Lector sprites are little fey that appear with furrowed brows and large eyes. They adapted to urban living. They prefer to live in places of learning such as churches, libraries, and schools. As reclusive creatures, they prefer to spend their time reading and studying their favorite subjects rather than engaging in conversation although they gather for safety and to raise their families.

Often large libraries will employ lector sprites to care for the books and to reshelf them but frequently have to remind them not to attack students and anyone who comes to borrow a book. Book thieves frequently find themselves waking up a fair distance from the library sans the book, small valuable items, and sometimes their clothes.

Lector sprites speak Common and Sylvan and can read lips in both languages.

    Combat

Lector sprites dislike combat but attack determinedly if they or their precious books are threatened. Anyone who removes a book without permission from the lector sprite’s library is viewed as a foe and immediately attacked.

Aura of Silence (Su): Three times a day as Standard Action, a 20-foot aura of silence emanates from the lector sprite. All sound is stopped: conversation is impossible, spells with verbal components cannot be cast, and no noise whatsoever issues from, enters, or passes through the area. A lector sprite may dismiss this ability as a free action. Creatures entering this area receive no saving throw and spell resistance does not apply.

Read Magic (Sp): A lector sprite may translate magical text as if under the effects of a permanent read magic spell as a 10th level caster. They can decipher magical inscriptions on objects—books, scrolls, weapons, and the like—that would otherwise be unintelligible. This deciphering does not normally invoke the magic contained in the writing, although it may do so in the case of a cursed scroll. A lector sprite can read at the rate of one page (250 words) per minute. Lector sprites can identify a glyph of warding without the need to make a spellcraft check. Identifying the glyph does not discharge it and allows the lector sprite to know the basic nature of the glyph (version, type of damage caused, what spell is stored).

Sleep Sword (Sp): Any opponent struck by a lector sprite’s short sword, regardless of Hit Dice, must succeed on a DC 15 Fortitude save or be affected as though by a sleep spell for one minute. The save DC is Charisma-based and includes a +2 racial bonus. Creatures who do not sleep but must rest are forced into inactivity and cannot take any actions for one minute. Creatures that do not sleep, such as Constructs, are immune to this as well.

Skills: All sprites have a +2 racial bonus on Search, Spot, and Listen checks. Lector sprites have an additional +8 racial bonus to read lips and can take 10 to read the lips of a speaker as long as they are no more than 30 feet apart and are not distracted or threatened.

P.E.A.C.H. Please Evaluate And Critique Honestly. Being nicer and kinder doesn't hurt either. Note I generally only critique 3.5 and Pathfinder material.
Please, please, please when using non-core material, cite to the books. There are too many books to wade through to find the one with the feat, special ability or spell you use.
