    While getting a bit more distance from the monster, with few spells available and no targets nearby, and feeling uncomfortable unable to teleport at all right now, he takes his wand and taps himself with it.

    @Travis: Although you are aptly defended by virtue of your own spells and those cast by Raikou, there are no more teleports left.

    The way out is shut and although your allies have been blasting and cutting and stomping these creatures, the big freak with the saw is still pretty much a threat.

    And since the group is still too spread out at this point, you draw out one of the many wands purchased at Runestone and run it across your left arm, inscribing shadowy sigils as you feel your body imbued with the old teachings of the Shadow Hand School, said to rival that of the mightiest conjurers.

    However, will this be enough to guarantee victory over these creatures? Sure hope so, as that undead ape screeches and runs up the stairs, looking at both you and Rusty, while the other freaks crawls and slither around the vast room.

    @Rusty: With the team pretty much safe, you get ready to join them and reach higher ground when that beastly pile of mutagen ambles through Travis' web and the small human head looks at you, still covered in glitter as it licks its lips and the large mouth begins to regurgitate.

    "So... t...t...tasty!!!"

    And having said that, just like with Elizabeth prior, it launches a disgusting organism from its main mouth that opens itself and latches to your feet and legs, gripping tight and never intent on letting go.

    Seeing Hannibal get the same kind of trap that had been spit at her she looks to the warrior waiting to see if he was able to break out of his bonds before deciding on what sort of actions she would take, after all getting in the mans way if he had a way to get free would no be helpful, but buying the others time could possibly become useful as she looks at the wand she and celaena had found earlier.

    Hearing Raikou's plan the old woman calls out to the others. "Stay safe, try to keep him distracted. I have an idea that almost got me and Celaena killed, may work against him." the old woman says before rushing off towards the zombie monkey who had been plaguing Raikou before and with her hands glowing with divine energy she tries grasping the creatures head like she had done upstairs. "Go in peace to heaven."

    @Raikou: You watch Rusty grabbed by one of those things that creature vomited as they painfully latch on to his legs and lower torso, never intent on letting go as the smell of brine wafts from them.

    The big dwarf has a bunch of magical doohickeys- he should be able to pull a move not unlike what Travis did with Elizabeth against the Choker. The Heart of water spell is still washing within you. If the big guy with a Hammer can't get out, you certainly can, but for that, you need to see if Rusty can free himself.



    @Elizabeth: That fountain...

    A day ago, when you and Celaena tried to solve the puzzle leading to the Cupid Mural, you both nearly died, engulfed in flame. Unless the trap has been shut down by you solving the puzzle, you could have it intentionally go wrong and bathe the beast in fire.

    It's a risk- that thing's been shown to be highly resistant to Raikou's electric blasts and Sharkun's acid tipped guisarme, but what about fire? Barrels of gunpowder dot the upper floors. Somebody placed them for a reason. Reason enough to have one of those Lickers sacrifice itself.

    But to get down to the bottom level, you;d have to either traverse the web filled area and the chain saw wielding maniac... which is a no.

    Or take the detour and handle that undead monkey. You sent a pair of them and a Crimson Head to Heaven a day ago. A close call, to say the least, but they are now resting in peace, their souls saved.

    You can do this, as you wish the best of luck to the rest and run down the stairs and ask Zodal to grant you yet another sliver of his power to send that undead simian to a better afterlife, as your hand glows with golden light and reaches out to the monkey's face...

    Only for the damn bastard to swat your hand away and screech right in your face! Stupid monkey! He made you waste a spell!

    Having quite miraculously avoided the worst of the blast despite his imposing bulk, Sharkun then sees Raikou behind him explaining him the predicament of Hannibal.

    @Rusty: Normally, this would mean that you are trapped.

    But this is far from a normal case. Alexia's household has pushed your strength to the limit. You died here once and will not give her that pleasure again, as you look at the organic clamp trying to hold you down and all it takes is one single Hammer bash to pulverize as you move further away from that bloated psycho and his spinning blade.

    It should take him awhile to reach you... as long as Travis' spell last, that is. Hopefully he has more. Speed has been instrumental in outrunning it so far.

    Huh... Guess Hammers didn't need any help. Anyways.

    The halfling glances back at the behemoth horror slowly ambling out of the web spell. If they left it alone for a few more seconds, it's fast healing would start to undo all their hard work.

