[Kish]

Tarak's darkvision picks up the shapes of three dwarves with bows. They seem to be facing west, toward the arrow slits you saw when approaching the fortress, not toward you.

Tarak

Spotting the dwarfs and their weapons, the hobgoblin turns to his companions, holds up three fingers and makes a gesture that mimics drawing a firing a bow and arrow.

He then draws out a handful of multi-hued sand, and one of his kamas. Using his kama he points to his chest and motions toward the room, then points at Suga and Celesta and indicates they should follow. Seeing the understanding on their faces, he smiles and vanishes.

Swift: Turn Invisible
Move: B8 and slap flat of the kama blade against the wall to make a loud noise.
Standard: Ready Standard Action - Color Spray if the dwarfs come into the spaces in front of him.

[Kish]

"What's that noise?" one of the dwarves says. He turns his gaze and his bow toward Tarak, but doesn't move toward him when he sees nothing.

You can still attack the dwarves by surprise, if you wish to; they aren't aware of any of you, though they know they heard something.

Tarak

When the dwarfs fail to react to the noise, the hobgoblin keeps moving until he's right next to them. Materializing seemingly out of thin air he raises his hand and with a puff of breath creates a dazzling burst of brilliant colors that encompasses all of the unsuspecting foes.

Archers, and too far away dammit. Suga darts in hoping Tarak has distracted them enough, and sprints right past and around the first dwarf, looking to cut off their escape.

"GRAAAAH!!!" Celesta shouts a battle cry as she runs forward and once she has good enough view that is possible in these tight corridors, throws her javelin over Tarak's shoulder at the dwarf in front.

Tarak's color spray illuminates the dark room, and all three dwarves slump to the floor, unconscious.

Tarak

The hobgoblin instantly drops to a knee and fishes his silk rope from his backpack. Turning to the others, "Take their weapons, and help me tie 'em up!"

[Cavir]

Suga kicks their weapons aside then searches the dwarves for items of note and anything that might help them escape later. He shakes his head seeing Tarak wanting to tie them up. "Fanatics like that will seek blood when they get out, ours or whoever they find first. Like wild dogs, better to just put them down quick and painless. Your call." He'll help ensure the ropes are secure, then take their beards.

[Kish]

"They'll try to kill us anyway, but if you shave them, they'll consider that a mortal insult. The point of taking the beards is to prove you killed them anyway; leaving them tied up means they're only thirty seconds with another of Ulf's followers away from getting right back in the fight," Grack says. He frowns at Tarak and adds, "Why don't you tie them up and talk to them privately, hobgoblin? See if they can assuage your doubts about the situation."

[Cavir]

"Fine." Suga holds back from taking their beards.

[CWater]

Celesta looks dumbfounded at first, when the battle she was expecting didn't really happen. Eventually she shrugs, and goes take a look at what lies further in. She doesn't seem to care what the others plan to do with the sleeping dwarves.

Tarak

The hobgoblin's body language shifts dramatically with Suga and Grack's words, from moving quickly and with purpose, slowing, then stopping completely. His shoulders slump momentarily, then he coils up the rope, shoves it back into his backpack and stands to face the others. His expressionless gaze lingers on Suga for but a moment, then he turns to Grack, "My name is Tarak....but you know that already, don't you? Do with these what you will....orc."

He takes a step back from the prone figures, then turns and moves toward the doorway leading from the chamber.

As Tarak proceeds to talk to the dwarves, Feagon nods to Suga and Celesta as he moves out of the room to the back to the large room they just came from as he makes sure they have no one sneaking up on them.

Tarak, glancing back at Suga, simply shakes his head, then turns back to the doorway.

To the east, a staircase leads up and then the corridor dead-ends.

Leaving the grisly business to Suga, Tarak ascends the stairs slowly checking for traps, then examines the stone wall for secret doors.

Celesta sighs when they must stop again to look for doors, but stays at the mouth of the small corridor, keeping an eye out while Suga works, just in case anything interesting happens.

Suga shakes his head. He was past being blood thirsty but knew what needed to be done. He gave a solid clean finish to each then collected each beard. He tied each beard in a simple knot like the others then caught up to the rest of the group.

Tarak does not find a secret door in the wall at the end of the corridor.

Tarak

Sighing with frustration, the hobgoblin begins a more meticulous search of each of the interior surfaces of the dead end.

Feagon continues to watch their back, shifting slightly. Without turning he says to Grack "What do you make of those three? Do you think they will give any information?"

"I think if Tarak spoke to them alone, they would give the information that they would no sooner tolerate the existence of a living hobgoblin than that of a living orc," Grack returns, "but no information that would be useful otherwise."

Tarak finds a secret door in the south wall after six minutes of searching.

His meticulousness served him well, and as the hidden passage finally revealed itself, he opened the door and walked through.

Tarak finds himself in a small room with no other visible exits.

Gruesome task complete with bodies then turned face down, Suga heads over to see what Tarak has found.

Tarak

Peering into the alcove, the hobgoblin scratches his head then looks to the strange deadend stairs to his left and back to the tiny room in front of him. He shrugs his shoulders and begins a thorough search of the room. When he hears Suga's approach he pauses and turns, "You might go check with Grack, but I think we could be finished with this....level....area, whatever you want to call it."

"Nothing down here? Huh." Suga heads back to the previous room and while waiting on Tarak looks out the windows the dwarven archers were focused on. The bit of fresh air was good.

Seeing Suga come back, he nods to Grack before asking "Anything down there?"
