[Kish]

"An elemental, and the forge," Grack replies to Tarak's question. "This map is of the forge area, to the east and below from where we are now. We have little knowledge of the mountain door's defenses, I'm afraid; I got captured attempting to scout it."

[Cavir]

"Mountain Door needs to be cleared first then. Grack, you willing to try again, this time with numbers? Zuhgan, can your remaining forces keep anyone from the Door getting to the Forge and alerting them about us?"

"Yes, eating is a good idea." As Grack and Suga speak, Feagon asks in a low voice to Tarak "How difficult do you think dealing with an elemental will be?"
A little louder he asks Grack "Is it an earth or fire elemental?"

Tarak

Lost in his own thoughts and confusion over the crude map, Tarak barely catches Feagon's question, "Uh...what? Oh, um...elementals are cagey, instinctual beings, and will pose some unique challenges. They're immune to a great many things, but usually solitary, but difficult to catch unawares or off guard."

To Suga, "I'm in agreement that we should clear the area behind us, if that's what you mean by clearing the Mountain Door first. I don't like our current situation, feels like we're pinned in here."

[Kish]

"Earth," Grack says. "It seems to be set to guard the rooms there. Indeed, this should be interesting."

[Cavir]

"Yes, deal with the reinforcements and the way out first. Getting hit from behind would be bad. Earth elemental- my axe can hurt it yes? Grack, coming along then? Good." There's a plan and it's about to begin. Suga smiles. "Let's go."

[razorback]

Feagon tests his bowstring and not feeling unshakeably confident in it, changes it out for a new one before nodding.
"Alright, the Mountain Door sounds like our first point. Ready when you guys are."

Tarak

"Okay. Back the way we came, then." With that the hobgoblin sets off.

[CWater]

"Alright! Lead the way!", Celesta grins, looking excited about the thought of upcoming battle.

[Kish]

Grack goes into one of the back rooms, emerging shortly dressed in leather armor and with a shortsword at his side.

"Back to the mountain door, then," he says. "If I haven't come back within two days, assume we all died fighting the dglinkarz."

He leads you back to the cavern where you descended and climbs the damp, slippery stairs back into the room with the corpses of the stirges.

"Most places you haven't already seen on this level have Ulf's followers...as may the places you have already seen, if they've been reinforced. You said something about a mule?"

Celesta looks curiously at the dead stirges. "What were those?" She doesn't seem to be much bothered about what direction they are going, trusting the others who had been here before to find the path.

Tarak

Retracing their steps to the upper level, the hobgoblin keeps his kamas at the ready.

"We left our donkey at the front gates, and I know of no way to get him across the rope bridge spanning the rift."

[razorback]

Feagon just shakes his head at Grack's comment. "Have faith, young one. My friends here and I will see it through, one way or another. We'll do our best to make sure you make it back to your home, too."

[Cavir]

Suga answers Celesta. "Birds that thought we'd be tasty."

Turning to Grack. "Know of another way to get the donkey to this side of the bridge? Otherwise it will have to wait there."

"Moving fast will give them less time to figure out what is going on. I say we start with the door right here." He points to the nearby door just to the north. "Grack open the door, Celesta and I move in fast then the rest follow?"

[CWater]

Suga answers Celesta. "Birds that thought we'd be tasty."

"Right, well looks that they hunted the wrong prey." She nods approvingly to Suga.

Turning to Grack. "Know of another way to get the donkey to this side of the bridge? Otherwise it will have to wait there."

"Moving fast will give them less time to figure out what is going on. I say we start with the door right here." He points to the nearby door just to the north. "Grack open the door, Celesta and I move in fast then the rest follow?"

"Works for me, I'm ready", Celesta grins again. She takes out a javelin out of her quiver, holding the spear in her left.

Tarak

Looking to Suga, then giving Celesta and Grack another appraising look. "The make-up of our little group has changed significantly. Shock-trooper-style may play to our advantage."

Twirling his twin kamas, and nodding at the warriors leading the way, "By all means....after you."

[Kish]

Grack walks past the skeletons by the north door and reaches for the door-handle. As he turns it, fire emerges from eight small spouts in the wall surrounding the door and fills the part of the room anywhere close to the door.

Grack falls, badly burned and still on fire; he's still breathing but unless he receives quick healing and quenching he's likely to be dead in seconds.

Tarak

The hobgoblin reels away from the fire blast, crouching low and launching into a roll. When he regains his feet he sees Grack down and badly burned, "@#&*! Should've checked for traps first."

Quickly to his feet and rifling through his backpack, he pulls out a vial of pale blue liquid, squats and pours it down the badly injured orc's throat, "Drink this, we'll get you patched up....I promise."

"Agh," Grack says. He's still burned, but no longer unconscious and dying.

As Grack collapses, Feagon rushes forward and pulls out a vial as he moves. Checking him to see he is still alive, he forces the potion to his mouth and make him drink.

"Whoa!", Celesta jumps back when the flame trap goes off. "What the heck?!" She glances around, but sees no enemies. "Sneaky bastards.." She glances at Grack who took the worst of the hit, but it looks like the others are already fixing him.

"Dammit, this was what I wanted to know about the dwarves. Tarak check for traps then we rush in."

Did the door get opened?

[Kish]

Fed potions by both Feagon and Tarak, Grack rises, uninjured. "Nasty trap," he comments. "Probably built in by the Maker of Death, not added recently."

The door remains closed, having blasted Grack as soon as he turned the handle.

[Cavir]

"Tarak, can you see if that trap is still active?"

[razorback]

Reaching a hand out to Grack, he helps him rise as Suga talks to Tarak. "If so, I think the rest of us might take a few steps back, then." he says with a smile to Tarak as he nocks an arrow.

Tarak

The hobgoblin approaches the door cautiously, knowing full well what sort of damage the trap can do and how it is triggered.

He searches for a way to disarm it without opening the door.

Suga waits outside of the blast range, expecting the enemy to be ready, or even coming to respond from another direction.

Celesta stands next to Suga in a low stance, keeping the spear ready to strike.

[Kish]

Tarak finds the mechanism for the trap and painstakingly disables it; it takes about 20 seconds to disable once found.

The door to the north should be safe to open now. As far as you can tell.

"If they all heard that, this will be a great fight!" Suga readies for the door to be opened.