    Let's keep that thing on it's toes shall we? Assuming it still has toes that is...

    With that, Raikou lobs another orb of lightning at the monster then races down the hall.

    @Raikou: So Rusty didn't need help after all.

    The group has managed to gain some distance from him, but this thing is still not down. It keeps moving forward and between those traps it vomits and his saw and the fact he is healing himself, you will have him rather healthy when he eventually reaches you.

    Can't have that, as you look down at the beast and your shard crackles with blue lightning as you rub both of your hands together and create such friction, that a halfling sized sphere of pure electrical power blasts the monster's human head, causing its whole body to fume as it looks up at you.

    "I said... S.. s.. s..s.. STOP IT!""

    You're hurting it, that's for sure... but he's not down yet. At least he's still pretty much caught down with Travis' Web spell. And so, satisfied with your solid blasting, you move further towards Sharkun, past the destroyed remnants of one of the gunpowder barrels, sure to always keep your distance from this thing.

    Sharkun is relieved to see Rusty managing to dispatch the clam easily, and to rush towards the next barrel. He is even more pleased to see the ball of lightning Raikou sends right to the face of subject Barrin.

    "Nice shoot, Raikou!"


    Now, Elizabeth has not managed to deal with the undead monkey facing her, and with Barrin lumbering behind her, she is not safe. Travis is still able to move out of harm's way. Sharkun thus launches himself towards Rusty, all the metal on his back clanking and clanging.

    "Go Rusty, help out Elizabeth, or fetch that next barrel before some other monster explodes it before us!"

    @Sharkun: You could go dispatch the other monsters, but some things are far more important.

    Rusty managed to break free from that thing's clutches, but Elizabeth is still very much in danger and out of your reach, as you stampede over the stone walkway and order Rusty to do something.

    If those barrels are destroyed, you may need to come up with another strategy against this foe.

    @Travis: Not wanting to be left behind, you move as far back as you can, making sure to stay close to Sharkun, but not before lobbing one of your own electrified orbs at the creature.

    Unlike Raikou's massive electric blasts, this one hurts the bloated bastard... but not as much as you'd like. It's flesh has absorbed most of the damage as a few crackles dance around its body. Not enough to fell it, certainly.



    @Rusty: Zoos are for losers.

    You could go deal with the other freaks roaming around, but little Elizabeth left alone with an undead monkey? Can't have that, as you race down the stairs, thanks to Travis' spell and the miserable rotten animal doesn't even get a chance to screech, as your Hammer comes down and all that's left after the thunderous smash is a disgusting pulp of grey fur and blackened bones and muscle tissue.

    A job well done. One less to worry about. And it would seem that monkey smashing has sent a message:

    The other creatures are not closing in.

    @The Party: The creature's buzzsaw begins to emit steam from various pores around its disgusting growth as the head laughs and not only ambles out of the web-

    It's dashes out.

    This thing has been granted a boon. Not unlike yours earlier by Travis, as it makes its way rather quickly up the stairs and heads straight for Sharkun, giving the Jasidian a chance to strike.

    As Hannibal comes charging into the rescue Sister Elizabeth is about to call out she can handle this, split up. However it was to late as the monsterous form of Hannibal and his hammer seem to appear out of nowhere smashing the monkey into the ground. Thank you Hannibal, though I would not have come this way if I didn't think I could not handle such a creature. I did survive here before without all of you after all." she says her voice a mix of worry and gratitude.

    ""I was hoping you and one of the mages would go left, and the dwarf friend of yours and Raikou went the other way while I went this way. The more targets to chase the better chance we have of catching the beast after all. I was coming down here however because of a rather dangerous trap, if it is still working, with all those gunpowder barels down below I think if we move them all to the fountain we can cause a chain reaction that might bring him down. I am resistant to fire at the moment so should be mostly safe, you however are not. I can either give you my wand to tie that creature up again for a small time, buying the others a little bit of time, or you can help me down below. The choice is yours to make." she says letting the warm glow she had been charging earlier wash through Hannibal curing no doubt all of his wounds before making her way back down to the ground floor.

    You could've handled this zombie- it is what clerics of Zodal like you excel at. Positive and Negative don't mix well, after all. But if a ten foot tall man with a Hammer is going to come by bashing, who are you to argue?

