Maple Cabin, Night

Cheasadh won't stir as Sophie leaves, sleeping peacefully and nightmare-free.

Also without any pleasant dreams, due to the dream-eater's presence, but you can't have everything.

[Morty]

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

Concerned, Sophie tries to gently shake him awake. If that fails, she breathes in the direction of his face, using her power to share some of her own strength to wake him up.

[Zefir]

[Maple Cabin, Morning]


He appears to still breath, but the shaking does no good other then making his head swing around.
The breath works.

"Urgh. What's going on?" he says.

[Morty]

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"You were unconscious, but I don't know why," Sophie explains. "I confronted the thing causing Cheasadh's nightmares. It's some sort of demon that someone had banished to the nightmare realm. Your dream-eater wouldn't have been enough for it, but I managed to get it to leave her alone. It's going to come to me next night, though."

[Zefir]

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"Oookay." the man says a bit overrunned by the mass of new information in such short time. He needs a few moments to get it all in his brain and to think up the reason why he was on the ground.

"So what's up next?" he asks. He can't really imagine what he can do to help. The dream eater was his best move and it didn't seem to work out.

[Recaiden]

Arlem, still disguised as Grace, arrives here (by train), to search for the person who might have the soul jars. Up to main cabin, that's the first thing to do. Unless they run into anyone to investigate along the way.

[Morty]

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"I have a day to prepare to meet the demon in my own dreams," Sophie says. "Fortunately, I should be a more difficult victim than Cheasadh."

[Arriving]

Thrice-Gazer is floating behind "Grace".

"I haven't seen anyone with either of those souls here yet. And I'd rather not stick around for long. The spirits in this place..."

[Recaiden]

"What about the spirits here? They aren't very far out of the ordinary."
Arlem asks. She leads the demon on a quick circuit through the main building and around the lake, in front of the other cabins.

[Morty]

[Arriving]

"They're not like me. They're not from another place, they're from... in between. And they don't like me. They're bound not to attack unless someone is a threat, but they make me uneasy," the demon admits.

[Zefir]

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"I have a day to prepare to meet the demon in my own dreams," Sophie says. "Fortunately, I should be a more difficult victim than Cheasadh."

[Arriving]

Thrice-Gazer is floating behind "Grace".

"I haven't seen anyone with either of those souls here yet. And I'd rather not stick around for long. The spirits in this place..."

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"Okay," he says. "And how can I help you?"

[Recaiden]

"Since they were mortals once, yes. But don't worry. They will not bother you with me here." Arlem nods slightly. She hadn't figured the demon to be one for feeling nervous.

[Morty]

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

Sophie runs her hand through her hair.

"I'm not sure yet. Can you summon any other beings that have some power over dreams?"

[Arriving]

"It's... unfamiliar. This place is nothing like anywhere I'd been summoned or bound to before," Thrice-Gazer says.

[Recaiden]

"How many times have you been summoned before, and where to? Places that physically resemble this one are many, and places with spirits caught halfway are not so rare either, in this world."
Arlem notes a little spider scuttling in the grass and leans down to talk to it. Maybe it's seen KR (it hasn't).

[Morty]

[Arriving]

"Before the dwarves bound me to guard their tomb, an orc sorceress had summoned me as she tried to stem the advance of humans into her homeland," the demon explains. "She failed and I was slain by a human hero's spear. I was different then, but being destroyed and reforming in the Other Place changed me. Then I was called upon by a human, wishing to safeguard his slaves. He made a mistake, so I broke free and pulled him back with me to the Other Place," it continues, without emotion, then pauses. "The soul... it's not here, but it was here. Its residue remains. It exerted magic here."

[Recaiden]

"Spirits are not summoned in normal circumstances. So it follows that you only see certain unusual parts of the world. Battles to be fought and treasures to be guarded."
Hearing Thrice-Gazer's announcement, she straightens up and transforms back into the catgirl she was when visiting MERC.
If KR was here, they'll need to find someone who knew she was here. Perhaps someone in charge.
Arlem begins searching for such a GLoG member.

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

Sophie runs her hand through her hair.

"I'm not sure yet. Can you summon any other beings that have some power over dreams?"

[Arriving]

"It's... unfamiliar. This place is nothing like anywhere I'd been summoned or bound to before," Thrice-Gazer says.

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"Not right now." he replies. "I would need to find someone and teach me or get to the dream world myself. There I could summon everything I can do now."

[Morty]

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"We've only got a day," Sophie says. "So it looks like that won't work. We could find a way to bring you into my dream, but... the demon might notice it too soon."

