He hurries back the way you came towards the wall protecting the courtyard. "What I do know, is that whatever spell created that fog is no longer being sustained, but the fog remains. And the amount of magic coming off of the water outside is ridiculous. It's no summoning ritual though, I can tell you that much. Did you know most of these backwater inbred imbeciles don't even believe in magic? When I use it they assume it's all mist and mirror, or parlor tricks!"

The castle is hit by a tremor. "Well! That's also exciting! I wonder what spell that was... If only I had spent more of my youth delving into tombs, rather than in libraries with bits and pieces and tiny scraps having to be scraped together to learn the basics of the arcane arts... Stupid savages."

Ron inquires of his unseen companion "You no doubt know more about magic than I do. Do you know what is happening? I'm not sure if it's safe to go out there or to remain inside."

"Even in my days the Leviathans were only summoned once. It was considered idiocy, foolishness in the supreme. This ritual spell appears to be summoning only one. The Leviathans summoned together destroyed nearly an entire archipelago, a ring of islands, not a small ring either. A pity, they had some of the most amazing foods there, and some wonderful coral jewelry. It would probably be safest to go out, get in the boat, and flee, rather than remain here. Though I cannot guarantee we would get very far for so long as that individual outside is around to summon it again."

"Well then, let's try to find a boat out in that fog.

Perhaps a prison guard disguise is no longer a good idea, as that summoner seems to have it in for this place."

Ron uses his magic hat to change his disguise to that of a civilian, though it's still not his true appearance, then heads back out.

You disguise yourself as s peasant from your own times.

The fod has for the most part abated. Though it lingers still upon the decks of the vessels.

Ron looks for a suitable ship and tries to sneak aboard with Ithira.

There is only one ship near enough without swimming, which is not already presumably manned by hostiles...

The one tied at the quay.

ooc: How big is that ship? Could Ron & Ithira sail it? Is anyone else on board it?

[Ralasha]

It's a small cargo vessel, about the equivalent of two large side along buses in deck space. It has a single main mast, and two smaller secondaries, similar to a bireme.

The crew is aboard, making ready to vacate the island... hurriedly.

If one of you has Profession Sailor, you might be able to sail it... alas.

"Looks like our best bet, Ithira."

Unless she objects, Ron decides to stow away first and ask questions later.

[Ralasha]

As you make your way aboard a few of the crew watching seem to fall into a dazed stupor, their conversations lulling momentarily.

Where do you attempt to hide?

"I hadn't thought of that." The scholar is apparently tagging along. (I rolled his reaction... He followed.) "That would mean... Ah, I see, a sphere of magic I am unfamiliar with, which affects the mind."

Another voice a bit further ahead, coming from a bit farther down, with no one noticeably there... "Unless you're going to make us legitimate passengers, could you please be silent before we're caught?"

If there are crates or the like available on deck, Ron attempts to hide behind them, or whatever else is at hand. If he seems to do so without being seen, he changes his disguise to match the way the sailors are dressed.

[Ralasha]

OOC: Considering that on a small vessel all of the crew are likely to know each other dressed/naked/in drag... I hope you can make a DC 50 bluff check. But lets run with it, it may prove hilarious.

You hide behind a crate and change your appearance. What do you do now?

ooc: Ron isn't trying to disguise himself as a member of the crew, just as someone who is of the same culture as them.

If he appears to remain unnoticed, he'll wait while the crew sail away from the island.

Roll it please.

We'll start with Knowledge History (Age of Man), Knowledge Local (Tunnocellum), or Wisdom (to remember what people wore in the town) followed by Bluff (to mimic it), or Disguise (to disguise). The hat may make it easier (+10 bonus), but that doesn't mean details won't be wrong. There being one skill to rule them all has always been rather silly to me. If this bothers you, so be it.

From behind the crate, Ron watches to see what the scholar does and how the sailors react.

[Ralasha]

The scholar stands there, the sailors notice him but continue preparing to make way. If they think anything is odd, they seem to be more concerned with leaving the island.

A few minutes later a lurch is felt as the boat backs under oars.

Ron continues to watch from his concealed location. If the ship gets safely to open water, he'll reveal himself then.

The trading cog turns, it's stern pointed away from the fog, the sails are lowered, and the sweeps urge the vessel to canter as it begins moving forward.

Ron tries to see what he can from where he is. As noted, he continues to watch and wait.

You see crew members rushing about, tacking things down, tightening cords and ropes, relaying instructions. One of them winks in your direction before continuing out of sight.

Seeing that he's been spotted, Ron emerges from his spot and walks over to the scholar.

"Do you know these sailors?"

[Ralasha]

"It is a small world but no, I only know the captain. These are however the same men which brought me to the island. So I would not declare that I am unacquainted with them. Who was the man that winked at you by the way? I've not seen him before."

Ron replies "I don't know him, he was just letting me know that I'd been spotted I guess.

Who is the captain, then? A good man I trust? And where did you come from?"

[Ralasha]

He pauses and blinks a moment. "Mmm, The captain seems decent. He has morals and some semblance of honor... I think. He treats his crew well in any case." He tilts his head to one side, "I came from Camuldinium, obviously... Wait, no... not obvious, obviously. Else you'd not have asked... I suppose that that in and of it's self ought to be self-evident. I was born in Windowesmir, a small, sad little hamlet, surrounded by a bog..." He grimaces, "It smelled terribly."

"Well, I'm not from around here, at all. Would you mind giving me a brief overview of the geography and politics in these parts?"
