"Right", the heavily armored dwarf says. "The deal is done, the job is accepted and the terms are agreeable to all. Let's not waste any daylight, then".

That's rich coming from the guy who dragged the negotiations on and on and on....

"As you surmised, my name is Strosik Coinguard". Strosik puts on a pair of spectacles, and gives the party a once-over. "You lot look healthy enough. By the grace of Torag, I aim to keep it that way. Now let's go check out those ruins!".

"The longer we wait, the worse for the prince and princess, so let us spent little time chatting now. Beorn Stahl. I know how to use this." The heavily armored human taps his bardiche on the ground. The raised faceplate on his helm shows a blond beard and blue eyes alongside a nose that has been broken more than once.

Darkan shift his focus from the scepter he is polishing to the dwarf.

"Torag? Isn't that the dwarven god of protection? Well, if he is offering one of his warriors as a bodyguard for free, I'll take it. As I am a fragile researcher, I'll be counting on you to protect me."

The robed man shrugs at the abrupt introduction of the armored human now known as Beorn Stahl and brushes his long teal hair that is obscuring his plain features. He then points at his club.

"Name's Darkan. I know how to use this as well but I rather not stray too far to the front. It is very bad for my health. I know some tricks to survive but I am not going to show them here. You will have to wait until we are fighting."

From the three quivers of arrows she carries, it is not necessary to ask what this tall, pallid half-orc lady intends to use.

"I am Thirsha, and like our good dwarf, I intend to keep you alive past the plethora of traps and pits that some madman always manages to leave behind in those sorts of places."

"Pretty sure I can help you with that," says the elf, pulling some tools of his own from one of the many pouches strapped to his legs. "Not really my speciality, but there was that one time we wanted booze from the kitchens, and- Uh, anyway. Nah, I'm mostly here for this," he says, re-stowing the tools, and thumbing the mithral sigil woven into the overall threaded design on his left glove. A glowing gauntlet formed of pure light, an inch or so clear of the leather, and the mithral took on a definite glow. On the back of his arm, the light shaped itself into a crystalline prism, protruding just over the back of his hand.

He just about caught himself before he fired it. "Got a few other things here in my bag of tricks, but, well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it."

Darkan eyes gleam with amusement at Strosik's glare and unfazed by elf's light show as if he had seen it before.

"I don't see the need to be so uptight. I speak however I like. Aside from agreements and mutual interests, pretty much. We are heading the same way and each of us will eventually have do our share of work to ensure that we get to our payday. Now, don't we have something we need to do?"

The incanter closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, focusing inwards and swimming through his memory to recall any piece of information about the ruins.

Times I have ran games, I found it helpful to keep dice code for rolling common group checks, like perception. Saves time. I kept it in a spoiler in the OP and pasted it as needed. Editing in dice code to an existing post doesn't roll, so it works out.

I have two perception spells up (they're measured in hours, so it's not much of an assumption). In short, I don't take any distance based penalties for perception until they're 150ft away (instead of 10ft like everyone else), and I only take a -1 for every 50ft beyond that. Use that information as you will.

You know that this is part of the Amlodd valley. This has been part of the of the kingdom for about 300 years. About 100 years ago there was a orc horde lead by the traitor king Zariasha. After a fierce battle for 3 years the horde was broken and Zariasha was slain. He was inured in a unmarked cairn. The orcs have been in the valley on an off .

If hits, make a dc 14 fortitude save or be fatigued for 1 minute

If it's within 30' then I get a bunch of bonuses not included above that I'll roll OOC. If it's farther than 60' then I start taking range increment penalties of -1 per additional 60'.

Then 5' step back, preferably to somewhere it can't charge me since that's what I assume a hostile bison-thing will be going for.
