubly if you want to spare Turiel for a fight with Oscar / Von Geister or whatever other "endgame" Kuroimaken is aiming for.

If the above rings true, either have Turiel rebuke Svetlana or have some other player take care of my characters. There seriously is no point in wasting virtual ink for playing with me if you don't actually want to play with me.

While perhaps the perspective of what I think/want is not 100% true there is truth here, in that I've found myself frustrated with the storylines and ideas FF has presented. Considering....whatever it is the statement about "sparing Turiel" means, I find myself not disagreeing with the above.

That all said, I've been reading more than posting because work has been insane and I just moved homes and we're still trying to paint and do stuff around the house and I'm sorry I just can't the last few days. I'll try to get short stuff up soonish.

If I had to hazard a guess: To spare a character in my experience means "save the character for a certain scene."

Like, to spare Turiel for the End Game would be to not put Turiel in situations where he might be severely injured or killed, or where he'd have to pull out his "big guns" when it might be more dramatically appropriate to save them for the final battle.

I know what I'm planning doesn't run much risk of that but I don't know what Frozen's end game is so...

(Though a scene I'm working on does work decently well of Turiel is present to see the aftermath, but then again we might not get to that scene.)

Dude, it's okay. RL takes precedence and all that. Take a moment to breathe and then come post. I know I've had my moments of absence running after my hopefully-in-its-last-year college graduation.

EDIT: Minor explanation. What Shin-Tan just ran into was a nurikabe (specifically a tanuki no nurikabe), a youkai/ayakashi that blocks people's passages and causes wanderers and travelers to lose their bearings.

I wanted to use this for a while but the opportunity for it only now showed up.

The most relevant dramatic conflict for Turiel is his long-running grudge towards Oscar and Cult of the Ghost King, because of what they did to Court of Dragons.

By contrast, the bandaged stranger & co are a footnote in his story.

Getting wrapped in a conflict with my characters would be a big focus shift and I'm skeptical of whether you'd enjoy it.

If Kuroimaken can pull off an endgame that boils down to a big fight against the Cult (hypothetically bringing Draken back just for that) , then my guess is that you'd like Turiel to be there more than anywhere else.

Other things are other things. For example, I'd like to see your vote for Senshi's fate because I'm curious of your opinion.

It should be noted that Shin-Tan Ubai's plans regarding the cross--the several irons she can take out of the fire if she can get it and do what she wants with it--are almost certainly at cross purposes with what the Bandaged Stranger is doing.

I don't know what he's doing, but if Shin-Tan gets her way he won't be in a position to use it for anything.

I've tried to imply this and mentioned it OOC before, but Sarah is decently well read.

She's not as knowledgable of philosophy as say, Frozen's characters(mostly becuase I've only got two intro-level college courses on Philosophy in my own knowledge base) but she's got some of it.

If I had to describe her personal philosophy, she's cynically anti-nihilistic. The world sucks and people will hurt you even if they aren't trying to, there's only a couple of people you can trust completly if you're lucky, but it's not really anyone's fault and there's no greater purpose to any of it it just "is" which is comforting in its own way.

Considering that Sarah's minutes away from becoming a Gillian, she's gonna be out sooner rather than later regardless.

Of course, if Bai really wanted to help both of them he'd be running interference to try and get Shin-Tan the cross.

Shin-Tan's plan requires Sarah to Vasto Lorde but Sarah's only doing it because she wants to stop being hungry.
