Why is my "Smartphone" getting dumber?
Increasingly I can't view some websites.
Just this week, for example:
https://www.chaosium.com/
Now just leads to "Webpage Not Available"
And previously, all the images at: http://oots.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page became invisible to me unless I click on the image, copy the "URL" and remove the "s" from "https".
Also for a while, when I go into sites like: http://oots.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_O...awlin%27_Fools
I can't click on and read the articles inside anymore.
And while I can still read
http://touch.latimes.com/
But now if I try to read:
https://www.nytimes.com/
or
https://www.washingtonpost.com/
My phone's Internet Access "crashes" closing all "windows", which didn't used to happen.
And more and more, I just can't read the links that other Playgrounders post to this Forum.
What's going on?
I have a lot more pages "Bookmarked" now, if I erase some, will it help?
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy from my job, which I think uses "Google Chrome" which I use "In Private".
Any suggestions, besides buying my own phone and plan?

Those are likely sites that contain many heavy adds. You could try some add-blocker browser, and see if it helps?
I don't know how to speed up phone though, or if yours is dying of old age or if it's something else..Well that was awkward.

I'm immediately drawn to the fact that it's your work phone. Is there any sort of filtering/monitoring/security software they make you use? Is there any required encryption that you can't turn off even when you're using it for non-work stuff? I've noticed one or two websites that don't work on my personal phone, that work fine otherwise, but it's rare.

Re: Why is my "Smartphone" getting dumber?
I notice that what works uses http and what does not work uses httpS. And then you say removing the S on some sites works.
What seems to be is that your phone i s onyl trying unsecure http and not secured https. I had Flash game where you couldn't reach the forum in.game after they switched to https because the chromium based ingame browser wasn't adjusted to work with https.
It may be that you need some settings adjusted on the phone. Upgrading Chrome browser might help.
Am not sure but that "In Private" is somthing that can be affecting security settings. As a work phone I'd ask the IT guys why you can't surf to httpS sites and ask them if they can fix that. It's definitely something they'd want you to do anyway since IT guys love security.
If *you* are the IT guy, sucks to be you.