    However, things take a turn for the worst when Sharkun is heavily shredded by that monster. Perhaps the idea to split was sound at the beginning, but not anymore. You cannot reach the dwarf in time to heal him- and the gods know that Holy Warrior is in need of it- but you can at lest help Hannibal by giving him the necessary Light that would've destroyed the ape, moving down the stone walk way and gaining some measure of distance from the saw wielding maniac.

    At this point, all you can do is pray.

    Meanwhile, in the Olidammaran Den…

    Corwin keeps his head lowered as he awaits further information from Rusty, seated on his chair.

    Drakan sits at the table and plays with his dagger, spinning it on its axis and catching it before it falls flat. The map drawn earlier by the Olidammaran Hammer spread all over the table.

    Ross walks back and forth around the Den, head looking at the floor as he glances at Corwin.

    “Any news?”

    “No. He hasn’t responded since my last message, but…”


    “THEN TRY HARDER, GODDAMIT…!!! “

    Drakan looks up from the table and stop the spinning dagger with his index and looks at the halfling, who is fuming as Corwin looks back at him, stern faced.

    “Excuse me?”

    The halfling takes a deep breath and counts silently to ten.

    “… sorry. It’s just that this was a bad idea having him go back there again. I don’t trust half the team he’s assembled. And the worst part is that I know the ones I distrust are with him.

    I don’t know…Shadow Walk in there and back?”

    Corwin puts his hands together and looks at the Olidammaran rogue priest.

    “It’s a spell I would rather not use, Roscoe. It will take me away from here, yes, but the map alone will not be enough to pinpoint his location. Locate Creature has proven similarly useless.

    That place is far bigger than we thought. You tried scrying earlier and look at what happened.”

    Corwin points to an old divining font that has cracked into pieces.

    "Rushing blindly into the Shadow Plane will probably get us to her domain, but who knows where and in what state. Right now, Hannibal, Raikou and Travis know a lot more about the layout than us. You are the man of Faith here, Roscoe.

    And he did ask you to pray for him.”

    Ross looks at his holy symbol and gives it a light kiss before looking up at the ceiling.

    “If this is a joke, Olidammara… it sucks! Corwin, what other options do we have?”

    “The only other option I can think of is going there, but I don't have any more wizard scrolls at my disposal. It won’t be an easy trek, but you know this already. His last message to me was that he was in Specimen Storage. I have relayed everything to you up until this point.

    Hannibal is resourceful, Roscoe. Have faith in him.”

    “I have faith in him. It’s those with him I do not. So how long do you think it will take to get there? I’m guessing the sewers as a start?”

    “That would be the best bet, yes. My spell was unable to find Hannibal and Scrying has proven just as successful. We are talking slogging through Novistador infested tunnels, Roscoe. But there is the matter of leaving the Den.

    You, Drakan and Sasha are the highest ranking Olidammarans here. If word gets out that all of us have left, if we return. And that being a big IF… who knows if someone like The Society may have taken over this place? Or worse.”

    Roscoe goes silent for almost a minute and looks at Drakan.

    “Let me see that map. I want to check the places Rusty marked.”

    The lanky rogue puts the dagger on the table and blinks twice before looking back at the halfling.

    “Uhhh… Boss? The map’s gone!”

    Corwin gets up from the chair and walks to the table while Ross rushes towards it.

    “The map was right here… and you’re telling me it walked away on its own?”

    Corwin raises an eyebrow and points at the chandelier that swings alone with an open window on the second floor.

    “More like dashed away…”

    Damn! How did it speed up like that?

    Travis casts sudden empowered Flame Whips, regretting that he had not done so already but of course he'd had no way of knowing that the monster would suddenly speed up.

    He also activates the stoneskin effect of his heart of earth spell in case he becomes a target.

    Sharkun is surprised by the sudden acceleration of the creature and- Arrgh! he finds himself at the receiving end of the buzzsaw once again. Even though he tries to make the monster fall during its approach, this is to no avail. It seems like they won't have the time to put their plan to fruition now that Barrin has proved to move so fast.

    The dwarf sees Travis from the corner of the eye, changing his arms into two shapes of fire. Good. They have not tested Barrin's resistance to fire yet. Let us do this now.

    @Sharkun: Reliance on the Wraithstrike spell is a double edged sword.

