    I keep thinking that 3d printing will spell the end of the miniatures industry. A lot like Amazon killed bookstores.

    I've hear people speculate about that before, but i think the vast mayority buying miniatures will still buy the real thing rather than print their own. And while 3D printing does allow people to make their own miniatures and stuff like that i think it's also important to keep in mind that the technoligy can be used by the miniature industry as well. 3D printing allows for some crazy intricate design possibilities that could improve the quality of their miniatures and as such make their products more attractive. As of now though, i think it's still cheaper to produce the models the old fashioned way rather than printing them, although admitedly that seems to be a trend that's rapidly changing...
