Sadly, todays comedy has become far too political and has strayed from jokes to flat out vitriol.

Huh, What do you think of Actors as Comedians or Comedians as Actors?

I see some people on here, and I keep thinking... Those aren't comedians, those are actors. I mean, they can be funny actors, but actors nonetheless.

I mean, some of them are Comedians, and can be Comedic Actors (and vice verses), but it's hard to say they excel at both.

Coincidentally 3 of my favorite modern comedians all voice the Belcher children on Bob's Burgers:

    -Eugene Mirman
    -Kristen Schaal
    -Dan Mintz

I also like Demetri Martin. I haven't heard that much from Chris Rock, but I love this one bit he has about gay marriage, and that alone ranks him pretty high.

Really? I feel that way about let's players. Seriously: a bunch of idiots accumulate a bunch of subscribers on youtubes making dumb, unscripted comments while playing video games and all of a sudden that makes them qualified to be actors. I'm convinced anytime a person who is famous for being a let's player appears on something scripted it's just to boost rating:

"OH WOW! That one person who makes dumb comments while playing video is cameo-ing on this show! I'll watch it!"

Seriously, it's like when a professional athlete cameos in something. It's like when Shaq starred in films in the 90s.

That's happening? That's... huh. I don't watch Lets Plays, but yeah, I would generally agree with you. If there are any people among them that can successfully transition to acting (like the great Terry Crews. I love me some Terry Crews), more power to 'em, but being a big youtuber alone is hardly a qualification.

You didn't hear about PewDiePie's South Park cameo? The animators didn't even bother to animate PewDiePie. All his scenes are completely live action. I get South Park has in the past blended animation with live action, but considering Korn, Wing, and others have guest starred on the show and they were animated it makes it seem as though the creators just did it to boost ratings.

Arin Hanson appeared on an episode of Rick and Morty. He voiced a monotone, borderline soulless cyborg that honestly I believe I could have delivered that line just as well. Jon Oliver, Stephen Colbert, and David Cross to name a few have all appeared on Rick and Morty and their characters were in the majority of the episode. But a let's player only has one scene and honestly Justin Roiland or literally anyone could have done that part.

Yeah, I'm convinced let's players only appear in other works to boost ratings.

They're definitely my favorite in terms of sketch comedy, with Mister Show, All That, and The Hollow Men coming in at a distant second. I don't like Saturday Night Live though, while a lot of the individual sketches are hilarious just as many of them fall completely flat, and furthermore the show is mostly filler (the host, the musical guest, etc).

In no particular order, and separated by category:

    Stand Up:
    Eddie Izzard
    Dave Chappelle
    Rowan Atkinson

    Sketch Comedy:
    Key and Peele
    Monty Python

    Musical Comedy:
    Weird Al Yankovic
    Stephen Lynch
Garfunkel and Oates (I just found them a few days ago and I'm now obsessed).

    Improv:
    Ryan Stiles
    Colin Mochrie

In spite of myself, I kinda enjoyed Sarah Silverman's Netflix special... even though I have never really been a fan of her.
I also used to like John Pinnette many years ago, but his material really hasn't aged well. It's pretty much just racial impressions disguised as jokes about food.

I'm a big fan of Dave Gorman, where I first encountered him on his Are you Dave Gorman? show where he goes around the world, meeting other people also called Dave Gorman in an attempt to win a bet that the name is very common (the goal was to stay between 300-500 miles travelled per Dave Gorman).

His Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure show is a surprising rollercoaster of emotion (he goes to meet the authors of various googlewacks, who give him further googlewacks for him to meet in order to reach an unbroken chain of 20 googlewacks) and his America Unchained series where he attempts to drive from the West Coast to the East Coast of America without using any corporate of chain style businesses may be of interest to American readers.
