Kamoru nodded at Billy, and then looked at Skrolk. "Skrolk, are your extracts usable underwater? How long will their effects last?"

[Treebeard]

Skrolk shrugs "As far as Skrolk knows, they can be used under water. And they can last as long as a regular spell lasts"

[Wolfykins]

"Hmm, are they detectable when used, like a spell is? We probably don't want them to see us enhancing our abilities and analyzing that, if we can avoid it," she said.

[Treebeard]

Skrolk shrugs "Skrolk believes they would be like potions. If others can detect those, then they would probably detect Skrolks extracts"

[Wolfykins]

Kamoru's brow furrowed. "My understanding from Kamyol is that you can't drink potions underwater, so if your extracts really do work the way potions do, you probably need to make them now and we use them before we go in the water," she said.

[Treebeard]

Skrolk scratches his snout "Skrolk has some extracts ready to help negotiations"

[Wolfykins]

Kamoru looked at Skrolk for a moment, waiting. Finally, she cleared her throat and gestured towards Al and Trelane. "Should probably... hand them off, then... Thank you for taking the time to make them."

[Treebeard]

Skrolk shrugs and hands his 2 potions of detect thoughts and 2 potions of focused scrutiny over to Al and Trelene

"Thanks!" Trelane smiled at the rat-man, "so how long do each of these last?" He asked.

[Treebeard]

Skrolk scratches his snout "They last a long while, yes-yes"

(Ooc: detect thoughts lasts one minute per level and focused scrutiny lasts 10 minutes per level)

[STDM Grizzly Ad]

There's sssome flotsam about 80 feet out. I'm guessssing that'sss where we'll find our ship. Osman begins wading into the surf.

"Alright. Al, Trelane, use those extracts while you can. Let's go, guys!" Kamoru said, moving to follow Osman.


Niyolaku eyed the ocean warily, but followed close behind Kamoru, ears and tail held low in his uncertainty.

Billy enters the water, keeping pace with the group.

Trelane took a deep breath, feeling heavy with responsibility as he drank the potions before joining the others in the water, "Okay everyone, I know we are wanting to encounter the pirates sooner or later, so before we do, I want to let you know that while talking with them, I'll probably have to act unusually rude and crass, so if anything I say or do while we negotiate with them upsests or offends you guys in anyway, I'm apologizing in advance, it's all part of the act and I have the highest respect for each and every one of you. On another note, I was thinking of giving everyone, not just Al, an alias. After all, what thief or pirate gives their real name? It's almost expected to be honest."

[Wolfykins]

"What did you have in mind?" Kamoru asked, looking back over her shoulder at Trelane, ears twitching.

[EdgeGrinder]

"I understand if you say some unpleasant things for the pirates' benefit." Alloishus said.

"Well I was thinking of nicknames close to at least part of everyone's names to make it easy to remember. Alloishus is 'Al'; I'll go by 'Trey'; Kamoru, you can be just plain 'Ru'; Osman can be 'Oz'; Skrolk can just be 'S'; and Billy Robbins, you can be just plain 'Rob.' Any objections or suggestions?"

[Wolfykins]

Kamoru made a face, ears drooping low. "Oh, please, no... 'Rue' is an actual nickname, but only my father and brother call me that! And not 'Kam', either, that's what we call Kamyol," she said, looking very disgruntled. "You might as well just call me by my surname. My real surname, not 'Figleaf'," she smirked slightly. "Wolfheart. My father was not originally part of the clan; his surname is Wolfheart. So technically, our full surname is Wolfheart de Konran, but that's too long, and I don't want 'Konran' thrown around too much," she explained.

Osman hits the water and begins to swim out about 30' toward the flotsam and presumed location of the ship. The first breath comes with tender nerves as uncertainty gives way to near panic before the test proves successful. Further breaths come much more easily. Kamoru enters the waves and as she gets about waist deep she has the sensation of deja vu and suddenly feels like the water is no longer restricting to her at all. Her faithful wolf follows her, uncertainly at first, and the two make their way along the bottom. Niyolaku digs his paws into the soft sand to force himself along faster, but still moves only half as fast as he's used to. Trelane and Al find swimming to be easy with their magical enhancements and they catch up to Osman quickly. While Billy finds that water travel is not kind to him and he only manages to swim out 15 feet. Skrolk second guesses the whole swimming aspect all together and flies 60' out toward the flotsam, staying just above the wave caps.

As you enter the water you notice that the movement of the current is constantly churning the sand visibility is limited to 80 feet. As you near the vessel, you see a humanoid shape emerge from below decks carrying what looks like a wooden chest.

Kamoru focused her attention on the humanoid shape, trying to make out more details about it; determine what it was. Perception: (1d20+16)[19]

As a swift action, Kamoru used her martial flexibility to take the Hunter's Trick: 'Chameleon Step'.

Billy continued to swim, swimming as far as he was able to keep up with the others.

"As far as I can tell from here, the person carrying that chest seems to be human," Kamoru said. She glanced back at Billy.
"Billy, if you're having trouble in the water, grab on to Niyolaku's saddle and let him pull you!" she suggested.
"Al, Trey, let's get closer and try to talk to them," she said, moving quickly along the bottom, but trying not to get too far ahead of Alloishus and Trelane.

Alloishus swam out in a double move, towards the figure ahead. He kept an eye out for trouble.

Billy hears Kamoru and nods in understanding. He adjusts his course to reach Niyolaku and holds on, patting Niyo's Side.

"Ready to move when you are Niyolaku"

[Wolfykins]

Niyolaku glanced back to see Billy. He looked momentarily confused, since there was no added weight as when people had been on his back before. He blinked a few times, ears twitching, before turning and moving to catch up to Kamoru as much as he possibly could, digging his paws into the sandy seafloor and dragging himself forward. (Double move.)

Trelane swam towards the wreckage while getting used to breathing underwater. It was an enjoyable experience, one he hopes to repeat when circumstances weren't so dire. He saw the mysterious figure and nodded his agreement with Kamoru. Swimming towards the stranger now, he waved his hand in greeting while trying to see what kind of persons
they may be...

Skrolk keeps his eyes out for trouble as he flys above the group

Skrolk sees nothing but a blurry reflection of himself and the glare off of the surface the water. Osman moves after the man emerging from the ship and stops just over the ship's deck. The assumed pirate begins swimming off to the northeast then suddenly moves very quickly east, disappearing into the murkiness of the deep.

"I would suggest sending two of our faster swimmers that are combat capable to handle that situation. One, thats resources for Goldenrod, two, he will alert others to our presence before we can begin working. "
