Re: OOTS #1117 - The Discussion Thread
The ceiling heights in the Dwarven tunnels are probably shorter than a giraffe's neck; the dance called "the Limbo" involves walking under a low vertical bar with one's back facing the floor.

Re: OOTS #1117 - The Discussion Thread
Limbo is the name of the plane where the chaotic giraffes live. But limbo is also a game where you have to pass under a pole placed parallel to the ground and lowered as the game progresses. The joke is that the giraffes are good at the game because they live in the plane with the same name.

Re: OOTS #1117 - The Discussion Thread
V also cast Bear's Endurance on himself in the previous comic. Whatever damage he may have gotten from the Chaos Hammer will be further soaked by that bump, if I recall 3.5e's rules for that spell (+4 to CON, so another +2 HP . . . I want to say that's per level of the caster until the spell ends?).

Re: OOTS #1117 - The Discussion Thread
I have to put on an Elan hat for a moment and congratulate the Giant for how smoothly he integrated the "no, the OOTS is not casually herding animals to their death, the giraffes are fine" exposition into the dialogue.

(The father I mean)

Re: OOTS #1117 - The Discussion Thread
Per level (technically Hit Die) of the target. Which in this case would be the same, except for Blackwing's anklet giving V a +1 to his caster level. Caster level only sets duration.
V gains Lvl*2 HP. Dangerous though. If he's down in those 32-ish hitpoints and it gets dispelled, he drops below zero.
And I was really expecting a Fireball to be stacked on top of that Hammer (from V). Sure, Protection/Resist Fire, but V probably has lots of fireballs.Last edited by Elkad; 2018-04-17 at 03:56 PM.

Re: OOTS #1117 - The Discussion Thread
Ninja'd and swordsage'd, repeatedly.
Yeah, 2HP per level for the duration and +2 to a Constitution saves that might be required, too.
Prediction: DurkonT or one of his spellcasting minions is going to try Dispel Magic on Vaarsuvius - buffed against mind control, level drain, Bear's Endurance, Stoneskin - just too many buffs. Whereupon we learn that V has Bloodfeast the Extreminator in a pocket of their robe. And then Bloodfeast will proceed to further T-Rex DurkonT's plans. If memory serves, Bloodfeast would also soak up one casting of Dispel Magic and protect V a little longer.
EDIT: (Greater) Dispel Magic targets a creature, and Bloodfeast wouldn't be a target simply by being in V's pocket - unless Rule of Funny triumphs.Last edited by Shining Wrath; 2018-04-17 at 04:00 PM.

Gotta love bluffing V and blackwing. Here's hoping this goes at least as well as the battle in the pyramid and there's a part for Elan this time.

Visually beautiful (those chaos spell effects!), clever, and hilarious. What's left to ask?

Re: OOTS #1117 - The Discussion Thread
Durkon is by far the most unarrogant and unassuming member of the order.
It stands to reason that his evil twinmirrored vampirized alter ego is the opposite ( see the archwhatever of the order of the stone and his parasites explanation of his inner urges)
naaah it just has a more sparkly color palette :)

Re: OOTS #1117 - The Discussion Thread
Hrm, well, Chaos Hammer is a bit different than my prediction of Word of Chaos... but this is pretty close to what I predicted.
Neat plan though.
From a pure D&D perspective, V still has their standard action left. I wonder what he will cast. Greater dispel magic would be a good choice to debuff the vamps.
