A look of effort crosses Kasi's face for a moment, as the glow around his hands seems to diminish as he points with two fingers at you. An odd sensation hits you. It's unlike anything you've ever felt before, though if pressed, you'd say the closest analogy of it is to warmth as an energy suffuses you. You feel more resilient, harder to take down, as if you could shrug off an axe to the chest.

Kabsi tepes in a calm manner. "I have infused you with a bit of my essentia. I can use my essentia to power both my veils and to augment my allies, like I am with you right now. I am currently using it to heal lingering effects to your mind and body, though I'll take it back after a minute or so to see if I can draw anything harmful out of you. If all goes well, that should get you back to normal."

“I feel a tingle but I don’t sense any change. Is it done?” tepes Hoggie. In the real, he says looking at a spot over the tall mans left shoulder:

Kabsi looked disappointed, though mostly in himself. "I don't think I can help you live a more normal life, at least not without robbing you of your abilities in the process. I'm sorry." He sighed. "Obviously, you have some experience with telepathy. How hard is it for you to open up a channel like this? Is there anything I can do to help?"

Seeing Skald fly up in a show of defiance, Rhoha laughs heartily, "Good Good! A leader should be bold! Keep that fire burning that I see in your eyes and all will be well!"

Shouting Tree is a shock at first. He seems to be an obvious jungle native but with the tell-tale signs that his entire strain of humanity is overdeveloped physically and underdeveloped mentally. Thick eyebrows and eye ridges, wide cheeks, underslung jaw. He wears strange piercings through his nose, eye ridges, lips, etc. He is 6' and weighs in at 206 pounds of powerful muscle and lean sinew. He has dark brown eyes and long black hair wrapped up in an odd manner that you haven't seen before.

Think of the movie APOCALYPTO, Aztec natives ... the wild ones, not the crazy 'civilized' ones.

He wears leather armor of eel hide with all manner of interesting pieces of traded metals that probably make this the level of studded leather.

He's obviously one to take a beating. He is outfitted for war. He carries a spear of a strange type - though its overall form is straight, it takes warps and knots to get there. The connection point between point and wood is covered in little fetishes and furs. A symbol on the spear notes that it is dedicated to The Shalm, a god of nature and worshipped by savages and druids, though this is a variation worshipped by jungle peoples.

At his side is some type of skeletal animal skull fitted to a haft, a handaxe of fine quality with strange markings, and he also carries a composite longbow and a quiver-and-a-half of arrows. You're not sure of the longbow's capacity, but it is definitely more than a normal man could fire. At his crude belt are a few crude pottery items that might be potions or something. You're pretty sure from his bearing that he is no kind of spellcaster, probably not even a shaman of any kind.

That said, one thing that does appear to be a magical influence is the grasses around and under Shouting Tree. The past few nights you figured he just happened to find the softest spots to sleep on, but you did the survey and clear of the campsite tonight, and this spot was chosen for light vegetation. Now, however, there are thick grasses that have grown that Shouting Tree has since matted down for a bed.

When you speak to him he gives a short, sharp nod. It is neither friendly nor unfriendly. He doesn't seem so cold as to be civil, but he definitely doesn't seem to be gregarious. You don't know why he was cursed by the gods with his physical deformities, or if it was an ancestor, but many little things he has in carriage and the he bears himself says that while apparently Olman, when it comes to the Seven Villages of the Olman on or around the Isle of Dread .... he is an outsider.

Kabsi frowns slightly. "Let's just get this out of the way. I don't exactly hold the Seven Villages in high regard. I was cast out as an infant in the most literal way possible, so suffice to say I don't trust them. Looking at you now, though, you do not seem like one of them." He paused. "In fact, the more I look at you, you seem more like me. Linked to them by blood, but remaining an outsider. I feel I may have been too quick to judge. What is your story?"

"I am from Tamoachan," he says in Olman, as it is a little easier to speak in than Common. "Animal speaker, blessed by Shalm."

Kabsi, you have never heard of Tamoachan.

He looks at you and warily asks, "What ... is Kabsi? When we swim, Kabsi gills show. His hands and feet different. Color even change slightly, like octopus, but not as good. He isn't man."

He just nods once. Kabsi, you get the feeling he doesn't understand. How didactic you are will determine how far you press the point to get him to understand, or just to leave it alone.

"Let me show you." With that, he moves the essence from his shoulder veil into his hands, the light from the first dissipating as he did so. "May I?" he says, holding a hand out to him.

Kabsi briefly considers putting the essence into him anyway, but decides against it and reallocated his essence to where it was before. "Suit yourself. The point is I can use that essence to heal an augment others, and I can disrupt the flow natural energy in others via combat. Admittedly, it's less effective against things that aren't strictly alive."

Shouting Tree listens, blinks, continues listening. Once Kabsi is done, Shouting Tree still stands, looking at Kabsi looking at him.

Kabsi was beginning to get irritated. "Look, the point was that I was unduly ignoring you this whole time and I am trying to correct that. Would you prefer I just left you alone? Because I can do that, too."

"Oh," says Shouting Tree. He doesn't know what to say to continue a conversation, so figures that it is over and shrugs. "Never alone."

A massive shape almost brushes past Kabsi and heads to Shouting Tree. Ix-Caban, Shouting Tree's black panther drops a slain capybara by her master's feet. When she does this, Kabsi is gone from memory as he begins to make a fire.

Kabsi just shook his head and left. It looks like his plan of not bothering with dealing with Shouting Tree was perhaps the wiser course of action, but at least now there was no ill will between them.
