    Celticbear Madame Zostra Hero Alive
    Felandria Jenny Leclerc Hero Dead
    JbeJ275 Ox Bellows Hero Dead
    Ramsus Zoe Ingstrom Hero Dead
    Ronnoc Father Rhinehardt Traitor Alive

    Spoiler: character stats
    Show
    Spoiler: Madame Zostra
    Show

Crystal Ball – Hazy images appear in the glass. Once during each of your turns, only when the Haunt is active, you can attempt a Knowledge roll to peer into the crystal ball. On a roll of 4 or higher, you can search through the event or item deck and place the card of your choosing on top (shuffing the other cards afterward). On a roll of 1 to 3, you avert your eyes; move your Sanity counter one place to the right. On a roll of 0, you stare into Hell; move your Sanity counter two places to the right.

    Spoiler: Father Rhinehardt
    Show

Spear: A weapon pulsing with power. You roll two additional dice (maximum of 8 dice) when making a Might attack with this weapon. You can’t use another weapon while using this one. Weapons can only be used when attacking, not when defending.
The Madman (+2 Might, -1 Sanity): Companion. Cannot be dropped, traded, or stolen.
    The Holy Symbol (+2 Sanity).
The Ring: If you attack an opponent that has a Sanity trait, you can attack with Sanity instead of Might (your opponent defends with Sanity, and damage is mental instead of physical).

    Spoiler: In the Organ Room
    Show

The Girl (+1 Sanity, +1 Knowledge): Companion. Cannot be dropped, traded, or stolen. She will automatically and nonoptionally join any Explorer who enters the Organ Room.
The Dog (+1 Might, +1 Sanity): Companion. Cannot be dropped, traded, or stolen. You can, on your turn, direct the Dog to move to any explored room up to 6 spaces away; it will automatically return to you at the end of your turn. The Dog can pick up, carry, and/or drop 1 item at any point during this movement; you can have the Dog carry an item from you to another Explorer who you want to have it, or pick up an item that’s lying on the floor and bring it back to you. The Dog isn’t slowed by opponents, can’t use one-way passages or go alone through any room that requires a roll to travel through, and can’t carry items that slow movement. The Dog cannot take an item that cannot be traded away from an Explorer (but can pick one up and bring it to you or to a different Explorer who is within range, should it simply be lying on the floor). The Dog cannot take any item from an Explorer who doesn’t hand it over voluntarily (you can use the Dog to facilitate another Hero passing you the Revolver because your Speed is higher, but the Dog won’t help you steal the Revolver from the Traitor). It will automatically and nonoptionally join any Explorer who enters the Organ Room.
The Medallion: The holder of this item is mmune to the effects of the Pentagram Chamber, Crypt, and Graveyard.

    Dice thread.

Madame Zostra, Jenny Leclerc, Ox Bellows, Zoe Ingstrom, and Father Rhinehardt, as you enter the mansion the door locks behind you. In front of you are stairs leading to the second floor. On the way in you saw windows for a basement, but you don't see a way to get down there. Right now, you are all in the Entrance Hall. Recapping from the rules, each of you has a number of spaces of movement equal to your current Speed, but your turn will end if you draw a card for any reason. You can leave the Entrance Hall to the west (moving into the Foyer, takes one space of movement), or by the north or south door (either takes one space of movement and will place you in an unexplored ground-floor room). If you move into the Foyer, you can then move up the stairs (takes another space of movement and will place you in an unexplored upper-floor room) or leave by the north or south door (takes another space of movement and will place you in an unexplored ground-floor room).

Ox bellows immediately moves forward heading up the staircase, (then waiting to see if he has to roll or can move again). He peers nervously at the darkness but he's determined to get this over with.

Zoe asks her doll, Mr. Patchwork (a teddy bear made of different squares of different types and colors of cloth), which way they should head. Mr. Patch work answers by being flung in the air by Zoe and flopping down with his right arm pointed north. And so she goes north, to the room right of the entry door.

Ox finds himself in a room which appears to have suffered an intense fire. Oddly, the stairs leading to the room don't seem burned at all. Before he can think about this, a teenage girl in a bloody, torn dress begs him for protection, and he agrees to let her accompany him.

    Spoiler: Omen: The Girl
    Show
Ox, move your Sanity and Knowledge both one place to the left; these will be reversed if the Girl parts company with you. The Girl can't be dropped, traded, or stolen.

Roll 6d3-6 here; if you roll a 0, the Haunt starts immediately.

Zoe goes through a door and finds herself on a patio. That closet door is open…just a crack. There must be something inside.

    Spoiler: Event: The Closet
    Show
The Closet remains in this room from now on, unless removed because of a roll. Any Explorer in this room can choose, once on their turn, to open the door. To explore the closet, roll 2d3-2 here. On a roll of 4, draw an item card. On a roll of 2-3, draw an event card. On a roll of 0-1, draw an event card and remove the Closet from this room as it is now empty. Zoe can choose to explore the closet immediately, but whether she does or not, her turn ends.

Opening the closet, Zoe sees an open coffin. She's inside it.
    Spoiler: Event: Funeral
    Show
Make a Sanity roll. If you result is 4 or better, you shrug off the vision; move your Sanity counter one place to the left. On a 2-3, the vision shakes you; move your Sanity counter one place to the right. On a 0-1, the room disappears as the coffin closes and you really are inside it; move your Sanity and Might both one place to the right as you dig yourself out, and if the Graveyard or the Crypt has been discovered, you’re moved to one of them (your choice of which if both have been discovered); neither has been, so you stay where you are.

