Re: Forge of Fury IC
Three of the last four zombies are rendered unable to do any further damage by Tarak, Celesta, and the wasp. Seeing that only one enemy suddenly remains on the battlefield, the woman shifts her stance to a more offensive one, lowering her shield, and slashes out, shredding the last zombie. After a few seconds of silence, she blinks and sheathes her sword so that she can wipe away the blood from a scratch on her face. Feagon climbs to his feet and casts a spell on Suga.

Re: Forge of Fury IC
Tarak
As the last of the zombies are dispatched Tarak tucks his kamas into his belt, turns and does a quick status check of the party. Suga's wounds appear numerous and some serious, but with Feagon returned to the land of the living, the cleric was already tending his comrade's wounds. Turning to Celesta, "This town sure knows how to throw a welcome party."
The giant wasp flutters over to the hobgoblin and dissolves into a cloud of amber mist, that swirls rapidly before flowing back into the amber gem. Placing the gem back into the pocket of his lose trousers, Tarak strides over to the woman, "It appears we arrived none too soon m' lady." Sketching a sloppy bow, "I am Tarak, and these are my friends Celesta, Suga, and Feagon. Would there, perhaps, be a place nearby to which we could retire to rest, recovery, and speak of what goes on here....what it is that stirs the dead?"

Re: Forge of Fury IC
Celesta keeps hacking at the fallen zombies until the last traces of her fury finally wash away. She grimaces as the exhaustion hits, though does her best to not let it show.
"Haha! Ain't that true!", she replies to Tarak, while attempting to hide that she's out of breath. Her wounds also hurt more than she'd ever care to admit, especially now that the battle rage was gone.

Re: Forge of Fury IC
The woman blinks at the hobgoblin addressing her in surprise for a minute before saying, "Thank you for your assistance, strangers. I'm not from around here myself, either. However..." She turns to the building behind her. You see that a sign hanging precariously askew declares that building the "Blood on the Vine Tavern."
She bangs on the door and shouts, "The zombies are defeated for now!" Then she walks across the square, to a boarded-up building on the south side bearing a sign that declares it "Bildrath's Mercantile," and repeats her actions. After a minute, you hear the sound of the tavern door being unbarred, and two surly-looking, middle-aged men emerge. The door to Bildrath's Mercantile opens as well, and a younger, taller, and less overtly grumpy-looking man emerges. All three of them set to work rebuilding the barricade that the zombies broke through. The woman gestures to the tavern door. "I'm Ashlyn," she says belatedly, "and I'm afraid I can't heal any more today, but the attacks seem to have stopped for the moment."Orth Plays: Currently Baldur's Gate II

The hobgoblin nods knowingly at Ashlyn's words then fishes through his backpack briefly before pulling out a small rolled up slip of parchment, "Ahhh...so did you answer the summons as well?"

Re: Forge of Fury IC
Suga sizes up the 3 that come out of the buildings then puts them out of his mind as they get to work. They would raise the alarm if they saw any more undead coming. He heads to the tavern door following the woman's gesture and waits beside it while activating his healing belt again, having the woman go first. There may have been some manners to the action, but it was also better to not have a large bloody orc be the first one in the door with scared people inside.

Re: Forge of Fury IC
Ashlyn pauses to read the parchment Tarak holds out to her, her brow furrowing. She looks far more surprised than Tarak expected, and why may become clear when the may Tarak addresses replies, "Indirovich? He's dead. Body's still at his mansion, far as I know." He points south.
"This is unfamiliar to me," Ashlyn says, handing the parchment back to Tarak and leading the way into the tavern.
Spoiler: Perception 18You realize that the tavern sign originally said "Blood of the Vine," but the F was scratched over with an N.
The tavern is crowded, most people in the common room looking up nervously at your entry. “I and my companions are called Lightbringers," Ashlyn says. "We slay undead wherever we can find them. We’d heard Barovia was thick with the horrors. Thendrick and Mathilda wanted to check out the church to the northwest. The townsfolk believe that’s where the zombies arise. Everyone told them to talk to Madam Eva first—she’s some sort of wise woman who lives west of town, apparently. But they wouldn’t listen, the arrogant clods. They went to the church, confident they could handle whatever they found without needing advice. That was three days ago. I haven’t heard from them since, and haven’t been able to venture beyond this square.”
"You should ask Ismark about that letter," she gestures to a shadowed corner where a young man dressed in a dirty, stained noble's outfit is drinking wine from a goblet. He doesn't seem to notice that she's gesturing to him.Orth Plays: Currently Baldur's Gate II

Feagon is silent as Ashlyn make her comment about them being "lightbringers" and "undead slayers", only a slight arching of his eyebrows as he peers at his companions letting them know what he might be thinking of that.
As she points to what looks to be a down on his luck noble, he tilts his head at his companions. "Ready?" is all he says as he waits a moment before walking to the table. Getting Ismarks' attention, he nods at the table and sits at a chair.

Re: Forge of Fury IC
Tarak
Taking the piece of parchment back from Ashlyn, "Three days? You haven't been able to make your way across town? Barricades in the streets, boarded up buildings, and earlier you said the zombies were defeated 'for now'. How frequent and how intense or these attacks?"
He studies the paladin for a moment looking for further signs of wounds or fatigue, as his mind turns over what she has described. As Celesta finishes ordering drinks and moves toward Ismark's table, Tarak hands over the slip of parchment with a wink and a nod to his sturdy friend. After studying the room and the assembled townsfolk, he leans in close to Suga, "Keep an eye on Celesta and Feagon will you...but stay close as well. This place gives me the creeps."
Turning back to Ashlyn, he straightens and puts on a wide grin, then slaps Suga on his rather large and meaty shoulder, "It's your lucky day m'lady. My friends and I should be able to help you reach the church to discover what has become of your fellow Lightbringers." The hobgoblin surreptitiously scans the nearby faces to confirm that he was overheard by down-trodden villagers.
Leaning in a bit closer he says much more quietly, "Of course we need to rest and recover first as we had to fight our way through the town just to get here. We should most certainly visit this Madam Eva to see what she has to say before we attempt to reach the church."

Re: Forge of Fury IC
The more Suga learned about this Ashlyn the less impressed he was. Yes she seemed able to swing her sword well but battle tactics seemed to be missing from her training and being left behind when heading into danger by her so called friends caused an eyebrow to raise. Granted, with the orc's disfigured face it probably wasn't noticed by any. He does happily accept the drink from Celesta and is sure to not crowd the young man Ismark.
He taps his healing belt while taking a large gulp of ale. The simultaneous healing and alcohol was a great feeling. It was a shame the belt only worked a few times a day. Maybe some day when he was richer he could work on that. When Tarak mentions heading out to the church Suga was sure he felt a slight vibration of excitement from his axe.
