    There's a satisfying crunch as Boru's pole arm connects with the centipede, but that just seems to anger it. It shrieks, drawing Anai's eyes as she tries to maneuver herself into striking distance. Unfortunately, this has the effect of distracting her from the stone bench to her side and she trips, her head connecting with solid rock as she falls. [Damage in discord] The centipede, normally a carrion feeder by nature, sees the fallen Anai and lunges for her, causing a blast from Victoria to sail through the space where it's head was a moment before. Ilepy, wary of making the same mistake as Anai, moves forward as best she can.

    Thankfully for Anai, Boru is quick on his feet and manages to jump just at the right moment to body slam the centipede, causing it's attack to go wide. The centipede tries to flick Boru out of the way with it's tail, while it's front end lunges down again at Anai.

    As Anai tries to scramble out of the way with Boru's help, the centipede comes crashing down at them. Boru catches the centipede on his shield, the force of the blow taking him to one knee and his shield warping a little at the edges, but thankfully not taking the blow to his flesh.

    The tail misses entirely, lashing the sand beside Boru.

    Boru grimaces under the assault of the arthropod. This is likely going to get really hairy, so he has to stay defensive, find the moment to strike and take it while leaving as little of an opening as possible.

    Anai shrieked as it lunged at her prone position, bracing for the inevitable. She let out the held breath as the inevitable never came, Boru blocking the creature's lunge. She scrambled to her feet, flinching as Boru threw himself into another attack, this one slipping past his guard. She felt a pang of guilt, it looked like it really hurt. She moved forward, bringing her falchion to bear. She hoped they could slay this thing. They were committed to this fight, if they tried to run, not all of them would make it. The thought gnawed at her as the blade flew through the air.

    Anai's falchion hits, sheering off numerous legs on it's right side and cleaving off a piece of the centipede's carapace. She hits hight up on it's body, and was only able to do so because it had Boru in it's mouth. He had managed to hit it pretty good as it came, but it had gotten him anyway. It bit down hard, then released, content to let it's poison do it's work before it feasted, but Anai's attack reminded it that it still had more work to do. Even as it turns to face her, a blast of energy from Victoria hits it's other flank, not doing much but leaving some goo seeping out of the spot.

    Seeing the creature's injuries, Ilepy leaps off the bench in an attempt to deliver a finishing blow:

    The centipede dismisses Boru, certain it's venom would do it's work. Instead, it bears down on Anai and Ilepy, hoping to throw Ilepy out of the way and deal with the threat that was Anai:

    The giant centipede crushes Anai to the ground, leaving bloody wounds. She doesn't get up.

    The centipede's tail flails madly, but again only manages to lash the sand.

    Vic's blast of force catches the centipede right where Anai had sheared off a part of it's carapace. As it impacts, it blasts outwards, nearly ripping the centipede's head off and killing it instantly.

    You catch your breath. Nothing seems intent on killing you at the moment, so you have some time to patch up.

    Anai groans as she sat up. Her joints ached, forehead throbbed and both sides of her flank flared with painful fire. She gritted her teeth, biting back the pain. As Vic tended to Boru, she whispered a prayer to Anubis, easing the pain somewhat. Stiffly, she stood up on shaking legs and floundered nearly falling back onto her behind. Her sense of balance was all out of wack and her movements felt sluggish and clumsy. Boru.... are you alright? I...She let the sentence hang unfinished. She looked pained and stressed. A far cry from the optimistic woman the day before.

    Boru smiled at Anai in a reassuring manner. "Oh, a bit stiff. Wouldn't mind a nice bed, but I've still got some fight in me." He tilts his head slightly, inquisitiveness in his eyes. "So do we check out this last outbuilding, or do we head back for the day?"

    Anai forces a smile and a small nod. Uh, ya. That was the plan. No thanks to this thing. Anai kicked the centipede's corpse, flailing her arms to keep her balance. Thank you Vic. Your a real lifesaver.

    "Not a problem." Vic says with a smile. She patches up Anai and Boru with some healing magics.

    She pats Anai on the shoulder hoping to help her calm down. "That was scary. Who knew something this massive could find enough food out here?"