Father Rhinehardt steps through the south door from the foyer and finds himself falling. He pulls back fast enough to turn his fall into a controlled slide; as he lands at the bottom of the coal chute, he realizes that he's found the way to the basement.

    Spoiler: map
    Show

Rhinehardt has not drawn a card and thus can move further. Zostra and Jenny are still up.

On the other hand, at least we got early AND convenient access to the basement, that's nice.
Kish, could you put a link to the roll thread in the first post please? It'd be real handy.))

Zoe exits the closet. Mr. Patchwork.... does not.

Father Rhinehardt finds himself in a room piled high with junk. It would be easy to sprain an ankle here, but as he looks around, he finds a sharp-looking spear. As he picks it up, it seems to pulse with power.

    Spoiler: Omen: Spear
    Show
You roll two additional dice (maximum of 8 dice) when making a Might attack with this weapon. You can’t use another weapon while using this one. Weapons are only usable when attacking, not when defending.

Roll 6d3-6; if you roll a 0 or 1, the Haunt begins.

    Spoiler: the Junk Room
    Show
Whenever anyone leaves this room, they need to make a Might roll. Unless they roll 3 or better, they take one Speed damage.

Because of the room's placement, the north door opens onto a blank wall; Misreading corrected. You can exit to the north, the east (which leads to the Basement Landing), the west, or the south.

Madame Zostra finds herself in a garden.

    Spoiler: Event: Something Hidden
    Show
There's something odd about this room, but what? It's tickling the back of your mind. You can choose to simply ignore it. If you try to figure it out, make a Knowledge roll. On a roll of 4 or higher, you find a hidden alcove; draw an item card. On a roll of 3 or lower, to your continued aggravation, you can’t figure it out; move your Sanity counter one place to the right.

Unlike the Closet, this will not remain in the room; Zostra tries to figure it out now, or no one ever does.

Jenny heads up the stairs and steps into a strange, dark room with buttons on the wall. She debates whether to press a button.

    Spoiler: The Mystic Elevator
    Show
When attempting to use the Mystic Elevator, roll 2d3-2. If you roll a 4, it moves, with you in it, so that its door connects to any other discovered room in the house, you choose. On a 3, it moves to connect to any discovered upper floor room you choose. On a 2, it moves to a ground floor room, on a 1, it moves to a basement room, and on a 0, it moves to a basement room and stops moving abruptly enough that you take 1d3-1 physical damage.

If Jenny does not choose to use the Mystic Elevator at this time, she might as well use up her last movement point retreating to the Upper Landing.

This decision, and the roll if she chooses to use the Elevator, can be made by whoever posts first.

((OMG we got access to the basement AND the Mystic Elevator early AND in convenient places? Whaaaaaaaat!?
Anyway. not point using it right now, better to keep the Mystic Elevator where it is until it needs to be used since we already got basement access.
In case anyone here isn't aware because they haven't played the game before, the Mystic Elevator is super useful and we should probably just leave it alone until the Haunt starts since right now it's in an easy place to get to. Basically it allows for the chance to take massive shortcuts that can make or break the game.))

Ox opens the door, discovering a vault. It looks like it should be possible to figure out the lock...whether it's possible for Ox is another question.

    Spoiler: The Vault
    Show
When in this room, once per turn, you can attempt a Knowledge roll to open the Vault. If you roll a 6 or better, you can take two items and the Vault is left unlocked and empty.

He leans against the west wall, preparatory to trying, and the option is abruptly taken from him as the wall spins around, dumping him in...a gymnasium?

    Spoiler: Event: Revolving Wall
    Show
You discover a fake wall that leads to a new room on the same level. You automatically move to the new room; for the rest of the game, any Explorer on either side of the Revolving Wall can attempt a Knowledge roll on their turn to activate the hidden switch. On a roll of 3 or higher, they move to the other side of the wall (no movement cost); on a roll of 2 or lower, they remain where they are.

    Spoiler: Gymnasium
    Show
Once per game, each Explorer moves their Speed one place to the left if they end turn in this room; this takes place immediately for Ox.

Ox's attention is immediately grabbed by a ring lying on the floor.

    Spoiler: Omen: The Ring
    Show
If you attack an opponent that has a Sanity trait, you can attack with Sanity instead of Might (your opponent defends with Sanity, and damage is mental instead of physical).

Roll 6d3-6. If the result is 2 or lower, the Haunt begins.

Zoe finds herself in the dining room. Someone seems to have left a religious icon in the middle of the table.

    Spoiler: Omen: The Holy Symbol
    Show
Move your Sanity counter two places to the left now. This will be reversed if you lose the Holy Symbol.

An apparition in white lace shimmers into view in the gymnasium, but everyone in the house hears a young woman's voice say, “You’ve left me alone these long years, but I waited. For you. For our wedding.” The ghost glides toward Ox and says in the same audible-all-over-the-mansion voice, “Once you’re dead like me, we will be together forever.”
The ghost fades, but the faint sound of an organ playing a wedding march sighs gently through the house.

You all know each other well enough to know that Zostra, Jenny, and Zoe, as well as Ox himself, will oppose this ghost's efforts to marry/kill Ox. As you consider whether Father Rhinehardt will do the same, you have a sinking feeling...
