Crazy Paladin Idea

Ok so a player of mine is making a crazy paladin (Aasimar, Haunted background, Warlock/Paladin) and is planning on focusing on Smite, including the smite spells. Do they synergize well with regular smite? And is there anything i should watch out for?

He'll cast it as a BA, then concentrate on it and add it to a hit. So no bless during that

If UA is allowed and he picks up Eldritch Smite as an invocation the PC could, for instance, BA Searing Smite, Divine Smite and Eldritch Smite all on the same turn, blowing through 3 spell slots. Not a very sustainable battle plan, but entirely possible.

To add to what djreynolds said, the Palock would not be able to concentrate on both Searing Smite (or any Smite spell) and Bless. That doesn't mean the cleric can't Bless him. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

So basically crazy high nova damage is something to watch out for.

Say he swings a sword and then cast a smite spell a bonus action. He could if had booming blade from somewhere like half elf cantrip, hit with that, searing smite goes off and then he lands a smite on top.
And nothing wasted if he misses, possibilities are endless

You'll probably want to pack a couple pearls of power, but works just fine. Smite spell + Paladin smite + invocation smite + weapon cantrip is one big, nasty swing. Even better if you have a diviner friend to declare it a crit.