    For one, it provides a great advantage for warriors who have trained to put great strength in favor of accuracy behind each blow, ensuring that they will rarely if ever miss.

    On the other hand, the discovery of such spell has made those same warriors complacent and forgetful- they disdain true training and favor the spell to such a degree, that even if not affected by it currently, still insist on blindly striking their foe, much to the revelation of a horrible truth:

    Not a single thrust from your guisarme has managed to even brush off against this foe's blubbery hide. Every single strike a miss.


    Travis has already cast the incantation to turn his arms into long fiery whips, not unlike those used by the demonic Balors of myth. So far acid and electricity have proven close to useless against this enemy and you need him put down immediately, as you order Travis Wood to move in and strike this abomination down before it succeeds in killing all of you.

    @Rusty: With the mid area empty of enemies, you let Elizabeth go do her thing and grip your Hammer and rush towards Sharkun's help, swinging your trademark tool as it dos connect on the bloated blubber, but it doesn't hurt it as much as the Jasidian's guisarme.

    Speaking of... you need to give this paladin a second chance, just as he had helped you earlier and bark orders of your own, much to Alexia's amusement, as her laughter echoes through the room, followed by the many monsters scattered through the vault.

    It is then that Corwin's voice can be heard through the mental link as momentum takes its place and your Hammer bounces off the creature's hide.

    You are still fighting that thing? Hannibal, if Alexia has such defenses set up, it must be something pivotal we can use against her. But don't throw your life away foolishly. We are all rooting for your victory up here. Me, Roscoe, Drakan... and Sasha, too.

    Please end that menace quickly. You can it, Hannibal!

    @Raikou: This is strange.

    Wasn't the plan to spread out? This place is rather big and you do have Travis' spell to ensure you can run circles around the big disgusting brute. And yet, there they are: all grouped up together face to face with a guy that likes sawing people off with his mutated limb.

    Maybe there was a plan...and you didn't get the memo. What you do know is that you still have a bunch of blasting power left and from your vantage point, a Lightning Bol;t would be nice, if you wanted to catch Sharkun in its path, which is a no go.

    Electricity has been somewhat resisted by this brute, but what about the sheer power of Sonic? As your robes spark up with blue light, the runes pulsating with the tremendous power as you yell at the monstrous creature and discharge a mighty lance of sheer concentrated sound that strikes the creature, sending ripples around its flabby body.

    It's been hurt. It's not resistant to Sonic energy, which is good... but that corpulence about him has prevented the raw power of your lance to truly hit the mark.

    Sharkun is horrified to see Subject Darrin easily avoid all of his attacks despite his bulk. Maybe he has come to rely too much on the use of Wraithstrike. On the other hand, Travis was able to make use of his fire whips, and Rusty has providentially arrived to give the dwarf a second chance. May Wee Jas smile on that human! This time my strike won't go astray.

    The bodyguard activates his boots one last time for today, in order to put a respectable space between Darrin and him. Following a flash of divine inspiration, he then firmly stands on the ground and delivers a telling blow to Darrin.

    @Travis: Bolstered by Sharkun's words, you unleash fiery hell on this creature.

    Each and every whip strikes true as the burning lacerations leave a deep black mark on the creature's hide and cause sit to wail in pain from both heads.

    Electricity may have mildly inconvenienced it.

    Acid as far as you know, has no effect on it.

    But fire? He may have well been stabbed a million times for every lash- this thing has demonstrated some marine qualities. The whole spitting of marine like creatures to trap its prey. The smell of brine...

    The damage caused by your whips is tremendous. Alexia must've engineered this thing from marine life, but why keep it here?


    @Sharkun: Not one to question second chances, you look at your wounds and those suffered by this beast.

    He has taken a lot of punishment, but so have you. Travis may have revealed its weak spot. However, having no fire yourself handy, your guisarme and training will have to do, as your boots serve their purpose for the last time today- hopefully not forever- and you disappear a few feet back, calling on your training as a Royal Guard to slash the monstrosity cleanly through the large head, splitting its upper lip and spraying black blood on the floor.

    You can do this... just a little more time!

    The other creatures begin to move cautiously away, not daring to enter the fight.

    Not hasted anymore, Rusty curse the dog and take a closer to the chainsaw maniac. It's weak against fire, but Travis is weak against big brutes apaprently, so the quicker they end it the better.
