Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire
And then the spelltroopers came in and shot the survivors. Then their leader went on to take over half of europe i ur mean some place in the Mookie-verse.
Then the Callians fought the spell wolves in a war which lasted several years where some other non conqured country in the Mookie-verse came in at the last second and claimed they saved the day whilst they built some stupid giant sky scraper as the Callians were slowly being bombed to death and sending half of the population into the trenches whilst the the country in the Mookie-verse went over to Callian (is that the place) and shot the last few spell wolves and then went around stuck up their own arses going on about how they saved the Callians whilst the leader of the spellwolves was already about to go shoot himself.
Damn other country in the Mookie-verse|

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire
Um... 16bitperformance, are you sure it's wise to post that in a so far friendly thread attended mostly by Americans? Not to mention politics is a taboo subject by forum rules anyway...
Also, in your analogy, the last few times when you mentioned Callan, it should have been the Winter Archipelago.Last edited by Winterwind; 2007-11-02 at 06:01 PM.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire
Mosly...eh...
When I first saw the picture posted today I read the text as "Hey Dominic, it's me...your old pal mostly."
Suffice to say, I was a little confused. Then again, even knowing that was supposed to be the dude's name, it still would have confused me.
I didn't realize Dominic had any friends.
Anyway, this thread has really helped me understand the picture. I would never have found the comic where his is first mentioned, nor would I have realized there was anything special about his name other than I think it sounds strange.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire
Mostly strange, but not entirely
Is it just me, or is there something hostile, or maybe... mailcious? about the eyes?
Lord Dominic, save us from a second cheesy friend-turned-antagonist-needing-redemption plot! We your humble subjects beseech you to
No wait, he likes this kind of thing. Right.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire
You sound like an All American Face.
Well, the Americans may have saved the free world twice in the last century, but they were very late on both occasions. The Germans, on the other hand, were always jolly punctual. I like that in a country.
Anyway, I'm amazed that Mookie thinks he can con us into believing that DD has an ongoing plot. From a certain skewed point of view, it sometimes seems that all the earlier story arcs are adding up to something big, like a great jigsaw puzzle plot. But, no, really, Mookie's just pulling this stuff out of his ass.
Put like that...
Why are we still reading this webcomic? It's a horrible, horrible train wreck, and yet I can't look away, or stop snarking about it.Last edited by Manticorkscrew; 2007-11-02 at 09:08 PM.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire
In former times, I would have been disgusted by such a stance, but nowadays I find myself more and more swayed to what some other poster, Occasional Sage I believe, described: It's so much more fun to mock the comic than the comic could ever provide fun itself even if it returned to the glory of the Long Long Ago, that I am not even sure anymore whether I want it to improve.
MST3King is awesome!
As for today's strip:

My god... Domthulu!
Anyhow, looks like we're in heading towards a "Mad Science Horrorshow" arc.
Pfft, if I wanted something like that, I'd read this. Oh wait, I do anyways

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire
One would think I'd be more excited about Runcible Spoon summoning Cthulu. I mean, it's one of those things that's really awsome in theory. Who doesn't like combining mad scientists with wierd names and incomprehensable horrors from beyond reality?

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire
I think that's supposed to be Runcible Spoon, not Dominic.
Anyway, *points to last editted post of himself*, that's what I think of it.
Congrats.
(I wish somebody had noticed when I got a custom avatar myself. I'm feeling so neglected. Forum, why don't you love me? )

Oh, you mean the squidly-thing
Yeah, I know it was Runcible Spoon but does that sound nearly as good?
Runthulu? Spoonthulu?
See, it's just not as good. I appeal to the Rule of Funny.
And Domthulu.
PS - You see Winterwind, it's easier to get attention from the forum if you shout it from the virtual rooftops and club people over the head with it.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire
Ironically, I'm about to run a Call of Cthulhu game in 3 1/2 hours.
Say, does anyone happen to have a good idea what, exactly, could happen to a history professor stranded after a long and sanity-draining journey in the midst of India, together with a NPC magician about whom the professor's player still wonders how the hell that person can cast spells without ruining his sanity (I wonder how long until she realises the truth: He does ruin his sanity, or more specifically, did so already centuries ago )?
I know, generally, where I want to take the plot to, but I'm always open for new inspirations, and I improvise 90% of the time anyway.
Yeah - one would think a guy with a sledgehammer and a flintlock pistol would draw more attention than that.
Sheesh, how brutal has this world become, that people don't even notice weapons anymore?

That mind flayer is spelling out 'lol' with his mouth-tentaces...Almost.
It's more ldl at the moment. If that tentacle in the back were gone, it'd be perfectly upside-down.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire
Yes, that might be interesting. However, there's just one tiny flaw in your idea.
To Mookie, 'foreign' countries are always more noble and honorable than his US Stand-In (Callan). If they have prejudices, it's for a good reason; usually, within the first week, he explains the prejudice in a way that makes it seem All Too Clear (at least, to Mookie). Otherwise, they're enlightened and perfect societies!May you get EXACTLY what you wish for.
