Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Sooooo you have a specific trick in mind that will only work with a Pokémon with 5 moves, and at least one of those is on the usual banlist for at least OU and potentially übers?

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Greetings to the good people Pokemon thread!
I just hopped back to the handheld Pokemon games with Y and Omega Ruby after almost a decade of break from the series. Last games I finished were Pearl for DS and Emerald for SP. My interest in the series dropped from friends moving away from the games.
In retrospect, I really shouldn't have waited so long, since the games are better then I was let to believe. I'll take "casualised" games with improved QoL features any day. Plus, the Kalos region looks great.

Ah yes, I know, I like Kalos too, most people don't like the villains of Kalos, to me they just fulfill their purpose nothing special, I've been playing the games consistently and I do like the changes they've made with Gen 6 and onwards. fairy type is cool, and so is mega-evolutions. Gen 7 still has the Gen 6 exp. share so don't worry about going into that. people widely think OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire are the better of the Gen 6 games, but I think both Kalos and updated Hoenn are pretty cool.

I didn't mind the exp share in Omega Ruby at all. I rotated my team and added new members fairly liberally, something I couldn't do before. I also like the idea of mega-evolutions. It's a welcome buff to the likes of Altaria, and rare enough that you're not forced to use mega evolving pokemon.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
I think my experiences playing Gen VI were the easiest times I've ever had playing a Pokemon game. Mega-Evos make getting through the game super-easy when you get them, and the games seem like they made powerful Pokemon readily available pretty early so you don't have to try too hard. Like, I think it's entirely reasonable to complete X/Y without ever using a Pokeball, which is kind of insane to me. Sure you don't have to use any of these things, but you have to actively decide you don't want to use these pretty powerful options? I have been trying to challenge mode these games, but X/Y wasn't too much of a challenge, I just rode one of my 3 megas through most of the game.
All that said, X/Y is an awesome game if you're getting back into the series. It catches you up on all the new stuff pretty quickly, Fairy-types are awesome, most of the Pokemon are cool and probably reasonably useful, and I found it was hard to get completely lost in the game.
Sun/Moon are really good gameplay in my opinion if you want a slightly different Pokemon game. There's a lot of elements of it that I think are really cool. Alolan Pokemon are actually fantastic for shaking things up, Z-moves are fun but not nearly as crazy as Megas (especially since all the major bosses use them) and the bosses are actually challenging. They get a lot of stat boosts that make it so you can't necessarily just brute force everything. It's great!

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Alright, I jumped into moon despite having lots of Y and OR post game still left. The fact that I have missed all the event 'mons until now and I don't want to miss another might have influenced the decision.
Water Totem fight was probably one of the best fights I've had in the series. Since game showers you with items I didn't connect the dots and promptly ignored the Dire Hits I had received. In the end Dartrix's Razor Leaf was enough to school the totem pokemon

Eey-up, folks. You can now get Ash's Pikachu (with original hat) via code (PIKACHU20) until the 25th of September.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Got it for the original hat already, not regretting my decision, Kanto hat is best hat.
the Kanto Hat Pikachu I got is level 1, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Quick Attack and Agility. Static for its ability.
I'm sure some later one will turn out to have some better moveset or whatever, but I don't care. this is the hat from back when it made sense that Ash was an incompetent trainer. the hat that badass Primeape wore and got to remain badass forever by not getting caught in Ash's eternal cycle of defeat. and if I want a better Pikachu, I'm sure I can catch or breed one myself, this Pikachu is for the looks.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
The article that the e-mail linked to (which is where they actually revealed the code) has a bolded PLEASE NOTE:
PLEASE NOTE: Although there are six different behatted Pikachu to choose from, you will only be able to get one of them via this special code. The Pikachu you get will vary depending on when you enter this code. To receive Pikachu wearing Ash's original hat from the Kanto and Johto regions, you must enter the code between 0:00 UTC on September 19 and 23:59 UTC on September 25, 2017.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Could'a done, then, with bolding the bit about you only to get one, then, not the just the bit at the end. Granted, like I say, it was rather late when I did read it - but I am not normally known for missing things like that usually (everyone rolls a 1 occasionally). I would have said that was the more important bit, personally. (And if I missed it when only 3/4 awake, I imagine I won't be the only one.)
But eh, I'm not really gonna fuss about it, honestly.
(And, if prior games are anything to go by, UltraSun/Moon wil likely have move tutors where you could teach Iron Tail anyway.)
Honestly, though, mostly I miss Darkspark's Bodyslam - in game, Darkspark, don't you dare or I'll turn my Con Drain aura on! - from Gen I/III...
Shame of it is, it wouldn't be Pikachu anyway, since we all know Pikachu has a) Scrappy only for Ground-based resistance to electricity, b) integral light ball boost and c) IV above and beyond the norm...!Last edited by Aotrs Commander; 2017-09-20 at 11:16 AM.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Apparently, Light Ball doesn't even work for Ash Hat Pikachu because it's not technically Pikachu, and the natures are preset, so they're not going to be useful competitive mons anyways. If I'm gonna have a collector's item, I may as well have the one I like most, so Original Hat it is.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Wait....let me check something.... I think I remember....
Yep, Hat Pikachu comes with its own Z-Crystal called Pikashunium Z.
so don't worry about that, hat pikachu just uses thunderbolt for its z-move instead of volt tackle.
Edit: 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt its called.
also, Thunderstone doesn't work on it either. for all intents and purposes, Hat Pikachus are not normal pikachus.Last edited by Lord Raziere; 2017-09-21 at 02:08 AM.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
So, a crazy lady lies to me repeatedly, tricks me into unknowingly agreeing to do a highly dangerous, potentially-lethal task that she later admit she planned for me to fail, and then offers to escort me to the Pokemon Center.
Why does she then interpret my "no" as "I want to stay here for now" and not "I'm going back there, but not with you, because I fully expect you'd try to lure me away from it, and possibly arrange an 'accident' of some sort" because, seriously, she should know that I'd expect that sort of thing at that point.

Nah.
Remember: despite her pointing it out, the pokemon in this generation go to the islands of their own free will because you can't control which ones go, where they can work out, soak in a sauna, eat rainbow beans, hunt for treasure and grow berries. so its completely different living conditions than being frozen in a block of ice.

It's really just the pose, but...

Also, this thing is going to be absolute trash purely because of its typing.

200 in defenses is still only 50 to fighting and ground thanks to the quad weakness. Maybe if it had a special version of levitate that also made it a ghost, but rock steel is a pretty terrible type combo.

rock steel isn't bad offensively though i would be surprised if this thing had sweeper like stats.
