As you gather in the reading room of the Order of the Palatine Eye, you make your final preparations. Dorrn hefts a sack full of supplies for the trip; food, water, a tent; you plan to travel by magic, but it would be foolish to go in completely unprepared.

You all link hands, and Ward utters the words of the spell. The study fades out in a heartbeat, and in the next, you feel a terrible wrenching sensation as you find yourself standing in a clearing. Your heads are spinning from the trip, and it's a bit of a struggle to stand still while your entire body wants to lurch sideways. You stand in the shadow of a large archway, made of moss-grown bleached bones, glittering with gems.

The ground is blasted and dead in a wide area, and the oak trees growing about 15' away look sickly and sinister. Even the sun in the sky looks pale and dying. Ravens caw with excitement from the trees.

After a moment, a wind rushes through the clearing, and the trees sway and creak...and keep moving after the breeze dies down, unfurling striking branches and showing signs of both mobility and hostile intent!

    Spoiler: Sniping sphere
    Show
Snipers specialize in making single, deadly shots, often over great distances. Practitioners of the Sniping sphere can shoot or throw ranged weapons at a creature engaged in melee without taking the standard –4 penalty on their attack roll. Associated Feat: Precise Shot.

All practitioners of the Sniping sphere gain the following ability:

Deadly Shot: As a special attack action, you may make an attack with a ranged weapon. You may add any one (snipe) talent you know to this attack.

In addition, you may expend your martial focus to increase the damage dealt by the attack by 1d10, or 1d6 if the attack targets touch AC or is made with a scatter weapon. You must choose whether or not to use this ability before making your attack roll. These extra damage dice are not multiplied on a critical hit, but are added to the total. For every 4 points of base attack bonus you possess, you deal an additional 1d10 damage, or an additional 1d6 if the attack targets touch AC or is made with a scatter weapon.
Oops, those D8s should have been 10s. Oh well, my fault.
    Spoiler: perfect shot
    Show
As long as you have martial focus, you may roll twice for each attack roll with a ranged weapon made against a creature with cover while using the attack action and take the higher result. Whenever you would suffer a miss chance due to concealment, roll the miss chance twice and take the most favorable result. In addition, as long as you have martial focus, you no longer automatically miss when rolling a natural 1 on a ranged attack roll; your attack must still hit the target’s AC as normal. At +10 base attack bonus, you can reroll a result of 1 on a ranged attack roll once per round.
    Spoiler: steady shot
    Show
When performing a deadly shot, you may ignore the cover bonus to AC granted to targets by anything less than total cover, and the miss chance granted to targets by anything less than total concealment. Total cover and total concealment provide their normal benefits against your ranged attacks. At +10 base attack bonus, you also ignore total concealment.

stow bow, draw longspear, move action + expend focus for rapid patrol threatened area gets +20ft bonus (so threatens out to 30ft, does not threaten adjacent). Punishing rebuke zone talent, so any attack against an ally (not including himself) provokes)
    Spoiler: Patrol
    Show
Patrol: As long as you have martial focus, as a full-round action you may increase your threatened area by 5 ft., +5 ft. for every 4 points of base attack bonus you possess. This increased threatened area is applied after the effects of the reach weapon property. Until the beginning of your next turn, you may make attacks of opportunity against any creature in this threatened area that provokes attacks of opportunity. You may move to bring the creature that provokes the attack of opportunity within your reach as part of these attacks, provided your total movement before your next turn does not exceed your base speed. Any movement you make provokes attacks of opportunity as normal. Talents with the (zone) tag grant additional effects to this ability. Each patrol may only benefit from one (zone) talent.
    Spoiler: Punishing Rebuke (zone)

A deep, rumbling growl erupts from one of the trees as an arrow buries deep within the trunk. The ravens caw and rush into the sky above, circling the area.

One tree, then another, hammer away at Lethos with several long branches each. He parries, dodges, rolls and jumps, and is only slightly glanced by the branches.

But the third tree strikes true once, then again. Branches wrap around Lethos, holding him by the neck and dragging him to the tree. He is hoisted into the air, his feet dangling, while choking sounds escape his throat.

These are Hangman trees they have spores which can make you think they are friendly. They are vulnerable to electrical attacks.

Tree #6 grabs at Dorrn, pulls him in and trashes him soundly (grappled, 13+11+14+10 dam). The other tree passively shuffles off to the side, trying to dodge the thundercloud hovering over it.

Valeria fights off - just barely - the two trees attacking her.

Lethos slips up the last tree under cover from the grim archway, and wounds it grievously. It strikes at him in retaliation, tagging him once, twice, but he has learned their moves now and slips out of the grasping limbs. (11, 12 damage).

The last of the vertigo clears.

(Thought that would finish the tree, so I didn't think to post using bloody counter. Hope its okay to do it retroactively, since it only effects the tree and Lethos)

When the tree strikes out at him the first time, Lethos opens himself up, blade high, trusting that the damage he has already dealt will slow the tree enough to land his blow first.

Dorrn's axe bites deeply in the tree attacking him, but he is still grappled. The fleeing tree is run down by lightning, and sags over with a resounding CRACK. Lethos fells his opponent and looks around for more mayhem.

One of the trees grabs Dorrn (9 damage), the other grabs Valeria, and then they stride doggedly towards Lethos, carrying their prizes along with them.

The tree holding Dorrn convulses and smokes as it is struck by lightning again and again, and cracks halfway down the middle, depositing Dorrn on the ground as the side holding him lists over grotesquely. It is truly, profoundly dead.

(Given the trees acting, I assume a new round)

Lethos switches to his spear, but goes back to his bow when he sees his ally grabbed by the hostile tree.He slides sideways to get a clean shot, then draws and looses several times, careful not to hit Valeria.