[Morty]

[Main Cabin]

Arlem will eventually find Reelshka, busying around the cabin. She looks up and peers at both Arlem and her companion.

"Can I help you?"

[Recaiden]

"Hello Reelshka."
Arlem tries to read the goblin's mind for some more context, but she already knew who she was. It would be silly not to keep up with who's who in the League.
"I hope so. I'm Arlem, from VIGIL. This spirit is assisting me with its magical senses. We're looking for someone who stayed here but has since left, who has a magical seal that's key to preventing an apocalypse. I was hoping you might know her."
"She was recently going by the name 'Grace' and looked something like this-" The shapechanger's features and dimensions shift to demonstrate. "-though that wasn't her real identity."

[Zefir]

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"We've only got a day," Sophie says. "So it looks like that won't work. We could find a way to bring you into my dream, but... the demon might notice it too soon."

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"It's not like we got other options so far, right?" The man says as he tries to get up by himslef.
"But what will be the plan if we manage it?"

[Morty]

[Main Cabin]

Reelshka frowns. Arlem will find her mind to be occupied mostly by matters of the League, her own architectural work, thinking about her son and considering having another child.

"I'm afraid I don't recall such a person."

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

Sophie will help the nameless man get up.

"I might be able to fight the demon in my dream, maybe even use my power. I don't have a lot of experience with it, but... my fiancée is a warlock. Maybe she knows magic that would help. A warlock is... a sort of magician that's a bit similar to you, really. They specialize in summoning and communicating with various creatures."

[Recaiden]

Arlem shrugs; that's understandable.
"It was a long-shot."
The facade of being Grace fades; she goes back to the no-one she was before.
"Could you tell me anything about people who are no longer here, since-"
Wait. Asking that question, she realizes that she might have misunderstood.
"Thrice-Gazer, do you know how long ago she was using magic here?"

[Zefir]

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

And up he gets with help, still a bit wobbly on the feet.

"Sounds a lot like my kind. Will he be able to get me on your dream?"

[Morty]

[Main Cabin]

The demon bobs up and down.

"It's difficult to say. I've been stuck in that tomb for all this time and I don't experience its flow like you mortals do at the best of times. But I should say it happened between this moment and the moment I registered the intrusion into the tomb. Closer to this moment."

Reelshka looks between the two of them, perplexed.

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"She," Sophie corrects him. "And I'm not sure. Even if she can, her magic requires a lot of preparation and components. And we don't have much time. But it's our best chance."

[Recaiden]

Arlem takes in a sharp breath.
"That was quite a while ago in mortal terms, Thrice-Gazer. But I suppose it does put a limit on where to look."
She smiles to Reelshka.
"I don't suppose you would happen to have a record of all the magic users who've been around here in, say, the past year? Or better, of everyone at all?" KR may have done magic here, but she needn't have been obvious about it.

[Zefir]

[Main Cabin]

The demon bobs up and down.

"It's difficult to say. I've been stuck in that tomb for all this time and I don't experience its flow like you mortals do at the best of times. But I should say it happened between this moment and the moment I registered the intrusion into the tomb. Closer to this moment."

Reelshka looks between the two of them, perplexed.

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"Then we should go for her." The man says still a bit confused by her. He seems to be not common with same gender partnerships. Just out of curiousity he checks his hands for a ring. No ring and no ring shadow that tells him he wore one.

[Morty]

[Main Cabin]

Reelshka frowns.

"You're asking for a lot, you know. We don't keep precise track of everyone who passes through here, and even then, it's rather invasive."

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

There is indeed an engagement ring on Sophie's finger. It's silver, with a large sapphire set in it.

"I'm going to call her and tell her about the situation," she says.

((I don't know if Halae is up for such a scene, so we might have to handle it off-screen.))

[Recaiden]

Arlem's ears flick back, tail sweeps from side to side. She tries not to scoff. 'Invasive' would be reading Reelshka's every memory of the past few years and rifling through them to find her. Invasive would be rounding up everyone in GLoG and scanning them one by one. She must live in such a nice world, to worry about giving out names and dates.
"Just information. Rather a lot, but that's just to be sure we find the one fact we need. I could even make myself forget all the details that don't directly bear on the case."

[Zefir]

[Maple Cabin, Morning]

"Okay." the man replies. "I will wait in my room for now"

Reelshka peers at Arlem, with furred brow and ears dipping downwards.

"...very well. Vigil has always dealt with us fairly. I'll see what information I can provide for you."