    Seeing that everyone is at least physically better off Vic says "Want to check out the pool it was in before the building? I can't imagine it let anything else live with it in there."

    Well while you inspect a long dried pool, I'm going to... be a bit more proactive. She approached the remaining out-building and held her holy symbol aloft. A surge of divine clarity ran through her as Anubis blessing allowed her to divine the presence of the unrestful dead.

    Detect Undead on the final out building. It's got a 60 ft cone so I should be able to easily encompass the whole building but 1-ft of stone will block the effect (and I won't be able to tell exact locations either).

    Boru, Vic, and Ilepy cautiously approach the edge of the pool and look in. Below, you see finely cut stone covered with sand and something a deeper shade of brown. A quick sniff quickly tells you what that is. Nothing leaps out at you as being alive or unalive, both figuratively and literally speaking.

    Meanwhile, Anai casts her spell. Most of the building proves too thick for the spell to penetrate, but with effort you're able to feel past the stone doors and sense... nothing. There don't appear to be any undead within the spell's range.

    The three of you join Anai at the mausoleum, impressive stone doors before you. Once Anai informs you that she doesn’t sense any undead, you pull the door open. It opens surprisingly easily compared to the doors of the last tomb you explored. It opens immediately on a 10ft wide stairway that descends into darkness.

    You cautiously proceed down the steps, the hot desert sun backlighting you and casting long shadows stretching down the steps into the darkness. About 30ft in, the stairs open into large 25ft x 25ft room. A stone altar sits upon a raised stone platform in the center of this square room. Caryatid columns carved in the likenesses of male and female figures with their arms crossed over their chests and khopeshes or ankhs in their hands stand at each corner of the platform. Empty torch holders are built in all four of the room’s corners. And upon the altar lies a pallid humanoid creature wrapped in wispy bits of... cloth? You feel like it should be cloth, but it almost looks more like skin. Bits of detritus and a sour stink cling to the enwrapped creature. As you enter, it's head turns towards you, and it suddenly stands up. A wispy noise that might have been a growl emanates from it's mouth.

    Boru moved forward slightly. If this thing had as tough a hide as Vic said, direct assault might not be the best option. He swung low as to get it off its feet in hopes of making it an easier target for the more blast-y of the party ho hit.

    Ilepy moves to strike the adherer, with either sword or spell. As she moves to attack she uses a piece of her arcane pool to enhance her weapon. Once she gets into striking position, she begins repeating an incantation, channeling it through her weapon. As she finishes the incantation she swings with her sword

    The Adherer ducks under the blast of light from Victoria, then rushes forward with almost supernatural dexterity. It ducks ahead of a swipe from Ilepy, then hurdles the broadside of Anai's falchion. As it does so though, Boru manages to hook his weapon on one of the creature's legs and pull hard, sending it to the ground on it's back. He swings his weapon back around to pound the creature on the ground, but it's a glancing blow and seems to pass right threw the creature's hip. Something seems to hold it in place though, and as Boru jerks his weapon back he notices a strange material somewhere between a gas and a goo clinging to it.

    The Adherer attempts to stand and Anai clobbers it over the head, but the broad falchion provides a lot of surface area and with a jerk of the creature's head Anai finds herself unarmed, her weapon stuck to the head of the monster. Ilepy likewise takes advantage and runs her blade through the monster's back, sending crackling sparks arcing out from the wound. The only bad part is, Ilepy can't seem to draw her weapon back out.

    The Adherer howls in anguish, then rounds on Ilepy, attempting to beat her senseless in retaliation.

    Before it can strike though, Boru knocks it in the leg, causing it to spin, and it delivers a solid punch to Boru's chest, knocking him back a step. As it pulls back it's fist it slathers more of the gas/goo on Boru, restraining his arms and with the strands that drop to the floor also keeping him in one place. Boru takes 8 damage (reduced to 1) and is grappled.

    Anai's smash with a flail crumples the Adherer, which falls with a clatter of metal weaponry still stuck to it even after it's unconscious.

    +800/4 = 200 XP for everyone!

    Also Boru is still stuck.
